Okay so about 3 and a half weeks ago my doctor started me up on Wellbutrin, to help me control my excessive binging which was getting so bad that I literally put on five pounds in one week and it wasn't slowing down. I've always suffered from MDD and have been on other antidepressants such as, cipralex, trazadone, and prozac. Initially it seemed like the 150mg he told me to take in the morning was helping. I lost my appetite a bit, was able to tell myself 'no' and was feeling more motivated to exercise again, the only problem was at first I had a bit of trouble sleeping but that went away. But as of a few days ago my binging has picked up again and all I wanna do is lay in bed. He told me when he prescribed it that he would start me on 150mg to take in the morning and then if it didn't work he would bump me up. I've been on paxil for a little over two weeks now. I was on celexa but it wasn't working for me but i got the hot flashes on celexa too. I have been battling severe anxiety and depression all my life. I have tried alot of different antidepressants, benzodiazepines, buspar and off label things like mood stabilizers and antipsychotics. All the meds I tried were either sugar pills or just gave me bad side effects. I take Wellbutrin XL 300mg and Paxil 40mg. The Wellbutrin works great for my ADHD, or helps better then nothing as I refuse to take Adderal. I am wondering about the cognitive effects of various drugs. For example, many students take Adderall to help them study, and while it is true it can help you focus for long periods I have also heard it can dull your cognitive function. In other words, if you have a long boring but somewhat simple paper to read or write its great, but if it requires deep intellect and abstract or complex thinking you may actually hurt yourself with it. I am also wondering about antidepressants for the same reason. Granted if you are in deep depression you cannot think clearly. However, if you are only mildly depressed is it possible that antidepressants can cloud your cognitive function to some degree? We all know that some of the greatest music and poetry have come from deeply depressed people, would they have still created their art had they been on antidepressants? I have been taking Bupropion HCl (generic Wellbutrin) 150mg XL once a day for anxiety for about 2-3 months. It has worked well but I still get a little anxious. So, my doctor told me to take 2 daily, which equals 300mg in the morning. I'm bipolar and I am taking medication for it, I take trileptal, navane and wellbutrin. I started taking Effexor Friday night. Felt nausea immediately afterward, woke up abnormally early the next morning. Was calm throughout most of the day, motivated even... But throughout the whole day I have had no libido whatsoever... A purported side effect, very strange for a 17 year old male. I was able to climax masturbating but I felt almost no pleasure at all, though I was able to maintain an erection longer than usual. Anyways, I don't think I can live without my libido. This stuff screws with your brain on the most intimate level, probably causing permanent damage. I'm taking a comically small dose of 25mg oral tablets (no extended release) twice a day. I've been on Sertraline for about 2 years 150mg a day for depression however it doesnt seem to make any difference to my mental health. I asked my psychiatrist if i could try Wellbutrin as ive read online that it is good for weightloss as well as depression. Wellbutrin isnt prescribed for depression in the UK anymore though. I have borderline personality disorder and I'm on lamictal for my anger. I talked to my psych about getting something for my mood swings. She suggested Wellbutrin. For the last 3 months or so, I've gone from feeling and looking very healthy, to gaining a lot of weight quickly, being constantly tired, and feeling very depressed and grouchy for no reason. When I first went on lamictal I noticed that I started having some blurry vision, and I guess that blurry vision has basically been there since I have been taking it for 2 1/2 years, I noticed it got a bit worse lately, specifically this winter, also around the time I started lamictal I started topomax 25 mg 4 months earlier. I have been on many, many medications for my depression..When I was first diagnosed, I was about 18. Honestly, I really didn't believe that I was depressed. They had put me on Prozac, and I didn't notice any changes in me. After a few years I felt actual depression and anxiety creeping in. I was on Paxil and then Lexapro. I was on Lexapro for a several years. Then that Med stopped working and I was put on Zoloft which eventually stopped working as well. Finally my doctor put me in Celexa, which was the best depression Med I have ever taken. When I took that I felt alive, woke up early and ready to start the day.
