Resolved Question: What do I do about this extremely embarrassing problem? Please Help!?
(Mon, 16 Jan 2012 20:34:37 GMT)
To make a long story short, I was having issues with my bowel movements a few months ago and ended up going to an Urgent Care center where I was told I had developed hemorrhoids, and I used all of the prescribed treatments. It was a prolonged issue but I believe it was resolved about a month ago and i haven't seen any blood in the area since. My problem is that for the past few months I've been dealing with a really embarrassing discharge of some sort which I have no control over. It mainly

Resolved Question: Anyone else againtst neutering/spaying?
(Mon, 19 Dec 2011 16:02:46 GMT)
Now, I know I'll probably get haters but this is a subject I feel very strongly about. I have researched on this and have been told that neutering removes the risk of diseases, without being given proof. I have found a list of both good and bad on neutering male dogs.
Good:
-eliminates the small risk of dying from testicular cancer.
-reduces the risk of non-cancerous prostate disorders.
-reduces the risk of perianal fistulas.
-possibly reduces the risk of diabetes.
Bad:
-if done before 1 yrs

Resolved Question: Is neutering male dogs bad for them?
(Tue, 23 Aug 2011 03:04:17 GMT)
I needed to neuter my dog because of a prostate infection, but I feel guilty now because I found:
Neutering male dogs
eliminates the small risk (probably <1%) of dying from testicular cancer
reduces the risk of NON CANCEROUS PROSTATE DISORDERS (my dog had this)
reduces the risk of perianal fistulas
may possibly reduce the risk of diabetes (data inconclusive)
On the negative side, neutering male dogs
if done before maturity, increases the risk of osteosarcoma (bone cance

Voting Question: Heal a tooth abscess?
(Wed, 12 Jan 2011 08:01:08 GMT)
I know I have a tooth abscess because there is a small pus filled sack above one of my molars that has a cavity. I know that this is serious and I need to see a dentist but I just need to put it off for about two weeks when my health insurance kicks in. There has not been any swelling in my face at all or any pain and I know the root of the tooth is not dead so I figure I can handle two weeks.
Is there anything I can do to get rid of the sack, I believe it is called a fistula, and keep the a

(Thu, 24 Jun 2010 08:15:33 GMT)
After a lot of research, and showing my friend who is a doctor, I am certain I have an Perianal Abscess. I thought it was a hemorrhoid, it looked like one at first, as it is right next to the sphincter muscle on the left side. It first developed about 4 months ago, and was extremely painful. After a week or so of treating it like a hemorrhoid...sitz baths, prep h, the swelling went down and the pain went away, but it was still there...just not as inflamed, and itched a lot in the morning when

Resolved Question: Spaying/Neutering, do the benefits always outweigh the risks? (Not about pet overpopulation but for the dog)?
(Tue, 20 Apr 2010 20:59:19 GMT)
This is not a controlling pet overpopulation but about the individual dog. So forget for a moment that pet overpopulation is an issue.
I was reading this:
http://www.naiaonline.org/pdfs/LongTermHealthEffectsOfSpayNeuterInDogs.pdf
And it got me wondering if the benefits of spaying/neutering really do outweigh the risks.
This right here is enough to make me want to do more research or atleast hold out on spaying/neutering until my dog is older:
" The evidence shows that spay/neuter c

Resolved Question: My father is scaring me with his health issues.?
(Mon, 08 Feb 2010 15:55:46 GMT)
My father went on dialysis's in September. They had to place a catheter in his chest, coming right out of his heart. He is continually taking his bandages off and unwrapping the catheter . He has done this several times. He pulled on it to the point of it almost coming out! If you know anything about this type of of catheter, then you know what the outcome is. He would bleed to death in a matter of minutes. We had a new catheter reinserted last Friday. He just wont leave it alone. I stay over

Resolved Question: neutering your dog - where did you get your information from?
(Fri, 27 Nov 2009 05:04:12 GMT)
A question earlier asked for information on the 'cons' of neutering his male dog. Several of the answers stated that there were absolutely none. It amazes me that people still insist that are are no negative risks of neutering - the evidence simply does NOT support this one sided view
This is from a study done into over 50 peer reviewed articles on the 'Long-Term Health Risks and Benefits Associated with Spay / Neuter in Dogs"

(Sun, 22 Nov 2009 20:54:12 GMT)
If someone has a fistula that runs from the bowel to an opening next to the groin, is it likely that it can heal because this person has state health insurance which might not even want to pay for a surgery for the fistula to go away. It has gotten infected twice and required 2 courses of anti-bio-tics so far.

Resolved Question: urgent: personal statement to USF's nursing program?
(Sun, 01 Nov 2009 10:51:25 GMT)
WHAT DO YOU THINK???
My interest in nursing began with minor childhood ailments. When I was eight, I was sent home from school because I developed a moderate case of hives. Wanting to know more about my new discovery, I went straight to my mother's nursing books and medical encyclopedias. On another occasion, I was diagnosed as anemic and immediately headed for those books again. Such experiences as these built up incrementally throughout my adolescence, and by college I was fascinated by the

My mother has a mature AV fistula for dialysis on her left side. She has breast cancer on her left breast that has progressed rapidly and now needs a mastectomy. She has been on the waiting list to have the cancer removed for almost a year now.
