I have a copper IUD and for the first time I had problem with dryness during sex with my boyfriend. We used condoms the entire time and we'd had foreplay for about 30 minutes. No matter how long we had sex I was still dry and the condom made it uncomfortable. I don't have a problem with itching or anything downstairs. I'm worried it might be the copper IUD causing me to dry up or if I might have a yeast infection though I haven't noticed any other symptoms but dryness. All the STD clinics are closed where I live right now, so I'm asking for some thoughts on this for the weekend. I have been tested for HIV and chlamydia which were both negative. I take cortisone, azathioprine and iron supplement every day.
We used latex condoms. This has never happened to me before.

Hi everyone
I have a severe form of inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis. For the last 8 months I have been taking prednisolone and pentassa with a hope to go into remision but unfortunately everytime I try to taper down the steroids my symptoms get worse again.
My consultant wants to now move me onto either azathioprine or methotrexate and has given me the choice. To be honest, the thought of either drug terrifies me.
I also have a couple of other autoimune problems, arthritis and sjogrens syndome.
I'm interested in anybody's story who has been on either of these medications. How did you find them? Did they help?
Thank you in advance

tiredness, i cant concentrate due to my cramps, are these good excuses not to go to school?
when i go to the toilet, i lose alot of blood, and i may go 4 times a day to the toilet, i try not to go..
what can i do to compensate for the loss of blood? i mean it must cause something..
i am going to have my first colonoscopy soon, im very nervous, but oh well any tips?

I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in November, but I think I've had it for a while before that.
Right now I'm taking azathioprine and iron three times a day, and a capfull of miralax at dinner time.
I really don't like the idea of taking medicine. I've always hated it. Even when I was younger I would rather stick out a headache than take even asprin or tylenol.
I've been reading that switching to a raw vegan diet can sometimes cure Crohn's disease for some people. I'd like to try it for a few months at least to see if it helps at all.
Anyways, I'd like to stop taking the azathioprine. I talked to my doctor about it and she said that the risk of not taking it is probably worse than the risk of taking it.
My question is, what's the risk of not taking the azathioprine? Could it worsen my Crohn's?

I have owned a horse for 10 years and for about the past 5 years he has had chronic diarrhea. We have had numerous vets work with him and nothing has helped. The severity of the diarrhea can go from not so bad to water. Not surprisingly, he also has a lot trouble keeping weight on. He also seems to have a sweating problem. He becomes drenched in sweat randomly-even if it's extremely cold outside. Sometimes he will shiver when it's quite hot out. I have tried "Probios" which most people recommend. We have checked his thyroid.. ulcers.. fecal samples for various things.. etc. Nothing found. Does anyone have any advice? I don't know what else to try. I am going to send in a fecal sample to the UW Madison equine clinic.

i have felt awful for ages now, i didnt have a sore throat really but noticed really bad infection (white patches and spots) on my tonsils.
it may have been there for i dont know how long.
went to docs (dec 30th 2012) and got ten days (4 doses daily) course of penicilin from doc so and i qoute "so it wont come back"
finished those and feel awful again and spots are coming back.
I have crohns disease and take the highest possible dose for my weight of azathioprine too so i really really struggle with infections.
is it tonsilitis without the sore throat?? is that even possible??
is it even worth going for more antibiotics if the last lot didnt work???

I got diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis last january (2012).
I should be taking mesalazine and azathioprine everyday a few times. Since about maybe late october i havent been taking any, or very rarely i might have my 2 azathioprine if i feel like it. (This is because i have awful gag reflexes and gag and/or throw up when i put tablets in my mouth.)
Anyway, considering i never have my tablets, i only need the "toilet" (to empty my bowels) when i wake up in the morning. Never during the day, only when i wake up. Most days its quite runny i guess. But nearing night time i do get gassy. :$ but never need the toilet.
Am i in remission or nearing remission?
Sorry for long question, thank you for any answers.

So I have Crohn's Disease and am on both Infliximab and Azathioprine which on their own increase the risk of Lymphoma but when put together are a much increased risk. I am just 14 years old and a female who found a lump about 3 weeks ago on the left of my neck, just under my chin. Ever since, the lump has gotten bigger and it is still growing. It's fixed and not at all painful too. I saw my GP who doesn't know anything about my medication and treatment for Crohn's so has no idea of the risks associated so his ideas about my lump were considered invalid. He said I had a small crack in my lip and it was probably causing my lymph nodes to be up however, I cut got that crack in my lip about 2 weeks after finding the lump and I got the crack when my brother bumped me whilst eating a Zooper Dooper (tube ice block) and the plastic cut my lip. I called a gastroenterologist who knows me well and he said that the cut on my lip has nothing to do with it and with my risks of lymphoma, he would h

i have a pup that i got at 6 months old. we gave her a full body check up after getting her and she was all fine, then we spayed her. she was all fine for 1 month or so when she suddenly got really sick, we got her to the vet and she was diagnosed with anaemia. apparently her immune system is killing off her red blood cells. so she was placed on steroids (prednisolone). her dosage was way higher than what she was supposed to take but the vets had no choice as the moment her dosage was reduced her blood count dropped again. so she has already been on steroids for 8 months and its taking a toll on her body. she is now on a human cancer drug (azathioprine) and it seems to be giving her diarrhoea and vomiting.
i just wonder if there are dog survivors out there that suffered from Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia before.
Im close to giving up and im really tired. But i love her alot. Please give me the courage to go on.

