i had this nightmare implanted a year and 3 months. i bleed 90% of the time, my hair is gray and 40% the amont it used to be. i though it was stress and my doc. said is normal to loss hair from time to time... either they are really stupid or they are being neglective?

I have had the implanon for 2 yrs now. The first 3 months were unpredictable w/bleeding and mood swings, but after that, I never had a period. I absolutely LOVE implanon. Its peace of mind & no bad side effects. I didn't have any weight gain, loss of drive, or unexpected bleeding, guess you have to have the right body chemistry for it. I WILL NEVER GO BACK, I plan on having another inserted after this one expires

Amanda, I had the extreme itching also a few weeks after getting Implanon inserted. My doctor recommended a product called Sarna, you can get at CVS and it realky helped. Niw no more itching.

Did you get any bad bouts of PMS when you got it out. Im on about week 7 and although everything else seems to be calming down I've got permanent road rage for everything!!

Apparently if you leave it in longer than 3 years it can make you infertile, so best to have it removed.

I got my implant on dec 6,2011 and it wasnt as painfull as i thought is was going to be. The next day i noticed there was slight bruising but other wise i was ok. About 3 days later it began to itch like crazy and has been ever since. I also have headaches daily.

i got my implant in march 2009 ,had no period for 2 yrs ( i was breastfeeding for the 2 yrs) once DD was weaned i was bleeding every other week ,now nothing ,my side effects are some weight gain ,i look preggers but am not,constant headache ,constant sore throat ,have been having gum issues i have been to the dentist they dont why my gums are receding so bad ,i blame implanon,read some birth control cause issues with your gums,oh yeah sore boobs and no sex drive ...do have anxiety...the only plus my face has cleared up and i havent gotten pregnant...so far

I am so happy to read this Blog. I WILL NOT use Implanon. My practioner highly recommended to me. But after reading these comments, I have confirmed my answer.

I have just endured the WORST 12 months of my entire life.

I feel utterly robbed.

Here's my story.

After having my 2nd baby in September last year (2010) I was advised of a form of birth control which would be embedded into my arm, and would last 3 years, giving me total peace of mind for an unwanted 3rd pregnancy, without the need to take pills. So 6 weeks after having my baby I agreed to Implanon.

Within 4-6 weeks, I started experiencing a range of unexplanable strange, frighting, and uncomfortable symptoms.

The first being 'panic and anxiety' attacks. Something that made me think...

A.I was going to die. B. Unable to look after my children whilst my husband was out working to pay to keep the roof over our heads.
I have NEVER experienced ANYTHING like this in my entire life.

The second....I did NOT stop bleeding the entire 12 months I had this in my arm.

As a result CONSTANT thrush.

Then, next, 'Severe' depression.

The kind that left a dark grey cloud over you 24 hours a day.

Then....my sex drive which was back after week 4 of having my son....FELL THROUGH THE FLOOR!!!!

I got married in August, spent my honeymoon reading books and crying, blaming myself...NO SEX!!!!

I went back to my doctors 4 times!!

Each time, was told the same thing. UNRELATED.

So...decided to help myself, went to PND groups, brought the books, have been in CBT for the past 9 months for panic and anxiety attacks, brought sex toys, only with NO desire to even open the box.

After having completely had enough of a lifestyle like this, I begged my doctor to remove this TERRIBLE form of contraception.

The very next day....5 anxiety attacks!!! The damn thing even screwed with my hormones on the way out of my system!!

I am now on day 4 of removal...I have had 2 sexual dreams, have snogged my husband for the first time in a year, and danced with my children and felt my sparkle back...if you want my advice - STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!

soz forgot to mention i too have put on loads of weight! cant Sleep,& server psoriasis all over my Scalp! & eczema sores breaking out over my forehead! i wouldn't mind but ! i've only had it fitted to ease my endometerosis as i was losing five to ten days every month! i'm going to ask doc to remove it!

Hi Ladies, i too have The Implant for two 1/2 mths,& have server side affects!!,Consisting of server Headache to right side of temple ! joint Pain! Stomach Cramps swelling of leg's! & feet! & "My entire Body", is (itchy from head to toe,) with a constant Prickly Burning Sensation, including chilblains under soles of feet!

Got mine put in a month ago and had a very light cycle which was amazing. Have had acne quite a bit. My biggest concern is I haven't been able to sleep for a week. Last night maybe 5 hours and tossing and turning. Going to call doctor tomorrow.

