I went into pre-term labor…
I went into pre-term labor at 32 weeks. I was given terbutaline in the hospital and then sent home with a perscription to take 1 Brethine pill (cant remember dose) every 2 hours. I went into labor a few more times and was given terbutaline injections again. The last time I got the injection was 3 hours before I was "approved" to give birth and I refused the injection but was still given it.
My son is now 8 years old and has Aspergers. It has taken years of mis-diagnosies and many therapists and doctors to come to some sort of answer to the array of learning and social difficulties my son deals with.
If I had been told of the possible side effects to my son, I would have told the doctors to give me the steroids for his lungs and let him be born a little early. As it was he was born 6lb11oz 4 wks early. Good apgar score and only 3oz lighter than my full term second child. I wonder what possibilities he could have had if I had known.
