Citalopram

While seeing a psycho-therapist, I started to see the light as to how to become less incumbered by my emotions (especially the unhappy/unpleasant ones).  I was still having problems keeping an "even keel", so I asked for a reccomendation for an anti-depressant pill.  After presenting the reccomendations to my PCP, and a good long chat with him, the decision for me to try Citalopram was made.  Any doctors worth his/her salt will tell you that you may have to try a few different medications to find the one that fits your needs, but both of my doc's took a great amount of time to talk to me and find the right one...on the first try even!  It works great for me.  I am rarely ever anxious, uptight, moody, or down anymore.  I have come a long way with psycho-analysis alone, but Citalopram (low dose) gives me the stability and edge to make every day as good as I can make it.  No side effects.  I think it may have healped me quit smoking too and that is where the weight gain came into play, but I'd rather be puffy & happy than skinny and miserable.  I'm working on the "puff" next.

Yesterday was my first day....I did sleep better....and felt better right away...but I did hear things this morning and saw things that were not there....Can I stay on it for a month and get off of it.....just to take the edge off of my depression?  Will I gain weight?

13 days and all is well....
slight stomach discomfort, but feeling so much better

I started taking Citalopram 20mg 11 days ago and I was so sleepy for the first few days but now the drowsiness has passed AND I feel much better already.  I had slight ringing in my ears which has now gone and occasionally feel light headed but not enough to cause me any major problems. I haven't been out for almost 4 weeks at all but for the past 3 days, I actually felt like going for a drive and took the dog for a walk.  My anxiety about taking this medication is gone because I am starting to feel like my old self and that is after less than 2 weeks of taking the medication.

1st day was hell, had about every side effect in the book.
2nd day was better, side effects decreased greatly
5th day is going well so far- feeling a little "edgy & apprehensive" but better than the alternative

and i only took one 20mg tablet.. NEVER AGAIN!!! feel like iam going deaf

citalopram is making my ears ring bad. like sound feedback aswell fell like iam going mad

loud ringing in my ears and fatigue also increased anxiety, clenching my teeth....

been on citalopram 40 mg four years.  Side effects, 20 lb weight gain, dry mouth.  Needed to increase from 20 to 40 mg to be effective.  Wouldn't recommend to anyone as it is hard to get off this medication. 

I have been on anti depressants for about34years. Last 30ish on citalprolam not sure i'experienced any side effects!

hallucinated for three days and that was on the minimal dose. along with that i had nausea and headaches that almost felt as if my head would explode. Luckily my doc took it seriously and changed my meds to mirtazapine. No side effects at all..

throwing up all day...

i was terribly ill with vertigo, violent palpitation's, nausea, insomnia, hallucination's, and breathing problems. All that from 1 tablet of the smallest dose.
