Resolved Question: Anethesia gone wrong during surgery? Causing demetia?
(Wed, 28 Dec 2011 07:33:57 GMT)
My 67 year old mom had surgery due to intestine adhesion/blockage. When she got out of surgery, she showed sever signs of dementia and got worse over 48 hours. I think something went wrong during surgery. Symptoms should lessen in 48 - 72 hours but they are getting worse (not being able to speak, hallucination, not recognizing objects, shaking arm to make a few)
According to the anesthesia record I obtained, surgery prep started at 10.24 am. Surgery started at 10:54 am and ended at 12:59 pm.

Voting Question: Continuos heavy bleeding 3 months after c-section delivery..what's wrong with me?
(Tue, 31 May 2011 11:39:48 GMT)
So here are a few past health details before I get into my main question. I have severe endometriosis, ovarian cysts, laserations, adhesions, and scar tissue. I was told getting pregnant would probally never happen for me and if it did it could be life threatening to both myself and my child, but yet here I am 3 months after having a baby boy via c-section due to him being in the frank breech position.
Here's my question/concern: I've been having SEVERE bleeding ever since the surgery. about

Resolved Question: Had to give our dog away due to health issues! Was it the right thing for him? How do we deal with this?
(Wed, 25 May 2011 23:58:03 GMT)
My boyfriend and I bought our dream dog last May -- Sawyer was a beautiful dark golden retriever who had all the golden traits you could ask for. He was like our child and we loved him with all are hearts. However, last September, he suffered from an unknown bowel issue that almost killed him. My boyfriend and I had money saved up for emergencies and were able to afford the emergency surgery that resulted in the removal of 8 inches of Sawyer's intestines. The vets did everything to figure

Resolved Question: my surgeon has cancelled my hysterectomy three times now. Can she be sued for neglecting my health?
(Wed, 09 Feb 2011 06:04:46 GMT)
This same surgeon has scheduled me three times for a total abdominal hysterectomy and has cancelled three times for various "excuses" she finds. the first time was because she felt she could not do the surgery herself, the second time was because(and I was nine minutes into going back to the OR) nobody told me I needed a bowel prep, the third time was because the bowel prep was not working as well(it did later that night) due to severe pelvic pain, straining and vomiting. Now she refuses to do

Resolved Question: Labia size? self concious?
(Sat, 04 Dec 2010 02:19:42 GMT)
But since everyone always seems to be very attached to the idea of having "normal" labia and curious about what's most common in terms of size, on average, inner labia are around 3/4s of an inch long to over two inches long at the longest point. Even finding those averages is tough, since nearly any medical gynecological reference book you pick up -- whether for healthcare providers or patients -- tends to mention little about labial size or appearance, other than how diverse that is or when d

Resolved Question: Who would I see for the removal of a skin bridge (Penile skin adhesion from circumcision)?
(Fri, 08 Oct 2010 19:24:13 GMT)
I have a small skin bridge ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skin_bridge ) that has recently started causing pain during erections. Should I see a regular doctor or a urologist to have it removed. I don't want to have to go to one, only to have them send me to the other. I am also looking for a ballpark figure of how much the removal will cost, seeing as I don't currently have health insurance. Thanks.

Resolved Question: Preventing adhesion formation?
(Mon, 16 Aug 2010 04:41:54 GMT)
Does anyone know what surgeons typically use to prevent adhesion formation after cesarean sections in Canada? I'm supposed to have a c section and I mentioned dissolving barriers they put in to prevent adhesion formation and my surgeon had never heard of such a thing. I don't get to choose who does my surgery, so I can't just find another doctor, but she seemed clueless and this concerns me greatly. There is no way I will consent to a surgery with no preventative measures taken so that I don't

Resolved Question: is an annual gyno exam necessary after a total hysterectomy?
(Tue, 10 Aug 2010 18:26:47 GMT)
I had a total hysterectomy in December and went back last month for my "annual" exam. I no longer need a pap because I don't have those parts anymore. Can anyone tell me the need to go every year anyway? I am 52 in good health, 5'2" and 120lbs. Everything was removed, I had endometriosis, adenomyosis, adhesions, and a non cancerous tumor. I just don't understand the need for an annual exam.

Resolved Question: How Do I Get The Pain Medication I Need?
(Fri, 23 Apr 2010 04:31:50 GMT)
I have been left with constant mild to severe pain from damage/adhesions that are the result of a couple of surgeries I had to have due to a pancreatic tumor(not cancer). I usually can make it through most days with Ultram and ibuprofen. There are probably three occasions a week where these medications are not nearly enough and probably one or two times a month that I would really like to go to the ER. I just wait it out and suffer. I don't get to do all the things I want and need to do so

History:
2 years ago I severely sprained my left ankle, I had a complete tear in my ATFL and a partial tear in my CFL. I am also born with an accessory bone on my Navicular which then fused to the Cuneiform next to it via cartilage. That sprain was treated on my own since I didnt have health insurance. I used crutches for 3 weeks while using RICE. The ankle and its ligaments healed, yet I had developed Posterior Tibial Tendinitis and was experiencing an aching pain on the medial side of my foo

Resolved Question: HYSTERECTOMY AND LOWER RIGHT ABDOMINAL PAIN?
(Tue, 09 Feb 2010 23:13:13 GMT)
I had a hysterectomy with oophrectomy in 1997 age 26 for endometriosis and it was the worst mistake i ever made. Very few women know a hysterectomy is actually a female castration. I was scared into having the op by my dr. Since then i have had chronic hip and back pain and sciatica, weight gain and premature aging. After the surgery a student nurse ripped the dressing off without soaking it and this pulled my incision open on my right side. For the week i was in hospital the wound was left g

Resolved Question: Is 25 too young to make this kind of decision??? Whether or not to EVER have more children?
(Thu, 22 Jan 2009 04:53:19 GMT)
To take away the potential ability to have more children....
I'm having a ton of pain in my right ovary. I went to see my OB/GYN and he confirmed I have adhesion's which formed from my scar tissue from my C-Section. It isn't dangerous to my health, just painful.
2 ways to fix it,1. Pelvis-copy (I just did this in November and it didn't work for the ovary, everything else yes, but not the ovary) 2. Remove the offending ovary...
Considering I just did the pelvis-copy, I'm leaning towards rem

Resolved Question: We all know that some R&Sers are quick to report questions, but are they as quick in other sections?

I'm just wondering of the strictness to adhere to our Community Guidelines seems as important in other sections as it does in this one to the "report monkeys" as they've been dubbed.
I mean, in women's health there's always children under 13 posting items. If you go onto parenting there is always someone posting rants. That's just two examples.
Is it the adhesion to the Y!A community code that's important to them or the content of the question that disagrees with them?

Resolved Question: Therapies for intercostal neuritis?
(Wed, 20 Aug 2008 02:10:39 GMT)
While playing basketball about 18 months ago I received a sharp blow to my lower left ribs which apparently caused some sort of soft/connective tissue damage to the ribs but on the front side (they must have protruded forward from the force of the blow, causing the damage). X-rays and CT were both clear but the pain still persists 18 months later! Anti-inflammatories have helped at times (I'm taking Advil now with some breaks to avoid stomach bleeding), the pain isn't really subsiding much and

My husband recently lost his job, so I had to go on state health care. I'm afraid of the answer to this question XD Yes I will get seen by a doctor.
