Gabapentin

Hello,
I've been taking a cocktail of meds for 9 years to help treat acute nerve pain from a severe Brachial Plexus nerve avulsion C 7, 8, T1 and Spinal cord injury.
Medications: Gabapentin 3600 mg., Methadone 100 mg. , Baclofen 20 mg. every 8 hours.
These meds keep the pain intensity down to a steady biting, stinging,aggravation with extreme spasms
about 30 times a day.
The side-affects from Gabapentin for me are simply mild groggy when I first take the meds. My heart goes out to Kathy dealing with her depression, by the way is fueled by her Chronic Pain not Gabapentin.
The side-affects of Chronic Pain are losing parts of your life style that you ENJOY such as 1.Gym. 2.Socialize with friends. 3.Work and anything else you can't do as well because of Pain.

I was prescribed 900 mgs. of Neurontin three times per day by my surgeon because of leg pain and back pain five months after a double fusion surgery (redo of lumbar L4-L5/S1) and a decompression of a pinched nerve. The doctor said that I now have indication of scar tissue and inflammation in the nerve in my right leg which has been my problem for almost four years. Although the pharmacist said that that was a very high dosage and I am a smaller woman--110 lbs., I took it with the 600 mgs. plus a cut one to make 900 mgs. After the fifth day, I was so dizzy, I could not stand up. My husband took my blood pressure and it was very low the whole day. I have gone back to 600 mgs. three times/day but my surgeon said that could not have caused my problem. Since getting off of the 900 mgs., I have not had the dizziness, except when I bend down.

I also have had no success with a number of antidepressants that I have tried through the years. I have been on Neurontin during most of that time. Could Neurontin have an affect on the efficacy of the antidepressant? I have also become suicidal so I am off of the latest antidepressant. Now I feel irritable and so sad that I cry all the time. I don't want to go back on another antidepressant, but maybe the Neurontin is the problem. I am just confused and miserable. HELP!!

dose Gabapantin have any ting to do with the nearves in your body

lower abdomen pressure, blurred vision, double vision, dizziness.

GABAPENTIN noticed that medication got worsen n Nurgloist n don't listin. My problem n even rash n stomach ach n was getting stress out n decided go different doctor n was. Going take that chance with my n stop going to Nurgloist n been two.n both don't make senses one said ms n other said I didt have ms n other Nurgloist said I had restleg n that was true n there so stuiped school. N we put our truest these dummies n we human n mouse n now hated.what happen to me n god give me life n have some Nurgloist mess with life n shouldt be sue wrong action?

I was taking 1200 mg of gabapentin for bi polar a couple of years and had side effects of sominence, periferal edema, unbalance, fuzziness between me and reality, loss of memory, shankiness in my hands. I know this sounds bad, but it stopped my anxiety, random talk in my had, I was able to relax more.

My doctor was ignorant of the side effects of this drug so I had to educate myself and take action. I reduced the mg to 600mg per day. 300mg morning and 300mg night and the side effects have lessened. I feel much better. I think each person reacts differently to medications and the patient has to be the final arbitor.

i have taken 300 mg 4 x a day for over 8 to 10 years is that bad. i had the swollen tongue and went to the VA er and they said it was cause by my blood pressure meds and switch for a differnt one. i have tons of different side effects from different pain meds. i dont know what to look for.

Very Sour and Bitter taste when I use Gabapenyin 600 mg

I have been taking Gabapentin, up to 1800 mg per day for Restless legs. I cannot reach ejaculation as soon as I started the medicine. I stopped it previously and my ejaculation returned to normal. It doesn't affect my ability to get an erection or to maintain an erection. I guess some might think this a good thing since I can perform sexually for a long time. But isn't the objective to obtain ejaculation. I am a 70 yeart old male in fairly good health.

For the last two weeks I have been taking a lowish dose of Gabapentin for night-time nerve pain (100gm three times a day and then 200mg at night.) It has worked brilliantly for the pain and I was ecstatic BUT I have now wet the bed two nights in a row, which was pretty upsetting as you can imagine. I wondered whether this had anything to do with the Gabapentin and was relieved to find that enuresis is a recognised although not common side-effect. I can handle it as long as I know it's not going to be permanent.

I am on minor dosage of 100mg, three times a day, for nerve pain, plus taking clonazepam for myoclonic jerks and zopiclone for sleep disorder.
The day after starting Gabapentin, constant and debilitating auditory musical hallucinations (which I have been suffering from for over a year and for which no underlying cause could be found) ceased immediately. =-O
My nerve pain decreased to about 1/4 of what it was.
I don't plan on discontinuing Gabapentin any time soon.

