  • Sometime few days before…

Sometime few days before Feb 22,2010 I bought  Sugar Free Maximum Numbing Cepacol Cherry flavored from Walgreens. Before buying I inspected if it was sealed properly and read about side effects. The reason I was particular about Side effects was because I am High Blood pressure and Heart Patient. One time I had Angoplasty. As I read Warning sign I found that I should not be taking  the Cepacol if I have allergy to anesthetics but it never provided Warning for Tightness of Chest or Difficulty in Breathing  .

Normally I would take one of these Lozenges in the morning and another in the evening. The interval between two would be 12 hours.  I think I took only 6 of these Lozenges over 3 day period. One night as I went to bed around 10PM I took one of these Lozenges or the 6th lozenge. After few hours of intake I felt around 1AM shortness of Breath and Tightness of Chest. I asked to myself why it happened to me suddenly today when I weas in perfect health. Earlier during day time I had jogged 5 miles too. Then I asked to myself what did I do differently. The answer to my question was quite simple which is I had taken Cepacol earlier. So I went to Internet did research on the side effects of Cepacol Maximum Strength Lozenges. Copy of my research conducted by Drugs.com is attached herewith for your perusal. I called my doctor in India he said it looks like it is the side effect of Cepacol but should wear out in several hours. He further said if it does not wear out then only I must go to Emergency. So I waited few hours and most of the adverse effect had vanished and as such there was no need to go emergency , however I still feel reoccrence of these symptoms about 10 to 15% of time. I am glad I did not another take Lozenges after 2 hours as directed by you. Had I done that my oxygen supply would have been cut off and you imagine what would that mean to my life. It could have been fatal. Should you want doctor’s note then I can request one.
