What is Liver Transplantation?
Your liver helps fight infections and cleans your blood. It also helps digest food and stores energy for when you need it. You cannot live without a liver that works. If your liver fails, your doctor may put you on a waiting list for a liver transplant. Doctors do liver transplants when other treatments cannot keep a damaged liver working.
During a liver transplantation, the surgeon removes the diseased liver and replaces it with a healthy one. Most transplant livers come from a donor who has died. Sometimes a healthy person donates part of his or her liver for a specific patient. In this case the donor is called a living donor. The most common reason for transplantation in adults is cirrhosis. This is a disease in which healthy liver cells are killed and replaced with scar tissue. The most common reason in children is biliary atresia, a disease of the bile ducts.
People who have transplants must take drugs for the rest of their lives to keep their bodies from rejecting their new livers.

Hi, my fiancée has been diagnosed with Hepatitic C Virus (PCR: 75000). A week later we headed to a doctor who diagnosed her with Cirrhosis. The doctor said that it's not in the advanced stage. I read about the topic and understood that it's a serious disease and it's survival rate is too low. I also learned that in the very advanced stage the only option a patient has left is the liver transplantation procedure, which of course requires a donor with a healthy organ. I am doint this assessment on interdisciplinary health care on a patient who has acute liver failure, secondary to sepsis coming from her breast implants. She stated many times that she wants to be dead. Refuses liver transplantation or the removal of her breast implants. She rather be dead instead of removing these implants. As a interdisciplinary health care approach, in relation to her mental health who would be best to refer this patient to and why? Thanks alot in adavanced :)

Does Islam permit a person to will that his organ(s) be used through transplantation to others after his death? Is it permissable to a Muslim to use organs donated by others to save his own life or in expectation of improving his own chances of survival or improve his health and well being? Please provide references from the Quran or from authentic (Saheeh) Ahadees (Traditions of the Prophet, PBUH).
