Nightmares, night terrors, sleepwalking, sleep talking, head banging, wetting the bed and grinding your teeth are kinds of sleep problems called parasomnias. There are treatments for most sleep disorders. Sometimes just having regular sleep habits can help.

Open Question: Is there a way to get REM Sleep with Severe Sleep Apnea & Narcolepsy/Cataplexy?
(Mon, 13 Feb 2012 20:07:22 GMT)
My husband has SEVERE Sleep Apnea and Narcolepsy. In his sleep studies, he wasn't having any REM sleep at all until his third sleep machine - the VPAP. Now, he gets about 20 minutes of REM in a 5 1/2 hour night sleep and no REM during his naps. He sleeps 5 1/2 hours at night like clockwork, wakes up, takes his 3 Provigil, eats toast and 1/2 hour later can't stay awake for anything. He's out cold for 3 hours (with no REM). His daytime sleep test for Narcolepsy show that he falls asleep with

I'm sixteen years old and I've had bulimia for about two years now, I make myself throw up about twice a day and I binge eat about once a day. On a a bad day I'll make my self throw up about four or five times a day. My sisters found out about it and they're planning on telling my father. I'm scared for my father knowing because I don't want him to be disappointed and I don't think he'll completely understand my situation. I want help so bad because I just want to be able to eat normally with

Open Question: I might be schizophrenic?

So, originally I was looking up psychosis because I was watching Abyss on TV, but when I looked it up I saw a few references to schizophrenia. I then looked through some articles, and 98% percent of the symptoms were ones that I showed. Wikipedia (I'm ignoring answers about Wikipedia edits) showed links to several other disorders, like OCD, ADD, tremors, and different social disorders. Most of what they talked about describes me to a T. I'd also like to know if it's possible to develop tardiv

Open Question: What is the physical reason for a person to sleep walk or sleep talk? Like a lack of a certain brain chemical?
(Sat, 11 Feb 2012 05:30:57 GMT)
So like I sleep walk and sleep talk. I've been told this is classified under the broad sleep disorder called Parasomnia. My doctor described it as the subconscious part of my brain takes over and my body just kinda goes with it. Like a seizure in a way but less detrimental to my health. But I've always wondered what actually is happening to my body, and why I don't really sleepwalk often but sleep talk every night and even when napping. Does my sleepwalking and sleeptalking relate to the conte

I figured I'd ask on here and see if anybody knew anything. I grind my teeth a lot at night and have symptoms similar to TMJ disorder. A dentist specializing in this x-rayed my jaw joints and said nothing was wrong with them. He made me a mouth guard to sleep in and told me to exercise and work on stress management. I do at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise a day and I just bought a book that showed me a few stretches for my head/back/neck muscles. Shoulder rolls, shrugs, head roll, stuff l

First i would like to clarify that although i suffer from social anxiety disorder and do miss a lot of attention from people, this post is NOT to do with attention seeking but more of a last hope of ideas? I won't bore you with history details because at the end of the day iv'e always believed in two things, 1. Very very very little people even care and 2. No one not even a Psychiatrist can do anything about it as it's my own mind. I got Clinical Depression, Severe Social Anxiety Disorder, S

Voting Question: how can I help? PLZ help me find a way!!!?
(Mon, 09 Jan 2012 18:24:53 GMT)
I'm worried about my husband, who is 260 lbs and only 6 foot, as his weight is in the danger zone and I don't want to lose him. His weight problem is undoubtedly a food addiction. His meal portions are huge, his snacking is constant (I've seen him grab snacks AS I was setting the table for dinner) and all his snack are like chips, cookies, beef jerky, etc. I've tried suggesting we don't buy those foods, but he buys them anyways. I tried replacing them with better for you foods but he won't

I go from being very, very happy (and being called crazy) to suddenly feeling very tired and sad and often thinking about death and "whats the point in going on" sort of thing. I went online to check up on some of the symptoms and I have a

Resolved Question: Diagnosis: Still Waiting?
(Thu, 05 Jan 2012 21:25:43 GMT)
Hey, I'm looking for a diagnosis to a mental health issue that has taken control of my life. I'm a 21 year old, 6'5", 190 lbs male. Here I go: I am a complete social recluse. I can't make conversation with anyone, let alone look them in the eye- not even my own mom. A conversation with me is a rollercoaster- I change tone, prosody, perspective, and overall behavior with just about every sentence because I'm so focused on myself, so as not to sound fake/ingenuine/attention seeking. I've alway
