  • I had Bupivacain added to…

I had Bupivacain added to my pump about 4 weeks ago. I had a severe burning sensation in my ow back, groin, legs, and feet. Today I had tremors once. My doctor blew off my symptoms when I went in three weeks after the change. I have been trying to find a new doctor which isn't an easy task when you have a pump. I guess on the bright side my reporting the side effects and him totally dismissing them my family would be financially taken care of if something happens. I'm not a sue happy person but when a doctor dismisses side effects with no research...I'll go there!!!

  • While undergoing a trial…

While undergoing a trial for an intrathecal pain pump (in my spine) my doctor added bupivacaine to the fentanyl medication. I wasn't even informed that the medication was added. Within minutes I began having excruciating, burning pain in my groin, sciatic nerve and down my legs. The pain was like nothing I had ever experienced before. My feet started to burn, my legs felt like they were on fire, it was awful! I notified my infusion nurse and doctor. Instead of deducing that the medication was causing the pain, they increased my hourly med rate (thus increasing the amount of bupivacaine). The pain increased to an unbearable amount and I begged my doctor for an xray to see if if the catheter was on a nerve, still unaware that it was the medicine. My doctor refused. Finally they had me shut off my pump and within an hour the pain had lowered tremendously. They removed the bupivicaine from my drip, but only after I suffered with it for over 5 days. Ultimately they had to remove the pain pump because I now have non-stop sciatic leg pain that never lets up. I pray every morning that this sciatic and leg pain begin to diminish to pre-pump levels. I am terrified that the bupivicaine has created permanent damage. Like the gentleman above, I only found out side effects on the internet. My doctor has never agreed that it was the medicine or the pump.

  • My wife has a morphine implant…

My wife has a morphine implant pump, the first of the year the dosage was changed from just morphine to a cocktail of morphine , clonidine and bupivacaine. Within two weeks the following conditions developed. Paresthesia (burning feet), tremors, seziures and paralysis and weakness of the legs. I discovered the side effects on the internet, not with the doctors help.
