Fosamax

I have had gastric bypas and would like to know if I can take Fosamax.

My sister in law started Fosamax about  4 - 6 weeks ago. Last night had a sudden attack where her digestion just shut down and started backing up on her. Within hrs she was in surgery to remove 2 feet of her colon. As it had swollen to the size larger than a grapefruit on the right side so large that it flipped over to the left side nearly choking off the whole bowel. The bad thing is she is mentally challenged and can't talk. We had no warning.

I feel swollen and feel fatter since starting Fosamax.Weight gain is maybe three lbs but eyes are puffy and face seems swollen. I plan to see my doctor this week. I don't want my osteoporosist to get worse so will most likely stay on it but a diuretic may help.

I've heard that it's worse for the bones in the head (teeth, jaw bones, etc.) than anywhere in the body).  I'm sure there are exceptions and people who get along fine, but there are WAY too many cases to chance it!

red sore throat, chest pains, bone loss, loose  teeth ,  gum shrinkage, reflux,  have had a lot of dental work done to date.. was taking for approx 4 yrs.   had no notion that it was fosamax side effects, . 

Personally, I think it's WAY too risky!  It's not just your bones, but it's depriving all your internal organs of the nutrients they need!  Investigate a product with NO known side effects and lots of testing behind it.  Google Lactoferrin, google the side effects for Fosamax and then check out the Nikken Bone Health Pack:

critical hypertension

I started generic fosamax 10 days ago . After my first dose( sunday) I was fine , but the day after (Monday) in the afternoon I experienced crushing pain in my upper spine that radiated to the front. I had severe difficulty rising from a lying position , severe pain. I notified my Doctor and took pain meds and sleeping pills for the next three days. By Friday I was feeling better.
I took a second dosage the following Sunday and the pain repeated itself the next day Monday.
y Doctor doesn't feel the pill is doing this to me .

Does fosamax affect on teeth cause a major concern. I need it for my bones,but want to keep my teeth!

I have been using fosamax for years for osteopenia. I have good teeth with1 root canal. I am wooried about it affecting my teeth. Is taking it a major risk for teeth? Is there a better way to prevent bone loss? I am 64, good health and use weight trainig( 5'4" white )
