    I started taking generic cytomel a few weeks ago and experienced tachycardia (rapid heart beat) after 3 days. Switched to name brand Cytomel and have developed a rash and hot, red ears after several weeks. Also have occasional heart palpitations.

    I was just switched to cytomel for 3 weeks in prep of a scan for thyroid cancer. In 3 wks I'll stop the medication - for another 3 wks (and then I'll have the scan). I'm following the 'old' procedure due to lack of thyrogen in Quebec, Canada.
    I switched to cytomel last Monday and I'm now having a lot of pain, especailly in my lower back and joints, and a headache when I wake up in the morning. Are these common side effects of cytomel?
