  • I took ONE dose-----my head,…

I took ONE dose-----my head, face and ears itched. My face became all blotchy and swelled up. The skin on my forehead and cheeks started to peel, as if I had a sunburn. $40 I spent to take one pill----which was nothing but POISON. Don't use concerta!

  • I had been taking concerta…

I had been taking concerta regularly for seven months up until two weeks ago.  I loved the outcome usually and was always very focused while on it, the only negative things were how often my legs fell asleep and the intense mood swings when i wasn't on it. Then, one night after not having slept the night before, I took a 36 mg at 530 p.m... since it speeds up your heart, it seemed as though I was getting exhausted quickly. I had made plans for a birthday late that night and took another 36 mg at midnight.  I was up all night and had school early in the morning and then had work directly after it so I proceeded to ignorantly take another 36mg at 7am. Stating the obvious, at this point I had taken 108 mg within close to 14 hrs. At noon i got off and went to bed and woke up with hives on the backs of my legs, on my toes, ankles, arms, and fingers. They tend to not bother me for hours and then suddenly itch horrendously for hours out of the blue and it has been almost two weeks. Am i in danger? does anyone know if this will go away on it's own if i continue not taking it?.

  • my child started concerta…

my child started concerta 3 days ago. he doesnt sleep, eat, and last night he threw up all night. he's been  very aggressive and grumpy. I am glad i found this post. he WILL NOT take another one!!!

  • last week my son , aged 13,…

last week my son , aged 13, attempted suicide. He had been on concerta for one month.... laughable to see doctors scurry around looking for other reasons as to why this happened . They suggested he stop concerta but of course it's not the fault of the medication! the only thing that changed in my son's life was that he started taking this drug and had never prior to this expressed suicidal thoughts. My advice to any parent would be to avoid this drug for your child at all costs. ... I'm lucky to still have my child.

  • My Seven year old son has…

My Seven year old son has been on concerta for almost a month. I have noticed him being more emotional than ever, tonight he cried for 30 minutes because he didnt want to go to bed. His excuse was that "he had really bad dreams" My concern is that he is having hallucinations. How do I differentiate his "nightmares" to hallucinations? Should I take him off this medication?

  • i accedently mixed concerta…

i accedently mixed concerta with asprin and i feel seriously messed up. is it somthing to do with the asprin or is it unrelated? please help

  • My sister wants to take Concerta…

My sister wants to take Concerta during her exams, she doesn't have ADD or ADHD, but her friends are taking it and say that it's helped them to concentrate more.  Is it a good idea to take it if there's no medical reason to?

  • My son has recently been…

My son has recently been diagnosed with ADHD after a rather skeptical Conners Scale review, and his pediatrician now recommends Concerta. I am horrified by the side effects of this medication and even more suspicious of the arbitrary manner in which this diagnosis was reached. I can't imagine that a drug with such debilitating side effects can be routinely prescribed without a more detailed analysis of the issues confronting the child such as diet, etc.

My wife and I desperately seek help as we are not inclined to give our 9-yr old son this medicine and risk his mental and physical weel-being for the mere convenience of his teacher and the improvement of a 3rd grade report card.

  • I just started taking Concerta…

I just started taking Concerta (36 mg) and I immediately developed shingles. My doctor swears it's a coincidence, but after seeing your post I can't help but wonder. I had chicken pox as a child, but I've never had shingles before now. What happened in your case? I went to the doctor today and got neurontin and valtrex, but the doctor told me to keep taking the Concerta. I don't know what to do.