I have had the implant in for a few months now and I have been more sick than ever nausea dizziness motion sickness stomach pain and the list goes on what do I do

I've had the Implanon for 2 years now. At first it bothered me. My arm itched and I could feel the Implanon inside of my arm. Now I don't mind it so much. I get a period once every 3 months (they are unpredictable and very heavy at first). I have gained 20 lbs and it is all in my belly area and my face which is odd and slightly annoying (people constantly ask when am I due). I have acne on my neck which is a new symptom for me. My sex drive is down but my husband doesn't mind because he likes a challenge and I like that he gives me the extra attention. All in all I have had my fair share of bad side effects but I am a very forgetful person. I was horrible with taking my pill and I am happy to say I have not gotten pregnant.

What a relief it is to realize that the symptoms I have, are due to the Implanon. I've had it since Mar 2009... I have lost most of my eyebrows, get sudden extreme headaches, and my body aches all the time. I have insomnia, severe mood swings, hot flashes, and depression. I had no clue what was happening to me. My doctors couldn't tell me what was happening to me. This thing is coming out ASAP!! This is a high price to pay for the convenience of not having to use other forms of birth control. Thanks to everyone for your input.

I have had implanon for almost 7 months.and at fist when i got my period for over two weeks.it still does that....also ive had 5 yeast infection sense ive got it .two months ago i go ecoli.then the nvt month i got strep throut.ive ben sick more in the past 7 months than i ever been.plus i already had mood problems.and it made it wayy worest.

I've had my Implanon for almost a year and I had'nt done much research before i got it. It is effective againt pregnancy but the side effects are unbelievable! Im ALWAYS sleepy, cranky, hungry, anxious and ect. I ignored these signs for awhile since I had a bad break up right after i got it so I thought that mabye I was just stressed and depressed. But they became more and more presistent and then the weight gain started. it was so bad that people actually started asking if i as prego, and to be honest... i feel like it sometimes. I read that the implanon makes your body THINK its preggers and that one on one hundred women do become prego. I DID not know all of this before i got this thing and if i did i DEFINATELY would have considered another alternative... and yes, the bleeding is beyond aggervating. My best friend and i went at the same time and got it and she suffers HORRIBLY with the EXCESSIVE bleeding. It bothers me but nothing like that. i think that more research and trials should have been done before this implanon wa approved for use amongst women...

I am having the same issues...are you getting yours out? I gained 20 lbs on it and then had to go on antianxiety meds because of the depression which also made me gain weight...I am confused!

Ive been on the implant for 4 months and ive had a bunch of problems with it. Ive had irregular periods that last up 2 2 weeks and then it stops 4 a couple of days then it starts again. I hate this birth control!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I now have a pain going from where the implant was inserted all the way up 2 my shoulder!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im wanting 2 get pregnant but not with this stupid thing in my arm!!! Ive also been having really bad breast pain!!! Im not wondering if i am pregnant!!! the doctor that inserted this said that its not as effective with me because im overweight!!!! My fiancee and I really dont know what 2 do im hestitating 2 get it removed im sick of all these side effects!!!! ive been having really bad mood swings and my depression is getting worse!!!!! All i wanna do is sleep becuz when my period comes i just wanna lay down the cramps and shit are very painful time 4 me 2 get it removed!!!

you are not suppose to breastfeed on any birth control the drs are liars... no birth control is safe for breastfeeding

i have been on implanon for over 2years now and i Hate this S*** with a passion!! my problem is trying to get it removed >>it was inserted in the state of Oregon and i live in Cali now and every where i go including PlanParentHood dont deal with implanon. i went to the hospital and they dont want to remove it neither UGGGGHHHH!!my side effects are mood swings, muscle fatigue, acne, joint pain,Hair loss, sore titi's, dizziness at times and depression:/ i woundnt recommend this source of birth control to anybody and i want this crap out even if i have to do it myself!!! >:o

I have had it almost a year and it SUCKS big time. i immediately started to lose my hair i have horrible mood swings, I'm always crying happy, sad doesn't matters just look up and my face is wet. I'm depressed and i have even thought about suicide. i have five kids and i cant find the energy to even get them off to school. i cant eat sleep finish a or complete a thought. i have horrible headaches. And a discharge that not only i cant get rid of my dos says there is nothing wrong i want mine out.even if i have to do it myself. >:o

