Resolved Question: How do I deal with this situation with my dad? (Sorry this is long)?
(Tue, 16 Aug 2011 04:43:05 GMT)
Just warning you, this is going to be long. But someone – at least one person please read this and give me advice. First of all, I want to let you all know my situation. When I was in 7th grade I was raped. I’m now starting my 10th grade year in high school. The guy just got out of jail and the trial just ended at the beginning of my summer vacation. My grandma just recently died also, two weeks after my grandpa had a major stroke that has left him paralyzed on the right side of his body and h

Resolved Question: Is there funding for children with autism?
(Thu, 16 Jun 2011 22:53:10 GMT)
I live in Michigan and have a nephew with moderate autism. He's in need of therapy and a few other forms of treatment that I'm unfamiliar with. My brother makes in the 90k-100k range, but he's the sole provider for the household. Also, my sister in-law has various health conditions including MS, lupus (not sure I spelled that right), mixed connective tissue disorder, and arthritis just to name a few. Needless to say, much of their income goes to their medical treatment and medications for

Resolved Question: Melatonin warning not on bottle?
(Thu, 05 May 2011 04:21:14 GMT)
This may be a dumb question, but I'm grasping at straws.
I have been taking melatonin on and off since last September. According to the bottle, it was OK for me to take melatonin and I had talked to my doctor about it. However, as my bottle is running out, I got another bottle of melatonin that is a different brand. The warning on their says that you shouldn't take it if you have autoimmune disorders. This warning was not on my first bottle, which I still have.
Before I took the melatonin, I

Resolved Question: Autoimmune Hepatitis and lip implants?
(Sun, 01 May 2011 16:52:57 GMT)
I'm considering doing a lip enlargement with Permalip implants and it says on the website for doing the procedure: "You must be in good general health. You might not be a good candidate for lip augmentation if you have oral herpes, scarring, or certain diseases such as diabetes, lupus, connective tissue disorders, or blood clotting problems."
Does Autoimmune Hepatitis include in those 'such as' diseases?

Voting Question: What diseases/disorders are associated with nosebleeds?
(Mon, 08 Nov 2010 02:42:07 GMT)
I've had nosebleeds on and off since I was about 12 years old. They happen at various times, and can even start in my sleep (I wake up from the blood running down my throat). I am now 22, and within this span of time have had a multitude of issues with my health, to which no doctor can give me a clear answer. A few months ago, I was told my ANA was positive with a speckled pattern. Though my problems have been narrowed down to some autoimmune disease/connective tissue disorder, I'm wondering i

Resolved Question: Too young for health issues, how do I stay motivated?
(Wed, 25 Aug 2010 18:27:15 GMT)
I have been diagnosed with PCOS and Diabetes. I have also tested positive for a connective tissue disorder. Today I went back in for tests to determine if it is Lupus or another illness. I am only 31. I have other things I want to do with my life. But on days like this, it's hard to push myself to study (working on a master's degree) and go to work and live my life. Is there anyone else with illness, that is young? How do you motivate yourself on days when it's just too hard?

Resolved Question: How can we get my husband medical attention?
(Mon, 28 Sep 2009 20:48:58 GMT)
I am writing on behalf of my husband (24 years old). He was diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder when he was in high school. This condition is typically genetic, but not in his case as none of his family members have it. I am not a doctor, so I will not try to explain what it is, but if you would like more info on it see here (http://www.marfan.org/marfan/2320/Features). What I can tell you are my own observations.
There are many symptoms/features of Marfan Syndrome –

Resolved Question: Can somebody with exp. give me some insight?
(Mon, 27 Apr 2009 02:14:32 GMT)
I have been on Paxil 30mg, and Xanax for depression and anxiety for about 3 months now. I feel better (not suicidal any longer) and have actually been happy a few times and able to enjoy normal activities. However, I am always tired no matter how many hours I sleep, be it 3, or 10 I feel the same. Groggy, fatigued and unmotivated to do anything. I have to drink large amounts of caffeine plus use the aid of energy supplement sprays/drinks. Now, I am physically healthy 26 year old, no health pro

Resolved Question: My american government current event?
(Mon, 09 Mar 2009 06:39:58 GMT)
WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (CNN) -- For Doug Pegram, it is on the one hand simple math: His medical bills cost roughly $300 a month and a health insurance policy would cost $550.
"Two or three hundred dollars goes a long way," Pegram said. Especially when you are living on unemployment benefits.
Simple math, and a huge gamble: Pegram has a rare disorder, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, that in some patients can be life-threatening.
"If anything happens, that's another story," Pegram told us. "Bu

Resolved Question: Is it true that getting sick a lot as a kid can cause you to be paranoid about your health?
(Fri, 16 Jan 2009 10:24:39 GMT)
I've heard that before. My mom said that when I was little, I was always sick. She said that I got a lot of fevers and I would also have vomiting episodes and dizzy spells. I'm 20 now, and I've been diagnosed with a connective tissue disorder (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome). That's why I always had vomiting episodes and dizzy spells. Anyway, I have extremely bad OCD, expecially when it comes to my health. I've been paranoid ever since I was really young. I'm even more paranoid now. I was also diagnos

(Sat, 30 Jun 2007 06:12:18 GMT)
I sleep with my eyes partially open. I blink and such like I would when I am awake. Does anyone know if this is harmful or if I should ask my Doc. about it. I have done this since I was a baby, and 2 of my children sleep like this also. So, I am wondering about nay health effects it may have. We also suffer from Ehlers Danlos syndrome ( a connective tissue disorder) and have never thought to ask about it. Does anyone know anything about this? Do you sleep like that? Or no people who do?

Resolved Question: damaged connective tissue in abdomen?
(Thu, 12 Apr 2007 21:22:48 GMT)
for the health professionals out there:
what would be a cause of weakened/ underdeveloped (the surgeon termed it 'pediatric') peritoneal connective tissue in an adult female? This patient presented with chronic idiopathic constipation and had recently had a bowel resection and removal of a very damaged gallbladder. The gallbladder had been wrapped in its own membrane thus inflaming the other organs in the peritoneal cavity.
Her ANA antibody and sed rate were done to rule out lupus and

Resolved Question: Mitral valve prolapse and TMJ?
(Thu, 17 Aug 2006 15:41:17 GMT)
I wast just diagnosed with TMJ. I had been diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse syndrome when I was in my early 20's. When I was looking up information on TMJ, I found that some studies have shown that 51% of people with MVP will have TMJ because both are considered connective tissue disorders. I have all the classic symptoms of MVP and TMJ. Has anyone else heard of this? I don't see that information on some sites...and I know you can't trust a lot of health sites on the internet. I also
