When you're dizzy, you may feel lightheaded or lose your balance. If you feel that the room is spinning, you have vertigo.
A sudden drop in blood pressure or being dehydrated can make you dizzy. Many people feel lightheaded if they get up too quickly from sitting or lying down.
Dizziness usually gets better by itself or is easily treated. However, it can be a symptom of other disorders. Medicines may cause dizziness, or problems with your ear. Motion sickness can also make you dizzy. There are many other causes.
If you are dizzy often, you should see your health care provider to find the cause.

Resolved Question: Was this a stroke or just vertigo?
(Mon, 16 Jan 2012 09:56:55 GMT)
I have been taking the birth control pill Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for four months now. Three days ago I woke up with severe vertigo. The room was spinning and I couldn't walk without assistance. This lasted up until this afternoon. It has gone away now. I am 20 years old and in good health. Should I be worried that this was something more than normal vertigo? The only symptom I had was the dizziness/room spinning/off-balance. I know the birth control pill has an increased risk of blood clot.

Resolved Question: Is there anything similar to Meniere's Disease?

Before my insurance ended, I had been trying to find out what was causing my dizziness. At times the vertigo only lasted for a few seconds, but sometimes it last the whole day preventing me from doing anything other than laying down. My doctor had thought it could be Meniere's Disease and sent me over to the Ear, Nose and Throat doctor. That doctor listened to my symptoms and said that he thinks it could be one of two things, Meniere's Disease or a strange cluttered headaches(his words). I got

Resolved Question: Pressure in Head/Ears, Vertigo, Nausea, Fatigue?
(Sat, 17 Dec 2011 04:04:58 GMT)
I am a 23 year old female with no pre-existing health conditions outside of scoliosis which I had corrective surgery on 11 years ago. For the past three weeks I have been having problems with extreme fatigue, dizziness, and nausea 24/7. I came extremely close to blacking out while in the shower Monday morning so I went to the ER,, where I was treated for dehydration and vertigo and sent home. I was given meclizine for the nausea and dizziness by the ER doctor which didn't seem to help at all.

Resolved Question: Can someone help me make sense of this?
(Fri, 28 Oct 2011 00:44:46 GMT)
Okay so for years now, literally, probably..three to five years I've had health problems. I've been to the doctor several times, even specialists and i've been undiagnosed. I have been diagnosed with GERD and IBS but they don't really explain alot of the symptoms i've been having like bad bouts of vertigo (dizziness, lightheadednesss, things start to spin, vision blurs) and then i have had digestive problems, like I'd get really nauseated every single time i ate. I've been put on medicines and

I'm just i normal teen. I've already had a glass of water, a can of soup, I got about 9 hours of sleep last night, and as far as I know, I have no health problems. Resolved Question: Does anyone share these symptoms? muscle pain and weakness, stinging sensation, dizziness.....?
(Mon, 13 Dec 2010 18:54:32 GMT)
These symptoms started roughly 2 years ago. I am a 29 y.o. male. The symptoms have been getting more frequent and severe. I have done some research and I have to admit, I am a little concerned as the causes all seem to be pretty significant, but here goes. 1. Extreme muscle weakness, at times it gets to the point of partial paralysis, I.E. can't stand, walk, open my hand(s), sit up from a prone position-when these symptoms start up its as if most of my muscles just quit. 2. Severe muscle

Resolved Question: Huge List of Health Problems?

Okay, I'm a 19 year old female and in September I was having anxiety attacks due to the loss of someone close. Then I got a cold, and when that went away, I got an ear infection. I took azythromicin but the ear infection felt like it didn't go away. I started to feel better but then I got worse again. I went to an ENT and he said I don't have an infection and I should see a chiropractor because it's probably my neck causing ear pain. Oh, and in the end of October I got bitten by a tick. I told

21 year old male. Works with computers a lot. Final year of uni and about a month ago I noticed symptoms of blurred/glassy/narrow/double vision and the feeling of fatigue all the time. This lead to disorientation and dizziness. Having seen many eye specialists, we've ruled out problems with my eyesight and that I don't need glasses (and my eyes are very healthy). Had many other tests performed, like blood analysis, had my blood pressure checked and a few basic "vertigo tests." It seems to be

All right, here goes. I am a 20-year-old female at a healthy weight, no previous health problems. So for about two months now I've been feeling extremely lightheaded and dizzy at all times. It is NOT vertigo because I don't have a feeling of constant motion and I don't fit any of the symptoms. But my dizziness is accompanied by fatigue, lack of concentration (when I have my spells I can't even concentrate enough to write down notes in class,) blurred vision...and I just feel all-around horrib