I have had my Implanon since October of 2010. I think its a great birth control. I have had some side effects like, the first 3 or 4 months I had nonstop bleeding, I have gained alot of weight, I eat alot, I get mood swings all the time, And I sleep way too much. But I'd rather deal with the pain eat a lot and be fat because of a birth control rather than having a bby. If it wasn't for Implanon I definitely believ I would have a baby right noww if it wasn't for Implanon. So I recommend it to everyonee.

so i have implanon my issue is after first i had a period then spotting no biggie now there is nothing but i am fatigued all the time and i have body aches i dont know if this is because of the implanon or what but if anyone has heard of something please let me know.

i have been on this since last october and i hate it i have the worst headace, i cant get myself out of bed all i want to do is sleep iam always dizzy i bleed all the time and the worst part it always smells down there YUCK i have the worst moods the worst part is i cant be get my self to get up to clean iam always depressed i hate it i can tell something is differnt with me. i feel so bad for my husband b .c sex i dont want it i yell i scream at him b.c my moods are so bad i need to get this out but everytime i ask my doctor to take it out they have me come in and sit down and talk and then she says the same thing oh its dont the implanon i dont think that is what makeing you act like this. she has put me on meds. for depression with is not working all i want is THIS THING OUT why wont the doctor listen to me HELP PLEASE :'(

I would get your thyroid checked before removal, b/c I am having problems with mine and if you wait they'll say it's not from the implanon. I know that it is as I have never had any health problems prior to taking it

and also has an ongoing lawsuit against it...i am starting to think the only good option is vasectomy for hubby

If the pills are estrogen you should STOP taking them as they are links to cancer

I would check out the risks/reports on that also if I were you...it's not pretty

the pain gets worse and so do the side effects, I have 5 kids and can barely function due to complete and total exhaustion

check out the class action law suit against implanon for causing pregnancy when IMPROPERLY implanted, meaning it's your dr's fault

Don't believe them, they tell you it will go away and sometimes offer estrogen which has extremely dangerous risks itself. I have been on implanon for over a year and still have all the symptoms you are talking about and more, I just posted them today on this site. If you have a dr willing to take it out, get rid of it...I can't even find one willing to touch it and moved out of state from the office I had it put in at :'(

I got implanon one month ago. My period started one week later and haven't stopped bleeding since then. I started to having strong headaches and I feel so tired all the time that I couldn't even wake up at night to feed my baby. The sex got so painful because of dryness and no oral sex because of bleeding! I tried to reach my doc. but every time i leave message to nurse they wouldn't call me back. It was a such a waste of money, since insur. doesn't cover! I payed $650 cash and to removed would be another $150. Such a fast and easy money to doc. who didn't even told me anything close to what I'm experiencing since, I was so frustrated... Thanks to somebody who recommended the website www.plannedparenthood.org to get it removed for free because of my low income. Thanks again! Sorry for my accent

I have had my implant for 1 year and 7 months. I had vaginal dryness for quite some time but now it has settled down and sometimes it is the complete opposite which can also ruin sex! In the past two months I have had a constant headache which almost everyday turns into a migraine, i didn't think it to be the implant but after reading these I'm wondering if it is, I can cope with that though as I am now prescribed codeine for the pain :) All in all, I would recommend the implant, it just shows how strong of a person you are and to whether you can put it with the pain (better than the pain from pushing out a baby)

hi. i am exactly the same! ive had mine a year and a bit the last 6-7 months ive had really bad headaches dizzyness, and slight bleeding nose! and just cannot sleep at night! its an absolute nightmare! im definetly having mine taken out! the nurse says that the copper coil would be an option as it has no hormones init! ill try anything apart from this! :(

Have had implanon in 9 months - of which i've bleed at least four months ( one period lasted 2 months). No weight gain - actually the opposite - have lost over 1/2stone, but the headaches are getting worse. And the achne is so bad during a period - as I never had achne when teenager this feels like punishment. As doctor won't consider my tubes getting cut, not sure what else to do.

