Amias

My husband was given steriod injection into his feet. Within four hours his heart beat was over 120 from 51, and they said he had a heart attack. Intensive tests revealed a very strong heart with no blockages, no HBP, no colestral. Yet they put him on Amias, and now for the first time in his life he has bouts of irregular heart beats. Very very tired, dizzy, headaches. Had an op on his foot- ankle replacement - no problems. But the Amias side effects are making him ill.
He had itchy bumps on his back, hard stools also.Blood tests show normality. So why give him this which is doing to him what he never had before- heart problems.?

I started taking 4mg after 18 days felt extremly tired,headaches,joint pains and extreme muscle ache stopped taking the tablets for two days feeling much better will not be taking these again under any circumstances !!

I have been on Amias-Candesarten 32mg for about a year now and I always try to take a new tablet for about that time to see if my body accepts them or starts to develope side effects and in the case of the Amias I am getting Back ache,muscle ache,difficult breathing,Wheezing,Very tired,Insomnia,Severe Itching with lumps coming up where I itch.lightheadedness,impared vision.I am also taking asprin and Doxasosin 1mg and I have severe Tinnitus.All tablets have side effects it is difficult to find one that does not.I have tried the same ones as 'Chompers' and others and apart from the side effects Amias seems to be the mild one. 

Been on Amias 4mg for 2 months now.  I've had almost consistent diahorrea since starting these tablets, but am being told by my GP this is stress related ( - reluctant to believe given I didn't suffer with it when I had a 2 week break from the meds due to other tests being carried out).   Anyone else suffered this side effect?  Have also found I am suffering insomnia (also put down to stress) and lower back pain...any ideas whether the drug is to blame for all these symptoms?

I'm  on 2mg's and only been on them for a week BUT am experiencing Respiratory problems i.e. swelling of the throat.  Had these same problems whilst taking the previous drug i.e. Lisinopril.  Is this a common Amias Side Effect ?

Your experience of side effect having to take Amias medication for your High Blood Pressure is common. I am on the same medication and the side effect is itching, tiredness and light headed as though a dark cloud is hanging over me. I have been on this medication for 3 years and I find it at times my alertness is just not there. I am trying to find an alternative, maybe Beetroot juice and Cellery juice everyday could help to control HBP.

Well I sometimes get joint pains, but this causes me itchy legs, but stay on it as I have had some terrible effects on tablets.  My blood pressure is 150/94 but they have increased dose by 4mg hope this will help me becasue I will take the risk not taking any more other tablets.

well I get itching legs with it was on 32mg and was really bad now on 20mg just put aqueuas cream on twice a day any body got any other ideas to stop itching.

Horrible tablets that I have been on are ramipril, dr zozin, almodipine, lispiniril, nobivil, feleodopine and a few others.  I refuse to take any different tablet other than Amias now.

Hi there,  I have been on amias was put up to 32mg and got reallly bady itching.   I am now on 16mg and not so bad.  I have had eight different blood pressure tablets and terrible effects, like bloated stomach could not eat, blocked up nose and head.  I refuse to take any other tablets now except these.  Do not let doctors say there are no side effects when you experience them.  My blood pressure is 150/94 but just taking another 4 mg if it goes to 140 Ill be happy but certainly not taking any more horrible tablets.

i have had high blood pressure for about 3 years now and my doctor cant get it to go down at the moment it is 180/101,my doctor is concerned and i have been prescribed with about 8 types of different meds but only one i can take is tildiem but it is not enough to take it down,all the other meds i get severe side effects from and my doctor is running out of options,the last med i was prescribed was amias and the side effect i had with it was tiredness so severe that i was literally falling asleep at anytime of the day,so that was a no no,im still waitiing for a med that suits me.

Like you I was taking Ramipril 5mg for about 2 yr; I develloped a cough quite early on however I contiued to take them for two years my cough got realy bad and I had a tightness in my chest ..I went to the Dr and he changed me onto Amias16mg after about three or four day I started to have pains in my hands and feet as I am 69 I thought it was arthritis and continued with the medication 6 weeks into it the pain was getting so bad I coud'nt grip and limping...I returned to the Dr and again he changed the Tabs for another, Aprovel I am now 4 weeks into these ones and no problems yet .

Awful muscle pains - almost thought I had arthritis until my wife was put on the same tablets and she started getting exactly the same symptoms. Sometimes our finger joints hurt so much that you cannot clench your fist and trying to sleep with awful neck pain that goes up into one side of your head.

I have been on Amias for 7 years and have had no side effects from this tablet.  I was changed from Ramipril as I developed a cough which still persisted after two years.   It still come back at intervals.  Burton

achy and flu like symptoms in the joints were painful.

my doctor changed me from Ramipril 5mg to Amias 4mg because of developing a bad cough while taking Ramipril.
but only five days into Amias i became lothargig tiredness headaches, dizzy and pains in my feet while in bed. i realy felt useless and shaky. so stopped taking them and felt better right away although my BP stayed high at 170+/90.
I am back on ramipril 5mg today and hope the antibiotics the doctor gave me helps with my cough.
