Beano

I started taking beano 2 months ago. I have suffered from gerd/reflux since I was a child. I am 50 now & beano has worked for me better than any othet over the counter product and way better than any prescription drug I have ever been prescribed. I have taken tums, rolaids, mylanta liquid/pills, gaviscon, alka seltzer, nexium, prevacid, priloses, tagament, etc. Nothing has worked so quickly. All the other medications I took still left me sick. They only took the edge off. So if you suffer not just from gas, it is certainly worth a try. I know everyone is different. But beano works for me. I was contemplating major surgery, and originally bought bean for my husband because he loves redbeans! I never could eat them because of my stomach condition. However I can now with beano. Only bad thing is if it works as well for others who try it, beano might double their price, lol. But I would still buy it!

Beano contains Magnesium Stearate. Magnesium Stearate is toxic.Now wonder some of you had diarrhea,stomach pains,and constipation.Magnesium Stearate will suppress the immune system.No thanks beano,I would rather fart!!

Why is theire sudden dizziness after taking beano ?

It works for me, which kinda stinks ;) because my farts were fantastic! I would record them on my Iphone and text the sound clip to my wife. She has since lost all the humor (if she ever actually had any) and made me take Beano. It works.

abdominal discomfort, cramping

Cramping pain began in abdominal area which is just below the sternum to about two inches above the navel. Althugh it is summertime, there is a sweating that is occuring which I believe is related to this cramping pain. Pain can also feel like it is localized at one various spots that are distinct from one another (one mild pain in the front and one in the back).

Sadly, this happened to me the first time I ever used Beano, several years ago, and for some strange reason, while eating a meal of beans, decided to try Beano again. Since I am experiencing pain and discomfort this must be an affirmation that the pain experienced in the first instance was due to some side effect/allergic reaction to Beano.

A few months ago I decided to start eating healthier and have incorporated many more fruits and veggies into my diet. I've always had the normal gas problems, but when I started eating more ruffage, discomfort came, too. Not only have I been embarrassed because of my farts, but I was bloated all day long- so much that I couldn't contract my abs! I started using Beano about 2 months ago. Beano has eliminated my bloating by 90%! I love this product! And I have much less gas, as well! I take Beano before any meal, small or big, that I eat. I have not experienced any bad side effects while taking this product. I proudly recommend this product to anyone! While I have read that some people experience abdominal pain, others like myself, and maybe you, will find that this product will change your life for the better! I love Beano!

Gas, loose stool and general abdominal discomfort.

I have anal itching after taking Beno. I took it for a few days and it started immediately. I thought maybe it was something else but after not taking it for several days I tried again with the same results. No more Beno for me.

I tool 2 Beano pills last night for the first time as directed to prevent gas when I ate lentil soup. 2 hours after dinner, I was itching (no skin rash, just felt like something is crawling in my skin and got worse and kept me awake all night. Does anyone with same itchy side effect know how long it takes for the itchiness to stop or does it warrant seeing a doctor? The medicine seemed harmless from whatever is in the label BUT I WILL NEVER TAKE THIS AGAIN!!!!

I've used Beano, off and on, for more than 19 years. Never had any bad side-effects that I'm aware of. I used to prefer the liquid form but the local Walmart stopped carrying it. My diet tends to include a great deal of roughage when I'm using it, e.g. 6 ounces of Granola, half a small green cabbage (raw) a big apple, orange, banana, sun flowers seeds, and so on, with the expected regular healthy bm's. Sometimes I wonder if there are any long-term side-effects to Beano use.

Took Beano before eating a meal of steamed broccoli and steamed chicken. Within 15 minutes I was in agony. Tremendous amount of gas, bloating, cramping, nausea, cold sweats. Torrential diarrhea and headache set in when I got home. I thought I had gotten food poisoning at the restaurant. Had lentils for lunch about a week later, took Beano again beforehand, with the same painful results. I read Beano becomes inactive at high temperatures. Drank some very very hot water, which helped the adverse symptoms to abate more quickly. Where is the warning about this product?

I took Beano and had absoulutely no side effects. the best thing for gas. I have suffered with gas for years. all beans broccoli and cabbage and bell peppers were off my menu. now I can enjoy those healthy foods again. thanks to beano

My mother ate the same meal and the Beano, and had no gas or other problems. It has always worked for her in the past. But now, I know--Not for me! Misery! I am going to try the anti-fungal beta glucann mentioned in another post!

I took Beano and about 15 minutes later I had the most horrible pains in my upper abdomin and threw up several times.  Also, had diarrhea.  Thought I had a stomach bug and 10 days later ttok it again.  Less than 10 minutes later those same awful pains came back and again I threw up. I will NEVER take this again. If I hadn't had my gall bladder removed 2 yrs ago, I definately would have thought that is what it was.

wish i'd read this sooner!  Extreme smelly flatulence disturbing my sleep (and my neighbors!) and sick feeling and dizzy!

Beano sufferers, pick up anti-fungal beta-glucann (at a good health store or online through the man with the TV show "Know the Cause") to get your body back on track--don't let a fungal condition set in, it causes a myriad of problems from chronic fatigue to cancer.    

