am taking caltrate since 4 years ....now am taking 2 tblt a day wich is 1200 now having cramps in my stomach,bloating....

I have been taking caltrate for the past 10 years (I'm 95 years old) with no adverse side effects. This past week I was told by my primary care physician to stop taking it because she had read where it was causing heart problems. She told me to start taking Vitamin D3 1000 IU's daily. I have called Caltrate directly and cannot get any information out of them. I do not want to stop taking Caltrate, but will if there is a danger. Please help.

Severe stomach cramps.

Gasses and abdominal pain

Bloating, muscle pain and spasms, legs swelling and becoming hard with the swelling, upset stomach and belching, constipation.

Started taking Caltrate 600+D Chewables and had several reactions. 1. Felt like the saliva in my mouth was foaming after approx 30 minutes of chewing the tablet. 2. Unusual pain in my left knee joint. This happened for several days while I took the tablets and has stopped now that I stopped taking the tablets. 3. A feeling of being swollen in neck and face. I stopped taking this product and all systems have gone away. Just FYI

since taking caltrate my hands swell and the joints ache. This occured in my daughter as well
