Carbatrol

I believe Carbatrol after 10 years of use has damaged my hearing.
Had tininus ever since being on it and age related hearing loss has come on rapidly.
I'm 56 yrs only.

My son is 32 yrs old and has been treated with Carbatrol for over 10 years, he is taking 1200 mg/day and recently has experienced epileptic / seizure episodes every 2 months. After observing his daily life habits and diet, we think it is related to food.  Any one experienced similar cases after eating such food containing :  garlic , melted cheese, or else ?
The symtoms are always the following :
- feeling dizzy , stomach upset , nausea , flashes.
This is usually followed by convulsions, excess saliva, lack of response for a maximum of 5 mn. eyes are frozen in a stare
Then convulsions stop , eventually awareness comes back with headache, still nausea and need to sleep.
These incident always occur after a meal  or eating .
Is there a definite connection with food ? if so what kind of food are likely to cause it ? or is it due to accumulation of other factors ?

Carbatrol caused a complete depletion of estrogen in my body- forcing me to go through major fertility treatments.  I didn't realize the carbatrol was the source of my infertility issues until I later switched to Lamictal
