My daughter (8 yrs.old) diognised with CML. she was admitted in cancer inst. chennai on Nov.10 with the WBC count is 300000 and bcr/abl is 97%. the wbc was reduced through hydrie. now she is taking imatinib - 300mg per day at a time. bcr/abe is now 63% as on 28.12.06. plan for BMT from my 1 & half yr. 2nd daughter. need good suggestion to do BMT.

What featues of this drug is responsible for its biological activity and how does it interact with its binding site?

a patient on imatinib for 2 months with a good hematologic response develops myasthenia gravis with positive antiacetylcholine receptor antibodies and no evidence of a thymoma on CT thorax. Could this be due to the disease or could it be due to imatinib induced autoantibodies?? Imatinib is known to produce autoantibodies against muscle and pulmonry interstitium. Or could it be due to leukemia antigen causing an autoimmune response against the myoneural junction??
