Your body normally cools itself by sweating. During hot weather, especially with high humidity, sweating just isn't enough. Your body temperature can rise to dangerous levels and you can develop a heat illness. Most heat illnesses occur from staying out in the heat too long. Exercising too much for your age and physical condition are also factors. Older adults, young children and those who are sick or overweight are most at risk. Drinking fluids, replenishing salt and minerals and limiting time in the heat can help.
Heat-related illnesses include
- Heatstroke - a life-threatening illness in which body temperature may rise above 106 F in minutes; symptoms include dry skin, rapid, strong pulse and dizziness
- Heat exhaustion - an illness that can precede heatstroke; symptoms include heavy sweating, rapid breathing and a fast, weak pulse
- Heat cramps - muscle pains or spasms that happen during heavy exercise
- Heat rash - skin irritation from excessive sweating

Voting Question: Should I put my grandmother in a nursing home?
(Sun, 15 Jan 2012 16:38:20 GMT)
My grandmother raised me from birth. I am 21yo, she is 66yo. She was diagnosed with a terminal illness in 2003 and given 3 years to live. Her health has declined but she is still here. My boyfriend moved into our apartment about a year ago to help me care for her. She is in the Hospice program. A nurse came to our house once a week. My grandmother is on oxygen 24/7. She smokes. I tried to make her quit smoking so many times. But her Hospice nurse basically said that she doesn't have much time

People are so naïve for they do not know where the authorities are leading the world. They could not even understand what God is doing to clear things out. In 2001, God made the author Winston Kayanan from the Philippines to invent a multi-purpose & multi-benefit technology in 3 months with the end in view of remaking & rebuilding earth by promoting biological activity in land, sea & air. This would undoubtedly stop & eradicate global warming & climate change because it will dramatically ind

Resolved Question: Should the government limit welfare benefits?
(Fri, 09 Dec 2011 21:37:37 GMT)
Welfare benefits were put in place to temporarily help those who have lost jobs, not those who are too lazy to work. There are generations of welfare recipients that have never had jobs. Why does it continue? I'm NOT talking about the truly "need based" welfare recipients like those with injuries or illnesses. I'm talking about people who are able to work but choose to mooch off the government. My dad has a PhD from a reputable university in Japan and he now works as a scientist at Johns Hop

If you've already read some of my other questions, you will understand why I have low confidence. But I will explain. I have been physically abused and am to this day I am verbally abused by my parents. This brings down my confidence because it makes me feel that if my own family can't accept me for who I am, then why should some random strangers? It doesn't help that all my huge dreams cone true for my best friend, and she brags to my face about it. In my class at school, if you aren't good a

In Daniel 7: 23, it says: “It will devour earth, crush it & destroy it.” This refers to the ill-fated acts of the fourth beast (identified by the author Winston Kayanan from the Philippines as UN’s Economic & Social Council), creating chaos & destruction on earth. One may think how can an organization cause & inflict greater horrifying & dreadful things on earth? Nobody can perceive such nature of injustice.