I being asured by a NHS nurse that Implanon was the safest antcontraceptive metod for someone who was breastfeeding, my daughter was about 5 months at this time and at 1 years and a half she start to develop breast the doctor said its normal and because the implant she may had it due to contact with hormones on my milk he advise me to stop breastfeeding and wait it disapered, but it din't and she start to have pubic hair too when I cae back to the doctors after a serie of exames was confirmed that my daughter has precoucious puberty

Well I had quite the experience let's just say anything that could happen has lol! Since I got this in iv so far had to get my gallblader out have over the roof blood pressure and Cronin headache! I think it time to get it out!

I really like Implanon!  I was worried cause of all the side effects that I read about.  I got mine inserted in October 2010.  It has been 6 months and I feel great!  Have had about 3 really light periods and no other side effects at all!  The first 3 days were scary cause I felt a rush of hormones that I was worried would stay, but they faded fast and I am so glad that I got it! 

hi guys i got my implanon a few months now and only side effects i can see is very light spotting, small weight gain , fatigued , hungry as hell , mood swings, loss in libido , and vaginal dryness. i dont mind the spotting or fatigue ( cause i was always pretty tired ) but the eating all the time i have to constantly eat and i think that combined with the implanon is causing the weight gain , mood swings are pretty bad but i can live with them and im making an effort to control them and it is possible to overridde them just take 10 breaths , and it hasnt taken a massive effect on ym relationship with my boyfriend but there is one problem that effects my sex life massivly ...the vaginal dryness ....i find myself able to get wet at times then other times i cannot get wet and then times il get wet but dry up during sex , this causes pain and a burning feeling ....

i really need to know does anyone else suffer from this and please please can anyone tell me if there is something i can do to fix it??

apart from this i really do love my implanon and recommend it if your a strong individual who can put up with things and override them :)

I have the implanon now since january 2010. i have my periods every day with a few day break every now and again. i finished my periods last monday and got them again thursday. its really affecting my two year relationship because when i have a period break i just dont wanna have sex. before i had it put in i would always be up for it with my boyfriend. im never happy and i find myself feeling bipolar almost. just yesterday i started crying for no reason and took it out on my boyfriend. i went to the doctors but she just gave me pills to take and they didnt work i dont know if i should get it taken out.

i had the implanon put in for 16 months.i had my periods in btn.but now i havent had my periods for 8 month.i have taken my implanon out for a month.hw long i needs to weight to get my periods back.

well,this is the second time am using implanon and apart from the mood swings that i always go through i cant complain.i used it for three years,then tried the pills which didn't work with me coz of weight gain then i decided to go back to implanon. For me its working well

As I promise to let you know after removing the Implanon here is the info:
I got it remove on last Saturday in the morning and the recovery has been amazingly fast.  On Saturday evening I started to feel a lot better, It was something so difficult to explain but I felt like I was becoming again myself.  I feel a lot more happy now, all the bad thoughs dissapeared, all the sadness is gone, everything is a lot better.  I strongly recommend to get it remove If this is causing that horrible secondary effects.

I feel happy, happy now, everything is back to the normality.
Now I will be using the pill, the doctor said there is one called Yasmin that is really good and doesnt have as many side effects as the Implanon.

i used implanon jan 2010 about one year ago, weight gain yes but only 53 kg from 51 kg. no depression, i used with it before. but since march 2010, my period is zero but i'm OK with it.

okay, its been almost a year for me and after reading all of the other posts i have just decided to take this implanon out! It started out with spotting everyday for about three months, i thought this was normal for me becuase the same thing happened with the depo shot. So it degressed but then came the acid reflux. now i cant eat without having stomach pain and uncontrollable gas! it is sooo embarrassing! then i became extremely depressed, i alienated myself from my friends, i stayed in bed super late and i stopped trying to make myself look nice in public. Quickly after this a multitude of things arrived, i became/still am, constantly paranoid and anxious, i cannot sleep until almost 2am every single day, i too sweat except for no reason, i am fatigued all day every single day, and my body feels more fragile for example if a sibling punched me in the arm lightly, i would still feel it the next day! Too think that i have to continue this for two more years just seems more insane than i feel like i am now! I was doing better on the depo shot, so i think that would be better for me. however i have actually lost weight and have not been able to gain anything back, and i am definitely not the body type that can afford LOSING weight, since im 5'6'' and weigh 103 pounds!

