  • Yes!!! Both of my knees…

Yes!!! Both of my knees were/are shot from Rheumatoid Arthritis. My
right being worse then the left. But after the horribly painful 2nd and 3rd
shot on my left knee the pain in that one was so horrible I had to move
forward and have a total knee replacement before the right one, which HAD been
    the worse knee.
The shots were only an attempt to put off the knee replacements. I now
know that its better to face the inevitable and get the knee replacement done
    and over with.
I had a fantastic doctor, team, and hospital and my new knee is awesome.
I will now in a few months go on to have the right knee done.
That Euflexxa is a demon drug seriously. I had all the worse side effects
and then some including the hot flashes with sweat pouring off me starting
exactly 24 hrs after the initial shot, diarrhea, terrible stomach cramps,
weakness, dizziness, dehydration, headache, and the pain in my left knee
was enough I wanted to CUT IT OFF seriously. Then went on to have the 3rd
shot in the left knee and oh lord it was so painful I was screaming my head
    off.
The right knee was a bit painful during the shots, but not anymore then a
normal steroid shot would be. Do NOT understand why the left knee went so
    bad ;/
Good luck to you, and just go ahead and start getting the knees replaced,
its a life saver. If you are in California I have a spectacular doctor at
    the UCSD in La Jolla.

  • My1st injection was OK! The…

My1st injection was OK! The 2nd one hurt like H***, the 3rd hurt but not as bad as the 2nd one. After 2 days I started having pain in my leg and muscle cramps down my calf. I'ts been almost 2 weeks now and I'm still in pain. If I had known that I was going to be in this much pain I would have opted for a knee replacement. Not sure what can be done about it now....
Has anyone had pain in the back of the knee and muscle cramp/spams down the back of the leg?

  • Yes, I had the serious side…

Yes, I had the serious side effects such as you did. If you look on their
website I believe that is how my doctor figured out that was what was
going on with me 24 hrs later. I was casebook side effects. Which the
manufacturer say are the more serious, but I think they are more normal after a
    lot of reading.
Basically I dont think its worth it, just like a shot of steroids to put
off knee surgery, but I rather have the steroid shot in the knee. Less side
effects, and then the issue of the horrible pain in the one knee after the
    2nd, and 3rd shots.

  • After my first injection…

After my first injection on Friday three weeks ago I experienced numbness and weakness Sunday night after injection along with a fever and night sweats. Went back to doctor on Tuesday and had an ultrasound to see if blockages or blood clots everything was negative. Doctor couldn't explain my symptoms. Symptoms went away slowly by Friday for my next injection. My second injection was okay no fevers or numbness. Now I had my last injection last Friday and so far no symptoms but muscle spasms in the injection site. Has anyone experienced tiredness hours after receiving this shot, weakness, muscle spasms or numbness?

  • Yes, exactly what happened…

Yes, exactly what happened to me with shot number 2 and 3 in my left leg.
It hurt so horrible being given the shot and never stopped unless I was
taking at least oxycotin and then oxycodone for break thru pain. Finally, I
was able to get knee surgery done and now today the pain is gone. I am
almost 2 months out from knee replacement surgery, my first one, and it is
    AWESOME!!
In my opinion do NOT get those shots. If they do work for you fine, but
its just a bit of a fix to avoid what is ultimately the best way to go, Knee
replacement. Like steroid shots in the knee and those do not cause the
horrible months long pain that I experienced with this Euflexxa.
Also, best surgeons for knee replacements, UCSD La Jolla Hospital Ortho,
but if you live elsewhere, I live 100 miles from there, then be sure to
research your doctor! I researched mine and knew the best were to be found in
this area at UCSD. He does hips and knees.

  • After receiving the first…

After receiving the first injection for my knee (after a month) continue having severe right leg pain, so bad that I felt that I am going to pass out. I am in content pain and at night the level of pain is a 10+.

During the day I get a little comfortable if I continue to walk, but as soon as I get in the car or lay in bed it is a 10 on a pain scale.

Has anyone experience these symptoms? For a month now I am not able to bend my leg with out having allot of pain. Yes Blood clot has been ruled out by a vascular doctor.

    Despretly need some answers.

