Erythromycin

i had two sets of penicillin for my tonsilitis and it didnt clear so i have been put on erythromycin and i am too getting chest pains and abdominal pains and nausea... how long was your course and did your tonsilitis clear?

I took only two erythromycin tablets. I was in agony, violently sick, chest pains heart palpitations, sweating. Was taken to hospital but after waiting for over two hours the pain subsided so I went back home. Was Ill for over a month running to the toilet. ( undigested food) One year later I had a brain aneurism, even though I am making a good recovery. The erythromycin felt worse. I am now too afraid to take any pills.

Could you please suggest me the remeady for this unbearing pain in abdoman after taking the Erithromycin.

I was also prescribed Erythromycin from a Walk-in Clinic. They originally prescribed me Flucloxacillin but after taking it for two and a half days I was forced to go back. I spent an entire day vomiting, I was dizzy, light headed and had awful diarrhoea. The doctor at the clinic changed me to Erythromycin but didn't warn me in anyway about the side effects I would experience. I again had diarrhoea, my eating patterns changed drastically. I would get extremely hungry at lunch time but that would be all I ate for the day. My sleep pattern changed drastically too, I found it very difficult to sleep despite being tired and would sit awake until 7am before finally falling asleep. But the biggest side effect I experienced was depression. I came home from university once I started on Erythromycin and almost immediately became depressed. I didn't want to leave the house, I cried and cried regularly for no reason which is very unlike me. I didn't even think about it being a side effect until my mother mentioned to work colleagues I was feeling low and 3 of them said how depressed they'd been whilst on antibiotics. I think doctors need to acknowledge this as a very real side effect and warn people about it when they prescribe it

can taking Erythromycin cause itchy feeling?

I have severe hiccups (hiccoughs) from Erythromycin.  I had never gotten hiccups from an antibiotic before.  I am considering checking into the ER at a local hospital.  I don't know if I can trust the Walk-in Clinic that prescribed this drug any more.

we gave this to our 8 month baby and she cried all night, like when she had colic.

I had stomach pain, diarrhoea and nausea for the first few days.  Now I take these pills in the middle of a good size meal, and then eat yoghurt.  The stomach seems to have settled.  Have dizzyness, tiredness and some breathlessness, but otherwise ok!

I have had terrible crushing type pain between my ribs (upper abdo) just near the sternum.... and feel like I  need to be sick, but nothing comes up..... the pain is unbearable.  Doctors told me that it was gastritis, but this is the second time this has happened after taking Erythromycin....  horrible..

I have had chest pain. arm pain thoughts of death nightmare.stomach pain running back and forth to toliet...Keeping me awake .Just very very unreal feeling.I wouldnt recomend anyone taking this Tablet...

I have been on this for 4 days now and am feeling worse that i was before i went to the doctor, i called the doc but they dont agree that what i am experienceing has anything do do with the the pills.  I am sure they are i have had stomach pain and chest pain, have been running to the loo and had really terrible wind am so bloated i feel awful.  i also have a rash down one side of my face and to top it off i have trush.  apart from that my chest infection is on the mend

ive just started taking this yesterday for tonsilitus and within hours had a bad stomache that just got worse. ive not slept all night due to stomache and chest pains and nasea. i rang nhs and they said take paracetamol for the pain then take my morning dose and see how i am and if its still there to contact my doctor. ive just taken my morning dose and dreding the pains coming back. the tonsilitus wasnt even that bad but penicillin wasnt enough to get rid of it.

After taking this drug I suffered abdominal pain with diarrhea after eating even small amounts, pain developed with the urge to get to a toilet at once.  I had a full blood and liver test and a stool test and all was normal.  If I am going out I have to rely on Loperamide tablets, two the night before and one in the morning. This has now been going on for three months, how can I get permanent relief.

Erythromycin is scary!! I had upper abdominal pain within an hour of takin git which brought me to my knees, also waves of nausea.  Its a no no for me.

Hello. This medicine gave me serious side effects. I have enormous chest pain and upper section of stomach.... The doctor told that it's unlikely to be erythromycin fault but I know it is...I couldn't sleep all night because of the pain.... ;(