I am on 1500 mg a day for nerve pain, also on very strong pain meds. The Gabapentin has caused me many problems. I can't drive if I have had one in the last two hours. My main problem is short term memory loss. My insurance will not pay for any other med's. I'm stuck I have to take it.

be careful! Avoid Gabapentin at all costs! My mother's doctor ordered a 900 mg/day dose. In the 2 years she was under this dose, she fell 5 times! No doctor 'suspected' this drug! Then, he increased the dose to...1800 mg/day! I almost lost her! I am lowering slowly the dose-and she is new person! PLEASE  avoid it!!!!

I take this because my stupid Indian doctor took me off of Klonopin and put me on Depakote. The Depakote damaged my liver and so he replaced it with Gabapentin. He said that he took the Klonopin because "it can be addictive". Lol. Well, I wander why? The drugs that have minimal side effects and actually work (such as Klonopin) are always noted by doctors to be "addicitve". News flash...it's because they work and don't kill you in the process. To anyone in my same situation, fuck the doctor and find a Marijuana dealer. It's cheaper and easier to get than legal medications such as Klonopin. Marijuana has now replaced my doctor and Gabapentin. I am such a happier person. Word of warning though, even though Marijuana is non-toxic, for some people it can give you anxiety. For me, it helps, but if I smoke a large amount then the anxiety does get worse. Smoke moderately and as needed only. I recommend using a vaporizer as well to make it even safer. My disorder: Bi-Polar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Depression, and Anxiety.

I am just starting Gabapentin to help with phantom pain from a BKA (below-knee-amputation).  I am taking 600 mg and am scheduled to increase to 900 mg, then review results with my doctors.  One of the side effects I seem to have is some loss of balance.  I wonder if this is this common.  Currently, am taking small dose of Oxycodone to relief the pain, when it's the worst.  Hoping the Gabapentin can replace the Oxy.

I just started taking gabapentin for visual, auditory and tactile hallucinations. I've been on it four days and it seems to be working....fewer hallucinations. I was hospitalized last week to determine the cause of my hallucinations but my doctor was unable to give me a difinitive answer. He feels they are of either a psychiatric or neurological origin.

I'm a big fan of gabapentin and I hope it works for me. It worked wonders for my daughter in 07 when she had spinal fusion surgery fior scoliosis. She was in a study (she got the actual gabapentin) to determine how effective gabapentin is in treating spinal surgical pain. My daughter hit her morphine (?) button less than other pattients receiving a gabapentin placebo.

I habe been on Gab for a year now at 800 mg twice a day for headaches. Headache is gone but the side effects are making life miserable. I am nauses, dizzy, lightheades. Hullicinating, off balance, No pain anywhere.  Just had female surgery and 3 weeks later having a very hard time still trying to eat. I cant wait to be reduced and get off this med. Hope the headaches never come back.

I have dizziness

I was taking gabapentin pre-lower disc surgery. I have since been decreasing weekly as instructed by doctor. Three days since I stopped completely and woke with severe pain in left hip/side. Struggled to sit up in bed and felt rush of heat from back to rest of body. Felt nausea and faint. Is this normal for gabapentin reduction and do I need to be more patient.?

worked great for my pain the first day. got me really nauseas though. gives me a drunk feeling. makes me hallucinate too. nothing big though; just things in the corner of my eyes. in the day it makes me tired and at night it gives me energy. cant wait to be taken off!

i keep getting spasms and pain in my calf too.

great so far for my anxiety... just side effects has ... sexually saticfied,nausea little bit.. dizzynezz! lolz.. but great medication/ i think..

I felt really good, I has a heightened since of well being. I was happy. Colors looked very brilliant and bright to me. Stop lights are pretty and I just wanted to reach out and touch it. The yellow lines on the road seemed extra bright and pretty.The color of a black car coming out of a Mc Donalds parking lot. It made me want to crawl inside of it as if it were a big black cozy hole so I could rest. I still feel good. At first my vision seems hazy, sometimes I get a headach and then I get woozy. It took away the burning sensation from my neuropathy, its wonderful. I am a little embarrased to say but it makes me want to eat and have sex,but at the same time I'm too tired and will find fast food and lay down and eat it. Its strange because I'm tired but I feel good. 

pain in my calf but don't know what it's from. it was late in the evening. I thought that maybe I had a blood clot.
