I started out taking Clonidine and now I have been on Vasotec/Enalapril for a couple years and it is losing it's effectiveness. What would be the next medication that is a little stronger than Vasotec?

Ok guys i need some help. I have high Blood pressure. Just recent within a month and a half I was diagnosed. 1st med was vasotec generic 5mg. DID NOT WORK. 2nd medication was clonidine .1mg. This only worked while in emergency room. lowered my BP from 144/98 to 114/71.(the same thing happened when i got the vasotec in the ER. BP dropped to 125/85, but I NEVER saw that again. My daughter has hypertension, she's only two. Apparently she's had it for a while so she's had the thickening of the heart or how ever they call it. Hello, I'm 72 and overweight with very slight Edema. Lately, the fluid build up has increased substantially. I've just started on enalapril 5.0 mg (vasotec) it is an ACE inhibitor. I'm taking it in the late afternoon because, for unknown reasons, my BP is going up super high at night only (like 160/100). I checked my blood pressure today it was 95/52 which I think is kinda too low. And I have genetic high blood pressure even though Im 15 and nothing else is wrong with me(I have checked my kidneys and blood and heart). They gave me Vasotec to lower my blood pressure. IT is only 5 mg and is the lowest dose you can get. Should I get taken off the medication or is that blood pressure fine? Thanks! I dont have any dizziness or anything like that. A. AZT 100 P.O. TID B. Coumadin 1.0 mg P.O. daily C. Synthroid .1 mg P.O. every AM D. Vasotec 5 mg P.O. daily I was thinking B or D, but Coumadin should be taken the same time daily, so maybe its D? Any other takers on this question??? usually doctors write Coumadin as 1.0 mg P.O. at 5 pm or whatever time they think it should be given. I chose D for the same reasons everyone listed. I know its a side effect...but whats causes the side effect?

My couging got worse a few months ago. My doctor stated the meidication Vasotec could be my problem. Today he finally determined this and ask me to refrain from taking Vasotec for 5 days and to drink Pedilyte to wash the drug from my system. My sister just told me that she had a problem with excessive chronic coughing while taking this drug. I looked it up in Google but it mentioned coughing but not a lot of details. Someone out there PLease Help!!!