My mum has had a few episodes of random dizziness lately. Most of the time I am not around to actually witness it because I am at school and such. Earlier today we were watching a movie; once the movie was over my mother stood to leave the room and made it to the doorway when she quietly mentioned she was feeling quite dizzy. She leaned against the door frame and stood with a look of confusion on her face. After a few seconds she staggered back a few steps and I feared she might faint. My fath

Hi, I constantly worry about my health (I'm a hypochondriac) and recently have been concerned with the head. I know that double vision could be a sign of a neurological problem. I have dizziness/nausea and have been to a doc, who did some tests (light in eye, walk in straight line, etc.) and thinks I have positional vertigo. However, I keep thinking that I have double vision. I fixate on objects to see if I am seeing double, and I as far as I can tell, I'm not really, but I keep thinking I a

Then progressed from mild occurrences to feeling like I would pass out on one occassion. Now the dizziness is there for most of the day. At first possibly 4 - 6 hours a day to now all day. It is worse in a sitting or standing position. Laying down seems to help. It is not a motion sickness, no nausea, not vertigo. It is more like a

Resolved Question: Occult bleeding or internal bleeding?
(Tue, 02 Jun 2009 18:14:59 GMT)
"A more serious cause of lightheadedness is bleeding. Most of the time, the location of the bleeding and the need to seek medical care are obvious. However, sometimes bleeding is not obvious (occult bleeding). You may have small amounts of bleeding in your digestive tract over days or weeks without noticing the bleeding. When this happens, lightheadedness and fatigue may be the first noticeable symptoms that you are losing blood. Heavy menstrual bleeding also can cause this type of lightheaded

Resolved Question: I have this irrational fear of being in a moving car, and it's not motion sickness...what is it?
(Thu, 08 Jan 2009 02:17:41 GMT)
This really confuses me, as I love cars and driving, but now i'm terrified to be in them. It's not motion sickness - there is no vertigo, dizziness or nausea involved with it, but it seems to be some kind of perception issue. I feel like, at any speed, we are going to fast (when I am the passenger), and when we are at a stop light or stop sign, or in double lanes, cars are way too close and going to hit us. It's so bad that I get white knuckled and sweaty. Any time a car is coming towards us a

Resolved Question: In ~ the past 5 months, I have had 3 spells of extreme dizziness hit and pass within 60 seconds?

I am a 38 year old male. I'd say I have had pretty good health (at least physically) over the past 38 years of my life. I am on no medications. 1) I'd estimate this first happened ~ September 1, 2008. I was sitting alone in my office. Out of the blue, EXTREME, off-the-charts dizziness hits me and slowly wanes over ~ 60 seconds. I blew it off and didn't share this experience with anyone. 2) I'd estimate that Thanksgiving night (of 2008), most family had left, and I was sitting in a cha

On top of this I have asthma which has lately been getting really worse, and none of the additional inhalers (cortisone) have helped at all, and even occasionally my normal (vent

Resolved Question: I'm scared that something might be seriously wrong. Problems with balance, eyes, nausea, ect. (read 4 details)?

Okay, I am a 16 year old very active female in good health. I have this weird thing going on. At random times of the day I'll get all dizzy, like vertigo. Then I will get really nauseous and end up throwing up, even tho I do not feel sick. The dizziness started about 2 weeks ago. There is really no pattern to when I get dizzy or not, so I know its not because I'm not eating right or or something stupid like that. About two years ago I had something similar and the doc's couldn't find

Resolved Question: Is there such a thing as pain in the thyroid gland?
(Tue, 26 Aug 2008 23:03:11 GMT)
I have been having trouble with the adjusting of my pill (Armour) for almost a month now ( it was basically almost ok for a couple of years). Since the manufacturer changed its processing of the pill, I have been kind of allergic to even the smallest of grams. Resolved Question: Why am I having occasional dizziness?
(Tue, 25 Mar 2008 02:28:35 GMT)

From during the summer to about mid December I was feeling great and had no health problems really. From that point until now, I have had unexplained dizziness which comes and goes everyday. My apartment had a massive water leak (summer) and when the repair men came to fix it they only dried the area and did not remove the carpet that had been soaked or the floor beneath. Mold thrives

(Thu, 04 Oct 2007 01:10:14 GMT)
Hey guys. I'm going to fore-warn you... I'm a mess. And, let's take into consideration this could all be an outcome of my anxiety... But anyway, I shall go on. I've had vertigo for going on four weeks now. What's up with that? (Vertigo is dizziness... usually ear related.) DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN THIS WILL CEASE? I seriously thought it cured itself. It's sooo annoying. I've been nauseated since Saturday. I've been vomitting (I know, gross)... And my breathing is bad. I think this go
