Flucloxacillin

not sure whether its the flucloxacillin or not - been on them for 3 months finished them 2 months ago, was perscribed 4000mg per day (2 tablets 4 times a day) I have severe pain in my arms since finishing the course. Could this be a side effect?

Abscess on back, lump in armpit. Prescribed Flucloxacillin, 500mg 4x daily.
On second day, experienced flu-like symptoms and headache and during the night worsened to a raging headache. Today (day 3) I haven't taken any Flucloxacillin and feeling better.
Will go to quack tomorrow.

upset stomach

hav just started taking flucloxacillin. 3 500mg caps per day. Suspected skin infection. Reason for GP visit?
Severe itchy raised rash on left knee, not improved by 1%hydrocortisone. On third day now,having taken
7 tablets in all so far. Prescription for 7 days (21).

Knee is more painful. Hav heavy painful skull with headache dry mouth and feeling of nausea. Rash is still
hot and itchy, but now looks dry and flaky. Anyone else the same.?

Due to post surgery infection, i have now been on Flucloxacillin for over 2 weeks!. The dosage has been doubled to 500mg causing severe heartburn, nausea and fatigue. Grin and bare it seems the only option i have...any advice for the heartburn would be great as have only tried Rennie which had little effect.

Do you mean over a week or in one sitting? If the latter you will need to seek medical advice ASAP.

i've taken 11 flucloxacillin tabllets what will happen, and 8 paracetemol?

I was on initially placed on Flucox intravenously in hospital and had no problems for three weeks whilst there. One week on Home IV and I started to feel ill, high temps and began to vomit. Back into hospital and by that stage the reactions were extreme. You name it...I had the reactions plus sum. Each time the nurses cam to hook up the IV I would start vomiting within two minutes, I would get the chills and my muscles in my arms and legs would contract. The pain was excutiating! The doctors refused to believe that my symptoms were anything to do with the antibiotic and related it to my illness...I had a rare bone disease so they were treating it a little blindly. I begged, pleaded and cried every time they cam to hook me up and it was only by chance one afternoon that I had a doctor with me when I was hooked up on the IV and he was there to witness it. The muscle spasms had been so severe in my legs that even once I had been taken off the Flocloxacillin it was almost two months before I was actually able to stand and walk properly again. I was eventually put on IV Vancomycin and spent another month in hospital on that and then the following month on Home IV. A little burning sentation but a breeze in comparison to the Fluclox.

Severe diarrohea with post rectal bleeding. Rushed into hospital and had to stay for five days. Diagnosis: suspected infective collitis but the bleeding went on for much longer than they thought it would and all the tests for infection came back negative - it never happened before and the doctors verbally agreed with me that the drug caused this.

i started a 2nd course of this drug yesterday, one week after completing the 1st. during the night and currently experiencing severe nausea with retching, but no vomiting

any ideas?

I'm experiencing the heartburn now, didn't know why I was getting it as it is not stated on the leaflet! Ive also been experiencing the sickly feeling. and lack of motivation or anything, feel spaced out. Ive got 5 more capsules to go through and Im done with this medicine. Until then I'll just have to suffer :( 

i have skin infection last week,i m on flucoxacilin 500mg and peniclin 500mg.
 have my periods due 18th of this month but i have started getting spots from 10 th april does this is normal?

Started taking this  flucloxcillin 4  times a day my throat felt like it was closing up my nose got blocked  thought i  was going to die during the night was gunna go up to A & E 

im 26yrs old and female. been taking flucloxicillin twice a day for an infection on my left leg for 5 days now and ive started to get the severe stomach cramps and the diaorrhea slightly. really dont want to finish the course but i know if i dont the infection will come back.

gonna tell the dr not to give me this antibiotic again. this is the 1st time ive taken this antibiotic. normally get given amoxacillin. think ill stick to that from now on.

you need to stop taking them. Sounds like an allergic reaction. Go back to GP or talk to pharmacist.  Sounds like you need some antihistamine and different antibiotics

have only been on flucloxacillin now for 2 days. i have had a constant " burning" feeling/sensation in my stomach and bowel/intestine area.

i can feel my bowels moving, but nothing actually happens. i have been feeling nauseaous ever since my first tablet. i get hot and cold flushes and often feel faint after my hot flushes.

this is my 4th dose of antibiotics now in the past 2 to 3 months now. and each tablet doctor has prescribed me, has given me these exact side effects.

the constant burning in my bowels and stomach area started when i was on my 3rd dose of antibiotics. i forget the name of it at this moment.

when the burning began ( on my 3rd dose of tablets) it was " inflamed" even more when i would eat certain foods with acid in it, and it would cause real pain.

the constant burning has been there since my 3rd dose of tablets, it would seem to go away, but come back again. not hurt as much, then it would painfully hurt all over.

the constant burning has worsened by at least 150% more and it hurts just so much whenever i eat now.

it is causing a shortness of breath in me whenever i move around a bit.

I have been on them for 2 days for a Kidney infection and at the moment finding it hard to breath and my throat feels like its closing up, dont know what to do ? finsh or carry on with them a bit scary never had a reaction !!

oh i didnt see everyones post before i wrote the above. but im 29 yr old male currently on my third day of flucloxacillin prescribed to me at a dose of 3 x 500mg a day for 10 days for an infected pimple on my bum. Not feeling myself. experiencing head aches head rushes slight chest pain, feeling really tired but finding it very hard to rest. also getting hot and cold flushes aswell!! im not very happy bout finishing the capsules but want this infection to go away so am gona keep going till they're all gone. personally i dont think they are doing what they are supposed to do cos seeing no sign of improvement. iv had the infections before and it cleared up quite fine by them selves but thought i would see the doctor so they dont come back at all. If anything its slowed the process of healing.

iam 43 year femal i have 4 children i have been taking fluclocillin  4x times 500mg two days i exprience chest pain, short breath, tired, join pain  i never have before that sympthom i went stop ,

I am 67 years of age.  No one else home at present. 
I have been taking Flucloxacillin for three full days.  Through last night around 12.30 a.m. after a restaurant dinner of lovely Chinese banquet, I experienced diarrhoea.  The feeling I had prior to this was one of a weird feeling never experienced before like a feeling that overcame my whole upper chest area.  I wondered if I may have been going to have some sort of attack and was sitting on the toilet thinking and hoping I did not have to phone for an ambulance.
thank goodness after defecating, I lost that horrible feeling.
Taking today as it comes. HOpe I can finish the next three days of treatment.

can Flucloxacillin cause cystitis?

One day after taking flucloxacillin I experienced back pain, neck pain, chest pain, diahorrea, shortness of breath. I'm 27, never experienced shortness of breath before.

I am 66 years old and have recently had heart surgery. The wound in my leg where they harvested a vein for the bypass got infected with Cellulitus, not once but three times over the last 6 months. Each time whilst on 40 Mg of Fluclox. intraveinisly 4 times a day for 10 days I suffered a return of asthma (I have'nt had it for years) and joint pains that almost became unbearable. My ankles, knees and shoulders became inflamed and ached like hell. The joint pain subsided some weeks after the treatment stopped.

I am a 24 year old male. Have been taking Flucloxacillin for an infection of the foot. I have been taking 3 x 500 mg capsules daily for the past 7 days. Experiencing vommiting, dirreaha, inflames throat and stomach cramps, hot and cold flushes. Still have 4 days remaining but think I will stop treatment.

My wife was given Flucloxacillin and began sever vomiting . She had massive cancer operation and this was given for common infection in open wound. Each time she took a tablet the vomiting occured soon after.