    Ana

  • It has been four weeks now,…

It has been four weeks now, after I received the second injection started having lower leg cramps at night. Thinking okay probably not related, and waiting to pass. I proceeded even though I was wondering, if it could be to the shot. Received the third shot about two weeks now.

Let me tell you the severity of my lower (R) legs cramps is so severe that I can't barely walk and lots of sleepless nights.

Has anyone experience this and what have you done for the pain.

Now I am taking a very strong anti-inflammatory and it is not helping.

  • Headache, generalized muscle…

Headache, generalized muscle pain, especially in shoulders the day after first injection.

  • It is over a year since I…

It is over a year since I had my left knee injection. My legs are still sensitive and my ankles on both legs stiff. How long the side effects last is beyond me.

I had knee surgery to clean it up but it is still stiff.

  • I received three injections…

I received three injections in my left knee. The doc drained my knee prior to injection one, and it was extremely painful with each step afterwards. This cleared up after two days, then back to things as they were. The knee was drained again prior to injection three. It has been three weeks and although I still have some minor discomfort, I can walk normally and can use the stairs again. Overall, it was worth the discomfort to get where I am.

  • That was one of the effects…

That was one of the effects I had also which made me very ill. I could
not stop pee'ing. The whole ordeal with these shots has been a disaster and
I still need new knees because the shots made them so bad. She evidently
put one of the shots thru vibrous tissue so that when I started walking on
it after the day(this particular shot had made me vomit it hurt so bad and
did and still does)it continued to make the whole bigger in the tissue of
the connecting tissue. So surgery here I come by the end of the month.
These shots made her over 4k and made my knees worse. Terrible medication.

  • I was given this medication…

I was given this medication due to a knee injury jogging that caused a cartilage issue.  After the second of the three shots; I started to develop muscle cramps which the doctor told me that I was just over compensating for my knee but after the 3rd shot I was in the ER.  My liver could not filter the chemicals and my ankles swelled up like balloons on both legs.  I had a temp of 104 degrees for three days.  The blood work showed my liver numbers were out of control and the only thing that they could do was keep my on IV fluids and monitor me.  I was in the hospital for five days.  After 15 days my body returned to normal and I was fine and my primary care doctor said it was not related to the shot.   Of course he was covering his behind on this.   The only medication I was on was vitamins and baby aspirin before the shots.  I would stay away from this drug

  • I have 2 bad knees and 7…

I have 2 bad knees and 7 weeks ago I got an injection of Synvisc1 which is 3 injections in one dose.  I could not get out of bed the next day due to the extreme pain it lasted about 5 days and then it slowly got better and now I have no pain at all give it a try don't give up

  • I have has 3 injections in…

I have has 3 injections in my left knee after my 1st injection I started with vague left shoulder pain with certain movements and when I tried to sleep on it but otherwise OK.  The day after my second injection I was sore all over, generalized muscle pain and joint pain my knee also swelled up and ached ( a deep ache) for a good week.  Prior to my 3rd injection the MD had to drain my knee , it has been a week since am still experiencing overall body aches similar to the flu and am very tired.  The knee is actually feeling better with not as much swelling as after injection # 2 although I am doing less because I really feel like crap!  Thanks to all who posted, I was starting to think I was loosing it.

  • Have had 3 shots in each…

Have had 3 shots in each knee now, and nothing, no improvement, but they
    are WORSE. Its excrutiating.

  • intense spinal pain after…

intense spinal pain after each injection.  My knee has more pain than prior to the  injections, previously recovering well from surgery.  Itching.  And increased overall arthritic pain -hands, elbow, knees feet

  • I've gone through 3 rounds…

I've gone through 3 rounds of Euflexxa injections for OA of the knees and finish my injections Friday.  I've been having SEVERE stomach cramping and back aches with this last round and I'm wondering if they're somehow related?  I was close to going to the emergency room last night because of it.  I read on this board how someone else seems to have had similar problems so it is making me wonder, although what's strange is this is the first time it's happened, unless somehow the dosage or formula changed between now and 6 months ago when I got the injections last.

