What is Neural Tube Defects?
Neural tube defects are birth defects of the brain and spinal cord. The two most common neural tube defects are spina bifida and anencephaly. In spina bifida, the fetal spinal column doesn't close completely during the first month of pregnancy. There is usually nerve damage that causes at least some paralysis of the legs. In anencephaly, much of the brain does not develop. Babies with anencephaly are either stillborn or die shortly after birth.
Getting enough folic acid, a type of B vitamin, before and during pregnancy prevents most neural tube defects. Treatments for neural tube defects vary depending on the type of defect.

I have an online health chart and receive e-mails when there's new test results. Well, I recently had my first trimester screen for down's syndrome and trisomy 13&18. The test came back into my chart, but for the results it said "sent to NTD laboratory- see separate report" There is no separate report in my chart, the doctor's haven't contacted me, nothing. I googled NTC laboratory and it came back as a private lab or as a neural tube defect- both pertain to this screen. Either way, should I b

My wife and I just got married and were not really planning for a baby so soon. But it happened any ways and my wife is pregnant now (7 weeks pregnant). The ultrasound was taken and doctor said things look fine and and that the baby is 7 weeks old.
