Benzonatate

i had bronchitis and was given tesalon pearls they worked great, but a week after the medicine was gone i began coughing again, so i took some old tesalon pearls i found . i just want to know how safe are the old ones.

I was prescribed benzonatate for cough and after taking it for 1 day became ill. I experienced the most severe nausea and retching without being able to vomit. The retching was so severe I had pain all around my chest area and was quite dizzy. In addition, I experienced confusion about where I was and names of places.

I stopped taking them and recovered slowly over the next 2 days. Given the seriousness of reactions to this product I am surprised it is still on the market.

55 year old male after taking the drug I have a hard time stay awake and makes me start dreaming as soon as my eyes close. But It controles my cough.

Last week, my doctor prescribed Benzonatate, along with prednisone and azithromycin for treating my virus-flu condition last week. I have asthma. I had been coughing some but, as soon as I took the first capsule of benzonatate, I began coughing from deep down in my chest. I continued the drug for the next three days and then discontinued it because of the cough. Since it was to be something to help my cough, I knew it wasn't doing it. Five days later I was getting better and only coughing a bit and I thought I'd try one more capsule, to see if it would react differently. It didn't! I was coughing constantly - within less than 30 minutes. The cough has been hard enough that I had to sit in a chair to sleep as laying down made it worse. Lesson learned - I will have my files at the clinic tagged with an allergy for this drug.