  • I have had all 3 shots in…

I have had all 3 shots in my right knee and now 4 weeks after last shot no
improvement. I am now on 2nd shot of left knee and no improvement, and in
addition the 2nd shot hurt so bad for several days I could not even walk on
my leg. I hope to God that I can try one of the other knee medications
after trying this one to no avail or I have to wait a year or something.
Had to finally get a wheelchair just before Halloween to do the more then
just a walk around the house and front walkway. It sucks :(

  • My knee felt better with…

My knee felt better with the first of three injections.

  • My knee felt better with…

My knee felt better with the first of three injections.

  • after 1st injection developed…

after 1st injection developed high blood pressure and heart murmer for short time. after 2nd injection along with the above also developed headache loss of appitite vomiting .  canceled my 3rd injection !

  • Whew just seems the doctors…

Whew just seems the doctors do not know much on side effects.  When I called my doctor to report "something" the matter with me after a Euflexxa shot in my right knee yesterday they said they had not heard of any side effects.
I had a restless night and then woke up oh about 4am with or course the horrible pain in both knees, headache and my stomach was hurting, like all the way through to my back.  I toughed it out, not having a clue what was going on, and then I started with sweating profusely.  Like no hot flash I have ever had.  I am 50 female and have had alot of hot flashes.  I was soaking wet, and then the diareha started in.
Bright yellow, to the uncontrollable degree, horrible medicine smell, and sweating continuing to pour off me.
So I looked up side effects on the Euflexxa web site and of course they do list any.
Then I found another site that listed a lot more! and then another site that added muscle pain up and down back, weakness.

It is now 9am and I have not had a run to the bathroom in about half hour which is looking good.  I have taken some percocet(my normal pain med for RA and OA) and sipping on coffee my stomach actually is not hurting as bad, and I took all my regular morning meds.  The pain in my back from tail bone to head is still pretty rough.
I am still sweating off and on.  I will update this as the day goes on.

  • Terrible.  I had Synvisc…

Terrible.  I had Synvisc injections immediately after knee surgery over three years ago and the Synvisc worked great.  I am a personal trainer and fitness instructor.  I had no knee pain for over three years and was beginning to experience some minor clicking in my knee and decided to reup my synvisc.  My insurance company would only pay for Euflexa not Synvisc.  On my doctors recommendations I went with Euflexa.  My knee is worse than before the shots, I have severe pain with rotating movements as well as flexion with weight.  I never had this before the injections.  I am so disappointed.  Going to doctor today to find out what happened.  Please do not use this drug if Synvisc worked for you previously.  Not sure what the cause was, but I am basically hurting from the injections.

  • I fell and landed on my left…

I fell and landed on my left knee twisting my leg in the process.  At first my whole leg hurt and I thought it was my hip trauma mainly.  I got an injection of Cortisone into my hip.  I felt good for a couple weeks.  The pain came back.  The Ortho doctor sent me to physical therapy to strengthen my "core".   I did that for about two months.

AFter three months they did an MRI which showed some Orthretic areas, fluid, and Baker's Cyst so I was to exercise my knees.  That made my knees hurt even worse.

The Ortho doctor recommended Euflexxa injection since the regular medications weren't working (Alleve, Advil, etc.). I am a Type II Diabetic so many of them aren't recommended. My Orhto said Euflexxa had no reported side effects. I worried since I am allergic to medications, etc.

A three week injection schedule was set up.  After each injectionmy knee was painful for about four days. The third injection into my knee made me ache from the tip of my toes to my fingers.  I ached.  My feet were so sensitive I could hardly walk.  when I called the docror about it he said he had never heard of side effects.  The fluid would remain in the knee area and not travel.  They said they would contact the drug company representative. No answer.
After the ache went away somewhat an area above my knee and my inside caff area were red and swollen. It's been there for three months now.   i called Euflexxa drug company company and got no answers. They told me to consult with my doctor.

I went to a Sports Medicine guy seeking relief from the muscle pain.  Back to physical therapy to loosen the sore and painful leg muscles.  After two weeks the redness and pain remain.

I went to other Orthos for second opinions but none seemed to have answers. Euflexxa web sight says there is a 8-9% adverse reaction.  Why don't  they know how to fix it?  I may have had some type of immune reaction.  I don't know. I am not a doctor.
