I was diagnosed on Monday. I am seeing my oncologist Friday to start Gleevec. I am in the Chronic Phase. I am scared they will tell me I am worse though because the testing won't be complete until then. Please help me to feel better about this.

I'm investigating the possibility for my relative who is in China and was diagnosed with GIST cancer. If he meets all the eligibility criteria of the trial, what does he have to do to get in the trial being a non-US citizen? Anything in particular? Would he be responsible for the full costs of the trial or if the trial is sponsored by a drug company, could he get the trial drugs for free(Gleevec)? How would monitoring post-treatment be done if he is leaving abroad?