My 28 year old brother recently started to oddly lose his hair, he had a quarter sized bald spot on his head that just occurred almost immediately. For two months, that quarter sized bald spot spread to be the size of his fist, and he is losing more and more hair every day. He is also always so tired and has random joint pains.
So I forced him to go to the doctor and he was sent to get blood work done, the results came back as him having Lupus. The doctor said that she's 90% positive that this is what's causing the mysterious hair loss, fatigue, joint pains, as well as other symptoms.
My brother does eat a lot of processed foods and he smokes. He's the type of person that would choose a package of mozzarella sticks over a delicious meal. I absolutely hate that because both my mother and I are excellent cooks and beg to make food for him. So we are hoping that him now eating fresh homemade food and quitting smoking will somehow help him with keeping so many toxins out of his body.

im 19 and little underweight, a couple of months ago i had a flare up but since ive recovered ive started to see changes in my belly, I don't know if it is bloated or fat but it is really rounded and it seems like it is fat. i do aerobics for 30 mins a day and started 2 months ago a healthy diet plan. Over the years i hardly ever use to drink water - just fizzy pop but the last year ive been drinking a lot more water, ive stopped eating chocolates and crisps - anything which has a lot of calories.
i am planning on going to see my doctor as i do not know what is wrong with me.
can anyone help me figure out what is going on with me, i am really confessed,is it my diet or not enough exercise or can it be related to medication or could it be due to having Crohn's - the medication I am taking is Azathioprine.
can anyone help?

I'm desperately looking for other options. My 8 year old Italian Greyhound was diagnosed with Evans Syndrome (IMHA and ITP) 2 months ago. Initially she responded great to steroid therapy, her HCT/RBC was normal within a few weeks, her platelets only took about 2 weeks to rebound. She's been stable since with values well within normal ranges - Until 12 days ago. Took her in for a recheck, and her platelets had fallen to 118 again. Vet wasn't to concerned since it wasn't to scary low, but advised me to raise her steroid back up a step and come back in a week. A week later it was clear we where in trouble, she had alot of bruising again, blood work confirmed her platelets had fallen to 37. The IMHA is still well controlled, and those values are holding, but her ITP is in full swing again :( If her platelets don't start responding soon, I'm not sure what else we can do! She is currently on Prednisolone, Cyclosporine, Azathioprine, Melatonin, B Vitamins, as well as Carafate and

The chronic pain and fatigue continue to be ongoing issues for me. I have a great physician who is willing to treat these symptoms aggressively. However, I am having a hard time finding something that works. I have been from Lortab 5/500 all the way to methadone 10 mg. The best thing that worked was Butrans, but I had skin reactions to the patch. Suboxone caused extreme nausea and vomiting. At this point, I am at a loss. I feel like my constant complaining is irritating my doc and honestly, I am tired of it as well. Please give me some advice. I also do not have presently have insurance because I lost my previous job secondary to being so tired that I had a hard time maintaining my schedule. Thanks.

I have autoimmune hepatitis, for which im taking prednisolone and azathioprine, and im taking propanolol for portal hypertension as a result of this. My blood results have, on the most part, always been steady and within acceptable limits, with a slight dip a year ago when I overindulged on my stag week in Estonia. I was diagnosed with this about ten years ago when I was 18 and stopped drinking for a few years, then my doctor said that I could drink on occasions as long as I didn't go stupid with it. I've never had any alcohol related problems, but I stopped drinking completely about a month ago and have decided that I've had my fun with alcohol, so Im now playing it straight. However, for the past couple of weeks I've felt a bit weird. I'm not depressed, just feeling a bit 'numb' (i guess that's the closest word I can put to describe it). I also cant tell if i'm hungry or full, but I don't have much of an appetite. My bowel movements, whilst regular, are a little like diarrhea like,

Hi, I'm 13 and I've had eczema all my life. It's starting to get a pain, as I sweat in the night it starts to itch. a while ago I put: aveeno, Hydrocortisone, Elocon, Pumps and other things on it, nothing seemed to work, I went to the doctors and everything and they just provided me with the same things, usually when I leave it it's fine. But lately i keep getting it around my mouth and chin, and It gets flaky, red and itchy. And I get embarrassed a lot at school, these boys were making fun of me because of it (lol) which was pathetic, I cant seem to get rid of it now. I've only been using aveeno and this other small thing i forgot what it was called on my face. Seeing as the weather is windy too it blows all the moisture off my face so that doesn't help, I've heard that you can use honey to get rid of it? I'll have to ask my mum because I have allergies too so my skin reacts really easily, is there any simple, hypoallergenic things I could do? Sorry, but it's a big pain and it's so

This is the second time I've had it. I'm on azathioprine (Immune suppressants) tablets because of my Crohns Disease. Basically every time I get the cold virus, scabs/sores develop in my nostril. It has the yellowy, infected, fluid that seeps from it if I pick it and sometimes it bleeds. It eventually gets worse and spreads on the insides of my septum and into the other nostril. It also makes the skin on the outside of my nose dry and peel (Just around the septum and on the bulb), which can also turn very red and nippy. I've been to the doctor about it twice and he gave me blue pills- which didn't work and two different creams- which didn't really help much either, along with no explanation to what it was that was wrong with my nose!

I'm 16 and I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis about a year ago. A couple of months back, I was having severe complications and was hospitalized for a week. They did another colonoscopy and found out that they may have misdiagnosed and now believe it's Crohn's because they found more inflammation than just in my colon. I've been on so many different medications and the disease just won't go into remission. As a matter of fact, it's getting much worse. I'm at the point where I can barely leave my house because I'm in so much pain all the time. I'm currently taking asacol 3 times a day, flagyl 3 times a day, and I receive remicade through an IV once a month. I keep losing weight drastically. I lose so much blood that I've almost had to have an emergency blood transfusion twice. My doctor has switched my medications about 5 times now and still, nothing is working. I'm also very careful about what I eat and drink as to not irritate my stomach. I'm really worried about what's going on
