Articaine

I had two (maximum) injections into my right lower gum. I had a slight tingling but normality returned within 15 minutes and so the work done was effectively executed without anesthetic - with my permission. I now have moderate jaw ache, which surprises me since the work done was minima - and the ache itself is mostly in the very bottom of the jaw, furthest from the teeth.

Numbness lasted 5-6 hours at least. Then face gradually swelled up like a water balloon and drooped and felt hot to the touch. Swelling finally subsided several days later after ongoing regimen of Ibuprofen and Benadryl, as prescribed by dentist.

Lower left jaw remained numb for 48 hours but I started to get feeling back little by little after three days. Now nearly four weeks on my lip still has a patch where there is little feeling and I get pins and needles in the area at times.I think this is called parenthesis (altered sensation). My GP says it could remain so for a long time. Not impressed.