I have had my implant for nearly one year, at the beggining it was really good, no side effects at all and a few bleeding everyday.  After 8 months I started to see horrible side effects such as gain weight(almost 10 Kg), a bit of acne, greesy skin, sweating more than normal, stomach ache, deep depressions, feeling guilty for no reason, sad all the time, feeling my life is a mistake, bad mood, feeling, crying for little things, feeling my life doesn't have any sense, feeling madness at my husband, very irritable and not motivated for anything.  I used to be a very optimistic and happy person but i dont know what happened.  I am not totally sure that Implanon is the reason why I am feeling all those things, but I am going to get it remove next week as I have been reading and there are a lots of women with similar sympthoms.  I will let you know what happens next week when I have it removed.

Man, i read about 30 of the comments below and there was probably only 2 or 3 positive ones!! I think this bc just sucks cuz I am not happy with it as well.... Mine was inserted nov/dec 2009, but it was inserted like a month into my depo shot-doctor said that was fine,...so technically i was on depo and implanon for two more months afterward,...didnt notice any changes(while i was on depo i practically stopped having my period all togther, except some light spotting every once in awhle- was on depo for 3 years-LOVED it.) then around feb-march(4 months later) i was so worried i was pregnant... i sarted gainging weight, and feeling sick and dizzy all the time...wasnt preg...then around juneish i started breaking out like MAD, i mean nasty style all over my face non stop, never had acne that bad before, all the time and so many eeewwwww, also i almost never even got one back pimple and now its horrible, on my chest too...all the while i would get dizzy randomly, have pain on my arm where it was inserted, have pain in my boobs, ive gained prob 10 pounds and havent really changed my eating habits or workout schedule, i regularly workout, but still have gained. boobs def got bigger as well. anyway the horrible acne died down a bit, but just recently worked back up horrible style again. All this time ive almost had no period, just sometimes light, or just spotting, then around nov, my one year mark i started bleeding more frequently and fuller periods, then earlier this month it was super heavy and had cramps and i usually never got cramps.(thought i was preg again or was having a miscarriage or ectopic preg!!) I ony got this because it was free and i was about to graduate college and wouldnt have  health insurance anymore so I took a chance, but i am freakin scared as hell about taking this thing out, and im always scared that i am going to get pregnant, i mean how do we know, what, take a preg test every week?? its very annoying and i would tell people to try depo or something else, just not this....it BLOWS

I've had my implant in for nearly three years now (it's due to be removed in March 2011). I have had many side effects including acne (I am prescribed tablets and gel to combat this) and weight gain, but the worst of all is the depression and anxiety. Around my period it is crippling: I am too anxious to leave the house, I have minor panic attacks, I shake with fear at the thought of being in social situations, and I sometime feel suicidal. For some reason I haven't even questioned why I am feeling this way! It wasn't until my sister told me that it had been linked to depression that I began researching it. I have now booked an appointment to see my doctor to get it removed. Thank goodness I've found this out now, because I was going to get another one put in once this one ran out! I can't recall my doctors ever stating these sideeffects to me, and if they did they weren't clear enough about it!

I should have read blogs like this before I decided to have the Implanon inserted. It is a nightmare. Honestly. I've gained about 20 pounds in the last ten months, and no matter what I do or how much I work out it will not go away. But worse than that... I'm going onto month 4 of my period. You did not read that wrong. It's not spotting either. I've had it in for nearly a year. At first it was spotting... then after I had a period that lasted a month, I went back to the doctor to be sure everything was okay. She said it was completely normal and should take a few months to go away completely. It soon got better, then two months later it started again. It used to be off and on but now it is literally every single day, and before I had it inserted, I was just bleeding regularly, but now the bleeding is extremely heavy. It's beginning to affect my relationship and my life in general, and I can't deal with it anymore. I'm waiting to see if the doctor was right... maybe it'll go away after a year... but it's only getting worse right now.

Where do i begin...Ive had the implanon inserted nov 2010 its only been like 4 months and i hate it! at first its like cool you know , nobody can see it, wont get preg for 3 yrs but damn the side effects are a pain in the ass!! I started using the implant about 9 months ago, at first it was ok just some minor bloating now and again. It got worse with time I started gained loads of weight like about 20-40 pounds, and the bloating got worse and worse like I was smuggling a beach ball in my shirt or something. I have always had headaches around the time of my period and they have always been pretty bad, but I felt like I was getting them at least more than twice a month even twice a week. I felt this weird pulsing pain in my arm where the implant was placed, at first I just ignored it but after a while it started to get worse and worse. And as if all of that didn't suck, my periods were about two weeks longer than normal, and sometimes back to back which really freaked  me out. I decided to get this thing taken out yesterday, which by the way the procedure is not as bad as you think, and right away I felt like my old self again. No longer bloated, and scary hungry to a point where I was eating more than a pregnant lady. If your really not happy with the implant I really recommend getting it taken out, it seems to have worked for me. x

I just got the Implanon in today and the Dr. told me that it needs to be removed after the 3 years because it could still affect your periods. It won't be reliable after 3 years but it could still affect you so I would get it removed to be safe.