I JUST TOOK BEANO AND IMMEDIATELY BECAME SICK FEELING!!!! THAT IS RIDICULOUS!! I WISH I WOULD HAVE READ THIS BEFORE!!! NEVER IMAGINED ANYTHING LIKE THIS! I took Beano for the first time last night (just before dinner) and this morning, I have been experiencing weird abdominal pain, black loose stools, a mild fever and a pinching pain in my left-center chest.  I was wondering if the Beano caused the problem, so I decided to Google the Side Effects of Beano and lo and behold I discovered so many other people had a similar experience with this product.  I will cease taking this product immediately!

Have taken Beano twice now and experienced immediate horrific nausea, vomiting, then headache and ear stuffiness. Spent all day yesterday in bed, experiencing stomach pain and swollen feeling in abdominal area. I will never take that again, as I am positive now that it was the Beano, not the foods ingested, which caused the problem. I continue to have abdominal swelling and inflammation along with constipation now. This is crazy, can't believe how sick this made me. I am a generally healthy individual, but feel like I have been poisoned. Never again.

I BECAME VERY NERVOUS AFTER ABOUT 3 OR 4 HOURS

I've been suffereing from IBS for 20 years now.  Over the years, doctors have perscribed medications to illeviate the excruciating pain I feel after I eat almost anything.  Side affects included nausea, dizzy ness and fainting. 

Over time, I've leared to mange that pain by knowing what triggers it and what doesn't,  however, I've had to give up a lot of my favorite foods like mexican, fried foods and foods with veggie oil, animal fat, mayo or salad dressing.  Also, dairy products.

I tried Beano with it came out and I use it constantly!  Sometimes, once or twice a day.  The only side affect I have is constipation and sometimes a burning sensation in my throat like heartburn, but it doesn't last long.  These are things I'm willing to tolerate.  Now I can go out with friends and not have to worry about what I ate or how long I'll be in the bathroom!

Im wondering if the gas produced by calcium products can be mitagated with beano.

I took Beano (only one pill) last week and 2 hours later I ended up with a terrible stomach pain. I did not connect the dots, I suspected that it was caused by certain ingredients in the food I was eating. It was a very unique pain (severe burning sensation from your throat to your stomach), I never felt anything like that before.
Today I took two Beano tablets before dinner, because I made chili.
Two hours later I had exactly the same type of stomach pain that I had last week.
The two dinner menus were completely different. I am positive that the pain I am having now was caused by Beano.

The first time I took Beano was about four months ago.  I threw up, but thought it was just a coincidence.  I took it again last week and have had four days of Hell.  My entire GI tract felt like it was on fire.  I had such pain on the right side of my rib cage and sternum, I thought I was having a heart attack.  I also had many other flu-like symptoms.  Now I am just itching.  I wouldn't wish this on anybody, so take care when using "harmless" meds!

I am lying in bed feeling itchy all over.
My mother & I both have been having this experience for the past
2 days. We have been eatting refried beans so have been injesting Beano
to prevent gas. We thought we were having flea or bug issues until we figured out we have this feeling shortly after taking the beano. I have now read we are not the only ones having this reaction.

Yes Beano works,you take it rite before a meal and  there is NO gas
but later there is the most painfull gas bubbles and then flatulence for days

I am at work and all I do is pass gas and burp. I may just be fired because of this. It is horrible, I need help

Horrible!  Took beano while I was on antibiotics.  Duh!  Beano is a bacteria, so the antibiotics will kill the beano.  Within 30 minutes, I had horrible flu-like symptoms, especially nausea.  Decided never to take beano with antibiotics again.  I didn't take it again until a few years later, when I took beano with bean soup.  I had stomach upset, flu-like symptoms again, with braxton-hicks type back pain.  I WILL NEVER TAKE BEANO AGAIN!  You can just put up with me belching and farting!

Stomach discomfort and loose stools.  Until I came to this site, I thought I might be getting an ulcer.

diarrhea  some stomach pain

I took 2 tablets of beano prior to having pea soup and a turkey sandwich for lunch.  I experienced mild gas problems later during the afternoon and evening. 
Early next morning about 2 oclock I woke up with a bad case of diarrhea and stomach pain. Tha problem last for hours and I could not sleep.

I have been taking 1-3 beano daily and I have such pain under my rib cage my right side.

I took Beano before eating oatmeal this morning to try to prevent gas. Now I'm praying for gas. My stomach hurts so much. I have diarrhea and feel like I could throw up. I am also lactose intolerant and had similar reactions to Lactaid pills. I can drink Lactaid milk no problem, but the pills made my stomach hurt so bad that I did throw up.

will beano affect my baby if i'm breast feeding?
is it safe to use while breast feeding?

I took Beano for the first time and had a very bad reaction. My stomach hurt, with cramping and waves of pain that went down through my lower abdomen. I had watery diarrhea and headache. My joints particularly my hips, knees & neck ached. Took anti-diarrheal pills to stop the diarrhea but the stomach pain, headache & joint aches continued. Never have experience anything like this before even though I am severly lactose intolerant. My family ate the same meal (with Beano) & had no problems what so ever.
