I suffer from severe migraines. I take 150mg topomax daily and maxalt, sumatripan or froava as needed for breakthru migraines. I just found out I'm 4 weeks pregnant thru a blood test. Since conception (technically 2 weeks) I've taken one maxalt and one frova. Both are classified as Class C drugs. I take it for migraines and i took 2 like it said.I didnt exceed the dose or anything,it says to take 2 and thats what the doctor told me. I'm reffering to the ones that are used to abort a migrane (Maxalt, Axert, Imitrex, Frova, etc) Question is, these drugs are in the same category and chemically built the same, right? So how come some are covered by insurance some are not, Some are cheaper than others, if they are basically the same thing and work the same way, targeting the serotonin levels.. .. ???

Zomig 5mg takes about 1hr to work. Tried Frova too, took alot longer. Doctor doesnot give too many on rx, so I have to really be in alot of pain to take what he gives me. I have asked him to give me more so I won't suffer as long, but still he write it for 12 pills. I get about 2 headaches a month. Dr says it is hormonal. I would like to try the natural approach and see if I can either reduce or prevent these headaches. Has anyone tried something that really does work? Motrin and OTC does not

Let me first say, yes I have suffered from migraines since I was 14. They were infrequent. About 3 a year. The last 3 weeks I have had 10 migraines. All lasting for days at a time. I went to a nurologist today for my migrains and he perscribed topamax for my migrains. My other Doctor gave me darvocet but doesnt want me to take it long term. I have just recently been to another specialist for my migraines, they are taking completely over my life. He told me that I would be very hard to be treated outpatient and he does not do inpatient, but will work with me to see if anything will help. Ok... I've been to an ENT as sinus problems run in the family. No results. There is no problems there. CT scan was normal also. But, chronic migranes also run in the family. I usually take 100mg of Imitrex to treat my migraines, however my neurologist has me taking 2.5mg of Frova to prevent them from coming (2x a day for one week of the month). I suffer from Migraines. They used to mimic a stroke. However the symptoms have changed. I get the aura right before and it is usually florescent lights that do it. I discovered this when I used to have really bad migraines. It didn't work as well for the migraines as some of the more modern treatments such as Frova and Relpax. It totally alleviated my cramps. And is there anything similar or natural that could achieve the same effect?

I have one every 6-8 weeks and I think it's the weather or climate causing mine. I'm on a nightly preventative medicine which is actually a seizure medicine and I take Frova and 4 motrin when one comes on. I want to know what other people take and how that works for you. Thanks!
