INFLUENZA (FLULAVAL) Side Effects Report # 344092
INFLUENZA (FLULAVAL) side effect was reported on 04/13/2009. Female patient, 42.0 years of age, was vaccinated with INFLUENZA (FLULAVAL). After vaccination, patient experienced the following side effects: alanine aminotransferase increased, antinuclear antibody positive, balance disorder, blood potassium decreased, blood product transfusion"numbness in fingers/hands/feet approximately 3 weeks post flu shot. Diagnosed with GBS. 4/27/09 Received hospital medical records of 11/24-12/1/2008. FINAL DX: Guillain-Barre; possible neurogenic bladder; e. cole UTI Records reveal patient experienced rapid onset of progressive weakness of LEs & UEs. Had been out of the country x 3 wks & during return flight home developed HA, hand weakness, difficulty walking, numbness of feet, balance difficulty, pain of upper back, glutes & thighs . Neuro consult done. Reflexes diminished. LP done & tx w/IVIG x 5 days w/some improvement. Had neurogenic bladder requiring Foley cath. Had continued neuropathic pain of right side. Improved slowly & d/c to inpatient rehab.". unknownNKDA PMH: DDD c-spine. Endometriosis w/surgery. Family hx: DM."LABS: CSF: WBC 1, RBC 2, protein 37.5, glucose 63. Potassium 3.2(L), sodium 133(L). ANA(+), SSA 193(H). WBC 12.8(H), ANC 8.3(H). ALT 42(H). UA abnormal, c/s (+). EKG abnormal w/ nonspecific t-wave changes & prolonged QT. MRI c-spine" . Patient was hospitalized Patient recovered.
