Your eyes can get infections from bacteria, fungi or viruses. Eye infections can occur in different parts of the eye and can affect just one eye or both. Two common eye infections are
- Conjunctivitis - also known as pinkeye. Conjunctivitis is often due to an infection. Children frequently get it, and it is very contagious.
- Stye - a bump on the eyelid that happens when bacteria from your skin get into the hair follicle of an eyelash.
Symptoms of eye infections may include redness, itching, swelling, discharge, pain, or problems with vision. Treatment depends on the cause of the infection and may include compresses, eye drops, creams or antibiotics.

Open Question: Wondering if my Mom's end is near?
(Mon, 13 Feb 2012 20:34:34 GMT)
I posted a little while ago asking about my mom. She's a longtime diabetic and has had Multiple Myeloma for close to 8 years now. Just after the new year she was hospitalized with pneumonia. We were told to be on standby for her to pass, amazingly, she recovered only days later to be told a diabetic infection in her leg was out of control and would require amputation. She had her right leg cut off above the knee. At this time, I traveled to her fearing she wouldn't survive the surgery or h

Voting Question: What can I do to cure my pitbulls itching/allergies? She is constantly itching her face and behind her ears?
(Mon, 06 Feb 2012 01:16:04 GMT)
Rajah, my pit bull, is a little over a year old and I have been dealing with this skin issue since we first got her. We have been feeding her Blue Buffalo Basics the Turkey and Potato formula, as well as giving her 2 benadryl tablets in the morning and 2 at night. I've tried using claritin 24hr 10mg but it seems like she itches less when I give her the benadryl twice a day. But just by doing these two things alone has helped a tremendous amount but I can't seem to find anything that will help

Voting Question: Health issues - Not sure though..?
(Thu, 02 Feb 2012 21:57:52 GMT)
Hi, I am a 17 year old male and I'm concerned about my health. Firstly, I'd like to say that I'm constantly tired all of the time. I don't get much sleep, because of when I go to sleep and when I have to wake up at 6:00am every morning for school. My weight isn't all that great for my age. My body feels weak all of the time and sometimes I get muscle aches. I was told by my Doctor that I have "cluster migraines" from being overwhelmed. So now I take propanolal (however you spell it). Also,

I have a 4 year old guinea who has been in perfect health all her life (touch wood) minus a few minor eye infections but she hasnt had one for at least a year now. I have this paranoia where I think my mother or both my parents are trying to kill me for life insurance, I live in the UK. Is there any way to check if I have life insurance? I am only 16. Resolved Question: Can Used Cat Litter Cause Infection if Put In Human Eyes?
(Fri, 06 Jan 2012 23:31:46 GMT)
Shortened story. I'm a house cleaner. I was cleaning an automatic litter box & the cat waste from the waste receptacle flew in my eyes when trying to remove it. Is there any infection that I should look out for? I don't have health insurance, so seeing a doc would take all my savings. Universal health care is the right of all Americans. A 30% tax rate entitles us all to it. So where is it?

No way am I going to use it this time. Unless the vet gives the go ahead. I can also ask him/her, depending on what vet sees him, as there are several in mist clinics here. Also, are

Resolved Question: Would MMA be in a different state of fighting if state comissions allowed a concept of no rules?

Everybody here is probably a UFC/MMA fan just like me, but what would it be if it did not have rules? Everybody talks about how wrestling is a good base to start off in the sport of MMA, but yet every fighter I see has no true essence to fighting. Not to say that they cannot fight or that they are not good at what they do, on the contrary they are very good at what they do. My point is, is that rules put a cloak over true fighting and shows audiences a watered down version of something so natu

He's in excellent health: gets sufficient exercise, has a very healthy diet, ample socialization and stimulation, no skin/hair issues, perfect weight, never had any issues in any vet exam, et cetera. I've noticed, however, that sometimes he gets a reddish discoloration on his underbelly, right around where his bellybutton is. She also has some ear pain on that side and yesterday (Friday) had an off and on fever