I've had the Implanon for a year and a half now. I go through head ache's, back aches, and severe bleeding. I thought it was suppose to reduce the bleeding, but it seem to just make it worst. Before I got it i never got cramps. Now i get them bad!!! I would really like to get it out, but it's kinda hard when you don't have any medical insurance

I have had the Implanon for 3 years now it was good at first then turned out completely horrible and I hate it.. Im always bleeding and go through tampons like crazy. Im cramping amd im on my period now and I feel like a needa go to the hospital and get it taken out! I dont know what to do! :(

I have had the Implanon for just shy of a year. The first couple of months was perfect. Less bleeding and normal in any other way. By the 3rd month I described myself as having mood swings equal to those during a "roid-rage." I was always angry and it didn't help that my face was beginning to break out more and more.

Here lately my face looks like a 14-yr old teenage boy's and I am always cranky. I have no sex drive and get awful headaches all of a sudden. I get dizzy a lot more often now and have trouble when trying to focus my eyes. At least 3 times I have noticed that it felt like my arm that the Implanon is in was numb. My back hurts all the time and I cramp without even bleeding. Constantly exhausted and weak and haven't had a good night's sleep in about 8 months. I am calling the doctor on Monday to have it removed. I would not wish this on my worst enemy. 

I got it implanon may2010 after one month of having my son, I have a period once a month without cramps, no acne, no weight gain i feel fine. no emotional out breaks,mood swings or depressed i think it is working well for me?

WAS TOLD BY A DOCTOR IN MEXICO THAT THE IMPLANON WAS INSERTED TOO DEEP AND THE ONLY WAY TO REMOVE IS BY OUT PATIENT SURGERY. BUT HE SAID IT WAS OKAY TO LEAVE IT IN, EITHER WAY THE EFFECT WEARS OFF AFTER 3 YEARS AND I HAVE HAD IT IN FOR 1 YEAR. HE SAID NOTHING HAPPENS IF IT STAYS IN MY ARM. DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT?

I had my implant fitted in March 2010 and to begin with it was fine. My periods seemed lighter than normal. Then (combined with quitting smoking six months earlier) I have put on weight. I go to the gym and other things but the weight doesn't budge, I'm more toned but I'm size a clothes size bigger. I have bad spots too, I feel like a teenager again.

The last few months I have been having really bad headaches, I had my eyes checked and had a new prescription but the headaches have continued. Painkillers don't even seem to help! I am feeling dizzy all the time now which could be due to the fact I have had a month long period and it doesn't seem to be going away!

I am also terribly moody, even more so than usual! I cry all the time about stupid things. I get really moody with my partner and often overreact to things.

After all this, I don't think I can put up with it much longer and I have booked a consultation with the clinic next week and will ask for it to be removed! Shame because I liked not having to worry about taking a pill all the time.

ive had the implant for nearly two years now and rarely go more then a few days  without a period that lasts between3-6 weeks without a break, the stumoch pains are unbarable, im drained beacause of the amount of blood im loosing, other symptoms ive had are headaches, stumoch cramps, drowsy and dizzyness loss of appetite and terrible mood swings and crying for practically crying for no reason. symptoms which i had never sufferd with before having the implant.

ive been waiting nearly 6 months now to have it removed by several different people who are all too afraid to remove it as my doctor ( aswell as many others ) has put it in incorrectly and inserted it in my muscle next to my artery.
im now on a waiting list to see a plastic surgon to remove it and gain yet another scar on my arm where people have attempted to remove it.

after hearing about all the other people who had complaind about the implanon on the news i wanted to let everyone no that ive had problems too and wouldnt reccomend it to anyone. and im now on the injection aswell to be causious because of the over 600 women who got pregnant on it last year despite having the implant!

personally i think its a joke!!

lots of acne, that I have never had before, am to scared to have it removed.

