Igot a head ach within half an hour of taking the drug and my Doctor still wants me to take it for Sciatic pain

I was prescribed Endep 10 mg for my insomnia & while it worked, the daytime drowsiness was just too much for me personally. It took more than 3 days for the dosage to wear off & for another 3 nights after that I continued to sleep well. So it had a strong residual effect. Next I tried a quarter tablet [2.5 mg] but the side effects were still intolerable so I discontinued use. Now, months later, I am experimenting with one eighth tablets [that's right 1.25 mg] and it makes me sleep well. However, after taking this micro dose for 3 nights I begin to feel drowsy during the day so I stop. I'm thinking of taking the dosage on wednesday & thursday nights so I'm good for the weekend. Well that's my experience with endep. I suppose I'm peculiarly sensitive to it. The only doubt I have about continuing to use endep is a slight arrhythmia I noticed one day. I smoke, so that most probably had something to do with it. Perhaps it doesn't interact too well with nicotine. So to sum it all up, I'd say endep definitely helps with insomnia. But it's a powerful drug so be mindful of the side effects.

Well I  have just read the other comments submitted should have done that before , well I will definatelely be telling my GP that I do not need anti depressant medication  I didnt think they were,as the GP didnt explain the medication that well ,my GP told me they were for pain and to sleep, and that would help me be relaxed ...I did not know they were antidepressant tablets ,as the Dr told me that she would start me on a low does to start with.....  I was  on antidepresant tablets way back 25 years ago . I DONT NEED THEM NOW ...I am a 68year old woman had a lot of problems in my life but got over them , I took myself of them, which was hard cried a hell of  lot ,as I got so depressed with antidepressant  tablets . I didn,t need medication to fix my problem I needed my head to get me back to normal and to face the problems that coursed my problems . And I did it... I was perscribed antidepessant medication  25 years ago , I feel that these Doctors today don,t give a S...t to what your problems in health are  ...  the Doctors are governed by the pharmacutical companies ...BIG MONEY FOR THE DOCTORS. I do hope that this gets through to a lot of people I now look up all of the side affects to medicines that the  Doctors subscribe for you to take ... WE ARE AS PEOPLE VERY VUNREBLE .

I have only taken 2 tablets of this drug that was perscribed for me for cronic pain and restless legs and sleep deprived . The first tablet I took I didn,t sleep was very restless all night the next night, took another one , I was worried my heart was pumping so so hard that I thought my husband should have called the ambulance , I have never ever experienced any thing like it  I am a reasonably healthy woman , HATE taking DRUGS. I will be very wary of what the Doctors give me from now on , I do think that a lot of Doctors are involved with the pharmasutical  side of the aquasion . Too easy for them .....Every person is different , I would like to ask a question are Doctors getting a handout ????

I have taken endep 25 for about a year now for insomnia.  It has helped a lot and I don't want to come off it, because I fear the anxiety that comes from having no sleep.  I do experience dull moods though and I am not as vibrant since I've been on it.  I don't know what to do or where to go from here, because it doesn't seem normal to stay on this medication forever...?

I was prescribed endep 25 by a professor for jaw pain in 2005. The pain was servere as a result of grinding my teeth at night while asleep. Had no control over it and my jaw flaired up around my joints which led to really bad headaches in the middle of the day. It was stress of course, but one thing seems to lead to another. Valium worked well to relax my jaw, but my dentist was against it long term. Head ache tabs with codine worked for pain, but not for long and the doses increased. By the time I was prescribed endep, i was willing to try anything.

I found the side affects during the first 5-7 days interesting. I slept more than i had in years. 10 hours a day. waking up drowsey, which a coffee fixed and the dry mouth that was a pain. My jaw was great. I guess i wasnt grinding the night away. the swelling went down in the joints and the headaches soon followed.
After about 5-7 days the long sleeps came back to the normal 7. I was still a bit drowsy when I woke, but got used to it and bought a expresso machine.
The dry mouth also gets better, but this takes longer. I guess the sliver ajusts after time. After 6 months i just stopped taking it. I was told to be careful when you suddenly stop and try to ween of them. I had no such problems. 2 years later, my jaw and headaches started to play up again, so i went back on the for 2 months and then just stopped. all good. They wont suit everbody, but i would advise giving them at least a week before you make your mind up. For what i needed them for, they worked and well. The dry mouth is a pain, but it does get better. I took one 25 at night an hour before sleep.

Dry mouth (i'm always thirsty), increased hunger, flat and aggression.
The only plus, is it helps me sleep. 
I'm looking for something better.

