Measles is an infectious disease caused by a virus. It spreads easily from person to person. The main symptom of measles is an itchy skin rash. The rash often starts on the head and moves down the body. Other symptoms include
- Fever
- Cough
- Runny nose
- Conjunctivitis (pink eye)
Sometimes measles can lead to serious problems. There is no treatment for measles, but the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine can prevent it. You may have heard of "German measles", also known as rubella, which is a different illness altogether.

Resolved Question: MMR vaccine and risk from Measles?
(Sun, 25 Sep 2011 18:03:31 GMT)
What effect did the drop in uptake of the MMR vaccine have? Shouldn't there have been an increase in cases of measles? Does the data from Norway (obviously from a small sample, see below) show potentially at least 1 in 9 people vaccinated with MMR are not protected against Measles? Would the around 16 deaths per year from Measles pre MMR have been prevented or were those people already so sick they would have died from a cold or something equally trivial? Is it worth vaccinating millions of he

I had my vaccinations as a kid...the meningitis, measles, mumps. Now with university starting, their health department wants students to make sure that these vaccines are done. I had them when I was a kid, and I can't find the record of it. I wanted to know if getting these vaccines again will be okay..or would it have any harmful side effects? Also, I had measles when I was 12 ... so do I need to get that vaccine again? Thanks!

My sister has absolutely no sense of responsibility for her son. She leaves him with my dad and I and goes to hang out with friends. Resolved Question: Are fears of measles outbreaks overhyped by the media?
(Fri, 20 May 2011 14:52:54 GMT)
Historically, the majority of children in technologically advanced countries recovered from measles without major complications. However, measles in teenagers and adults or in very young infants can be much more severe with serious complications and increased mortality. In 1941, there were 894,134 cases of measles reported, the highest number of cases ever reported in one year. A record low of 44 cases was reported in 2002. Some researchers believe that measles as a childhood disease in years

Resolved Question: Should vaccination for 'childhood illnesses' be mandatory?
(Thu, 21 Apr 2011 16:50:19 GMT)
I say, Yes. Even for home schooled children. Look at the problem they now have in Europe due to low levels of Measles vaccination. http://www.cbc.ca/news/health/story/2011/04/21/measles-europe.html?ref=rss A lot of states let parents opt out of crucial vaccinations for religious reasons, or even because they simply oppose it for any reason (i.e., ignorance). Resolved Question: Would you use vaccines with human diploid tissue (aborted babies)?

The fact that the Chickenpox, Hepatitis-A and MMR vaccines were developed using aborted fetal cell lines, MRC-5 and WI-38 has never been hidden from the public. The problem is that when parents go to their family doctors for vaccinations, who asks to see the product insert? Most parents want to know the risks and possible side effects. Like their doctors, parents are mostly concerned with the health of their children. And doctors, who have been administering the vaccines for years have nev

Resolved Question: Why was the demon theory of disease rejected in favor of the germ theory of disease?
(Thu, 30 Dec 2010 19:53:10 GMT)
Some christians claim that germs and disease do not preclude the presence of demons. It simply overlooks their presence entirely (no data). However, using the Hypothetico-Deductive method, we propose hypotheses and then observe to see if the hypothesis is confirmed or not. In the case of the germ theory, we observe the results when microorganisms are injected into animals, and observe the microscopic examinations of blood and tissue samples, and the effects and reproducibility of these obs

In very rare cases, If a doctor behaves unprofessionally this License to Practise can be withdrawn for the safety of others, thus preventing any further, possibly harmful behaviour.
