High blood pressure, also called hypertension, usually has no symptoms. But it can cause serious problems such as stroke, heart failure, heart attack and kidney failure. If you cannot control your high blood pressure through healthy lifestyle habits such as losing weight and reducing sodium in your diet, your doctor may prescribe medicines.
Blood pressure medicines work in different ways to lower blood pressure. Some remove extra fluid and salt from the body to lower blood pressure. Others slow down the heartbeat or relax and widen blood vessels. Often, two or more medicines work better than one.

But today I made her go to the hospital, and they checked her blood pressure and it was 178/104. The doctor said that she needed to check m

Resolved Question: If Marijuana were legalized, would you agree to making sugar illegal since it causes more damage to our health?
(Thu, 02 Feb 2012 16:54:12 GMT)
A spoonful of sugar might make the medicine go down. But it also makes blood pressure and cholesterol go up, along with your risk for liver failure, obesity, heart disease and diabetes. Sugar and other sweeteners are, in fact, so toxic to the human body that they should be regulated as strictly as alcohol by governments worldwide, according to a commentary in the current issue of the journal Nature by researchers at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).

Now to be clear, I'm going to be going to Doctors soon for professional consultation, I was just curious if anyone had any ideas of what could be wrong. - I'm an 18 year old female, I'm 5' 3", 98lbs and have had trouble gaining weight my whole life, due to what the doctors deem a fast metabolism. - When I was younger I got sick with the chicken pox and developed plaque psoriasis on the back of my neck. Every year at the health screening they want me to go to the ER - I think they're crazy - I think their machines don't work and western medicine is profit motivated. I am overweight - but my cholesterol runs 190 - 220, my triglycerides are always below 110, and my glucose is around 97 (these results are over the past 6 years). Even though I say "I think they're crazy" - they still get me all worked up and anxious every time they insist I go to the ER and tell me how concerned they are about

I woke up in the middle of the night after dreaming about my dad dying. He isn't following directions with testing for type 2 diabetes and is really secretive about his health- on heart medication, high blood pressure medicine, thyroid medication and depression medication. I can always read him because we are programmed similarly. But, I would never risk my life by not testing and eating whatever I want. I had this dream of him dying and dealing with his death all last night. I don't wan

My mom has always worked 80+ hours a week with three jobs for at least 20 years. But she doesn't help the matter because she keeps spending money on other people but ignores my father and I. Like, my father has high blood pressure and cholestoral. And can't get medicine now because my mom decided they needed an extra $700 dollars to go see my nephew in Florida in December. We don't have health insurance till Feb. apparently, so she can have extra money and time down in Florida for two weeks.