Took endep 10mg for 5 days have not felt the same since i feel brain dead no longer the person i was hoping it will wear off

I got fat, carried fluid my bones felt like they had something that 100years old would have i couldnt sleep i got more and more depressed, i felt generaly unwell, anxiety, i wasnt myself ( abnormal behaviour) agressive, agitated all the time, yes i had the dry mouth which caused me to loose all my teeth, nightmares, plenty of sleep disorders, you name it and i had it all the way from no sleep at all for 6-7 nights in a row to sleeping for a 24 hour straight period, and sleeping for 20mins at a time only to have to wait another 2 hours to get back to sleep for only another 20mins again, strees all the time, paranoia at times, moodyness most of the time dry eyes sort of, it was like they where saw from being dry but didnt seem to dry enough to cause the pain i was getting even though they wernt as wet as they should have been, fatigue all the time, i had i want to do anything or go any where no matter how people tried to get me out and about, it just wasnt going to happen, heavy legs at times, i got so sick and tired of being sick and tired that i finaly looked on the net and found out what my problems was from. The very drug that was to be helping was just making it worse, so i got some other stuff to help me sleep and stopped taking endep and within two weeks i had energy, lost wieght without trying, had no more fluid in my feet, i was happy all the time and keen to go out and have a life. I feel a million dollars, and would suggest to every one that reads this to go to thier doctor and bring a copy of this web page with you and talk about other ways of help, coz unfortunatly alot of drugs that are form the same problems caurse the same side affects, PLEASE go see your doctor again. Drs and Big Pharma must be making a killing with this stuff. Antidepressants are handed out like sweets, for everything from headaches to menopause! They are not the cure-all that they're made out to be. These things have way too many dangerous side effects that are played down by the medical 'profession' who get kick-backs for pushing this drug onto an unsuspecting public. Drs are not gods. We pay a fortune for their lavish lifestyles. It is important that we do our own independent research before blindly accepting the latest fad drug.

Prescribed for joint and muscle pain, and insomnia.  Took a half of a 25mg tablet.  Didnt help with falling aleep, but once I did, I slept right thru.  Next day, I was a zombie.  thick foggy head, dry mouth and sore throat, and my lips had pins and needles sensation all day.  Felt sick too.  Im never taking them again.

I was prescribed Endep 25mg for depression & Insomnia & found they have worked well, especially with Insomnia. Having a good night sleep helped to deal with depression a bit less stressful. How-ever, I did find out the hard way that alcohol & Endep do not mix well. I found this out after only 4 glasses of Red Wine! My last memory was early in the evening (6.30. p.m.) & as my boy-friend at time was at work, I would have an early night. I was terribly distressed to find when I woke, at 2 a.m., that I was in a little white room that I was not familiar with. A cell at the city watch-house! I have no recollection of leaving my house at all, let alone going to my local pub & being asked to leave, which has never happened to me before. Apparently I was unlucky that the Police happened to be driving through at time & picked me up on their way through, but probably fortunate that they did as I may have driven my car! The police would not let me ring my Psychologist even though I had made no call to any-one else! I was very confused! It took me two months to find out what I had done as I had no recollection at all of the events that caused me to be locked up! Apparently I do weird things that I would never do normally. I have had a few other odd experiences but not as distressing as being locked up! I am a 45 year old mother of 2 girls, now grown up. At the time of this incident I was excitedly awaiting the arrival of my first Grandchild & if given the choice this incident would have never have occurred! How embarrassing! Also quite frightening as I am home alone most nights. I did not live with my boy-friend at the time any-way but our relationship ended the day after! I do, do the odd strange thing now & again, I think I must sleep-walk but not as bad as previous incident. Please be careful mixing these tablets with Alcohol!!! I will never forget, but never remember this incident!

FOR MY HIP AND LEG PAIN. I KEPT AWAKE ALL NIGHT WITH SEVERE LEG PAIN.A PAIN  I NEVER EVER HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE. ENDEP25 IS NOT WORKING FOR ME.

Dry Mouth and feeling sleepy

I am a 62 yr old women and was given 25mg endep at night for Interstitial systitis ,a bladder disorder to reduce urgency and slept for 36 hours straight I became agitated and felt depressed. After recently having had a minor stroke I decided it may be a good idea to stop taking it. Other drugs taken at the time were OGEN,PRAVACHOL,ASPRIN AND ELMORON

good. it help me relax. it help me sleep.which help my body to recoup.

After my dad died my mum was prescribed this medication to help her sleep.
We were not advised of this, even though it has such terrible side effects and the doctor did not insist she follow up in a week or so do see how she was progressing on this poison! She is 77yrs old. This medication is dangerous and not to be taken lightly. She became lethargic, shakey, forgetful, dry mouth and after a short time was quite unresponsive, just sitting quietly and not moving, other times aggressive. Thankfully we recognised this behaviour as totally out of character and had a look at what medications she was on. She normally only took a blood pressure tablet that she had been on for some time. So we were able to stop this medication quite soon after she started it, 6-8weeks and promptly threw it all away. She should never have been give this medications she simply needed time to grieve, which was delayed because of the effects of endep 25. Chamomile Tea and Rescue Remedy are far safer remedies for stress, tiredness, grief and many other health problems. If medication that has extreme side effects is prescribed then it should be closely monitored by the doctor, care givers and/or family.

I have taken Endep 25 since 2002....unhappy,aggression,dry mout. So I asked my doctor and so never answer from my doctor. I gave up to take Endep last December 2009. Now I'm feeling better without aggresion.
