Wounds include cuts, scrapes, scratches and punctured skin. They often occur as a result of an accident or injury, but surgical incisions, sutures, and stitches also cause wounds. Minor wounds usually aren't serious, but even cuts and scrapes require care. To avoid infection and aid healing
- Apply pressure with a clean cloth to stop bleeding
- Clean the wound with water
- Use an antibiotic ointment to prevent infection
- Bandage the wound if it's in an area that might get dirty
- Watch for swelling and redness
- Get a tetanus booster if you are due for one
Serious and infected wounds require medical attention. You should also seek attention if the wound is deep, if you cannot close it yourself, if you cannot stop the bleeding or get the dirt out, or if it does not heal.

Which of the following is an accurate generalization about health and sanitation at the Civil War battlefront? None of the above. Because of the large number of volunteer nurses in northern hospitals, army camps were free from typhoid, malaria, diarrhea, and dysentery. Although the ratio of disease to battle deaths was much better than during the Mexican War, two-thirds of deaths came from disease rather than battle wounds. Health conditions at the battlefront were so horrific that women w

Resolved Question: Pet lions dream?? meaning behind it?
(Tue, 17 Jan 2012 13:56:03 GMT)
I had a dream last night that had two pet lions in my townhouse apartment. They were both male. One adolescent and one cub. The adolescent was very intimidating and even tried to eat its cub! While nursing the cub back to health it turned into my 3 yr old daughter. I remember being worried but not thinking much of the weird transformation. I decided the older lion had to go. It was much too dangerous but instead of risking being caught with it, I let it out the Backdoor to potentially cause ha

Resolved Question: Where can I buy 35% food-grade hydrogen peroxide in Los Angeles County?

I'm not talking about the kind of hydrogen peroxide you can buy at any drug store that is used for cuts and wounds, I'm talking about the kind you put a few drops into water and drink. You would probably expect to find it at some health/nutrition shops, but I'm not having any luck finding any place that's near where I live that sells that stuff.

I now know why my neighbours cat is poorly although I still question the diagnosis. I am not a vet and I don't pretend to know better. She told me the vet said her glands were infected and she needed antibiotics. At the time she was also told her cat needed some teeth removed as they were rotten. This cat has a

Just wondered what people thought? The first time me and Harry Anderson had met, I was in my first year of High school. Two boys in Senior year would pin me up against the walls of the boy’s toilets, punch me around. I didn’t have the guts to fight back. Harry caught them that day. He wasn’t the first person to see them beating me, but all the rest seemed to look past it. For a moment or so they may have given me a sympathetic glance, but they would never intervene. In reality as long as it

I have been accused of scratching or picking my face to cause oddly oriented wounds and scars. After I applied hydrogen peroxide to my face at night, I awoke with burns, red craters, and layers of skin missing. One area looked like triangular burns with different layers of skin missing and peroxide caused the middle part of cystic acne to disintegrate, leaving hard dark raised edges. The last area missing skin was in a shape of a tear drop from the corner of my mouth, about 1cm in diameter.
