Benefiber

After taking one half tsp. of Benefiber in 80z of water. I began having anaphylaxix symptoms, my throat started to swell and chest tightened. I stated Bendadry 2 tablets every 4 hours. The next morning after breakfast the symptoms stared to reoccur. I started the Bendadry again to counteract the reaction. It is now 36 hours and still experiencing the side effects.
I read that the ingredient in this is wheat starch processed with acid. I strongly believe because of my severe reaction and others', this product needs to taken off the market.
Please warn others as I will do.

I have been taking benefiber for just over a week..suddenly my legs have
delveloped a rash of sorts-just on the backsides-not pimples, but a red, flat rash.
itches a little. I put calamine lotion on The product seems to help me in the bathroom, but I am wondering if the rash will spread to other parts of my body.

I am getting so thirsty. Can Benefiber cause severe thirst? My lab work is all good.

significant gas and a continuing itchy rach all over my back

The first 2 weeks on Benefiber I took only 1 dose per day instead of the 3 doses rec. on the package. It worked really well. After that it seemed to decrease in positive effect so I gradually upped the dose to the rec. 3x/day. Now not only does it not work as well, but I am constantly bloated. I won't exceed the dosage but I'm not sure if I should stop completely or not. Soluble fiber is supposed to be good for you. I can't link the excess gas to any other changes in my lifestyle. This is the same bloating that I get when my IBS kicks in. Wish BF had been the answer!

Have been havibg headaches.  Could this be the cause?

My daughter suffered with severe constipation from age 3 and was misdiagnosed with all kinds of things, the lastest irritable bowel with constipation. She also has exercise induced asthma.By chance at age 17 someone suggested she give up gluten in her diet. The constipation went away, she felt wonderful. Her asthma was much less severe. She will be 19 this summer and still gluten free and feeling great. Don't let her suffer. Have her tested BEFORE you try giving up gluten as she has to have it in her system to get a proper diagnosis. If she gives it up first and feels better it is incredibly painful to go back on it for testing.

That's because you're not drinking enough water. Increasing your intake of fiber should be done slowly to avoid abdominal discomfort and cramps. When increasing fiber in your diet it is very important to drink PLENTY of water so you do not get constipated or anything of that nature. Hope this helps

My mouth seemed to get dryer then it was after taking benefiber. 

ok so this is my third day using benefiber. it helped me go to the bathroom once. but ive been using it 3 times a day 2 tsp in my drinks. and now it wont seem to work. i put it on everything and i still only go number 2 like i did with low fiber in my diet. when i had low fiber i only went number 2 most 3 times a week, and the stool was very dry and big. i ate benefiber with milk one night..then the next morning after eating cereal with benefiber in it.. i went number 2. it was easy to pass cause of the moisture from fiber. but it seemed to only work once. i put a lot everytime i eat, i dont know why its not working now. havent went number 2 since the first time i used it though. hopefully the stool will be easy to pass since im using benefiber. and also i put it on a mcdonalds burger.. and it turned into plastic! i dont know what happend! its not suppose to do that. and then i put it in an iced mocha frappe from mcdonalds and it got a little lumpy.

My daughter is 5 and has bowel blockage and constipation from 18 months old. She is on Retoralax 17mg / day for the past 5 months and at this point it is undetermined for how much longer she will need to stay on. Its safe and gentle for her case and I am quite happy with the result. She has had no side effects and this is apparently the most recommended medication from the gastroentorology surgery department at the children's hospital here. Try discussing this option with her doctor.

I had bad abdominal cramp and severe constipation after taking Benefiber. Ended up visting the local First Care. Suffered for 5 days. 

MY WEE GRANDAUGHTER IS 3 YEARS OLD SOMEONE TOLD US TO TRY BENEFIBER .SHE HAS REALLY BAD CHRONIC CONSTIPATION IS THIS OK FOR HER TO TAKE

I had a Liver Tansplant six yrs. ago and with the prednison that I've had to take of six yrs.  I've developed a lower G.I. prolem and that Dr. suggest taking benefiber before two of my biggest dinners especially since I lost my weight ,going from 129 down to 108.  The poblem that I'm having is it seems to be sticking to my false teeth  and in my mouth because I have at bad alergy and runny noe all summer.  So right now I'm Going to Try something else!!!

My experience with Benefiber has been excellent.  I suffer with IBS and on a good week I normally go once or twice per week. Since using benefiber I go at least twice per day now. Simply Remarkable!

why are you not supposed to take benefiber with blood pressure medication (benicar)

I have a very bad taste in my mouth and my mouth feels sticky.

Benefiber is execellant for the digestion but It runs up my blood pressure

took Benefiber this morning with orange juice. It was a bottle that I had for about six months. Since taking it I have had a very bitter taste in my mouth.

Is there any interaction when taking Warfarin and Benefiber? Thank you.

I had hives and rash with itching and had to seek medical help to counteract with medication. Whats in the benefiber that cause that? >:o