I had the Implanon put in September 2009 went 5 - 6 months without a period, which wasn't unusual as I was on the mini pill before. Then I started losing weight (through diet and exercise) and my periods have been erratic ever since bleeding heavily 3 times in six weeks kicked it off and it has been more and less the same since, also the pain is unbearable given prescription painkillers to help! I went to the GP who gave me a three month course of the pill with a week break each month, this helped but periods were still heavy and painful.
I hoped this would regulate my periods but alas no luck! I have also noticed the heavy bleeds tend to come a few days after my husband and I have sex so I am wondering whether they are linked?
Also my moods are very weird I cry over the strangest things, I don't really want to have it removed but fear I may have to as I can't put up with this any longer we want to start a family towards the end of the year and hope this hasn't affected our chances.

ok I have had implanon for about 7 months now and i was on my period when i got it (march 2010) and then i had another period that lasted about 5 to 7 days in june 2010 its now january 2011 and i have yet to have ANY period no spotting or anything and im glad i read that at least someone has had that same syptom it was not like i was worried i was pregnant but also that same person said they experienced moving in the abdomin and swelling of the feet and i have not had any of that. I really have not had any other syptom other than the no period i mean i get bitchy with my boyfriend sometimes but that was not more than the normal female I am hoping that it is going to work out for me and I do not get any of these awful symptoms that these other ladies are getting. But like my dr told me this bc is not for everyone its a person by person basis the pill did not work for me I was gaining un wanted weight and my period was irregular (however it has been my whole life so i didnt factor that in) and with the pill i dont know if anybody else has the problem of forgetting? But i wasnt so good at remembering to take it the same time every day and if you dont hello pregnancy lol so i was in the office talking about different bc's and was thinking about the nuva ring which my dr said she had lots of cases where it has fallen out during sex and the depo shot which i found in the reviews had women gaining excessive amounts of weight so i decided to try implanon and its worked GREAT for me like i said only symptom is lack of period but is that really that bad?? i read one review that a lady was saying she felt like not a woman with no period but i feel like a LUCKY woman and my friends tell me the same thing
so all in all its really a PERSONAL THING that you NEED TO DISCUSS FULLY WITH YOUR DR FIRST! make sure she/he tells you all possible symptoms and gives you info on all bc types there is a perfect one for everybody and i think implanon is mine.

I had my implanon inserted dec 2010 and I have bled everyday since except for the odd day here and there, probably totalling 14 days. I have gained weight (not a bad thing as I was skinny), I am constantly getting spots, get a headache atleast once a week, migraine bout once a month, my hair is a mess (i dnt know if its fallen out and now im getting regrowth or if its snapped, but I have lotsa shorter bits), have absolutely no sexual appetite (havent had sex since I had it put in), my arms itch on and off, and worst of all its turned me into a bad mother- severe symptoms of pms- I am so stroppy at random times. I get really angry about the silliest of things. Ive given it over a year (even took the pill with it to stop the bleeding but it didnt work), its definately time to say enough is enough, have booked my removal but its still 2 weeks away. I know people who have had no symptoms from implanon, or positive symptoms like decreasing acne and weight loss, but it really hasn't worked out for me, just like most other contraceptives, back to the pill I think!

I have had implanon for about 8 months now, and I can say 100% that I love it. It's not for everybody, but it's working great for me. I have a heightened sex drive, and stronger orgasms. I had my first period about six months after getting the implant, with no bleeding in between.  

 Like I said, this birth control is not for everybody. But I was one of those people who's body didn't do well with the pill, so that's why I got this.

  I would ask your doctor before getting anything anyway.

My implanon has migrated and I am about to get a MRI and possible surgery to remove it :-(...and Implanon won't even call my doctors back!!!

i have had it a little over a year and i have had no side effects and the first month after i got it i had a period that whole month. I do feel some burning feeling every once in a while but thats it. At the moment i love it!!

i have had it for about 2 years now...ups and downs with alot of it...i have all the sudden trouble with my sleeping and feel the same way you do. when i take it out i think i will be better, at the same time i have not got  pregnant and that has been wonderful for me.

I have had implanon a few times, but this time round after just over 1 year I am experiencing a lot of difficulties.  Change in libido and a noticable change in my reactions to sexual activity, mood swings including depression and anxiety.  I want to have it removed but I dont trust other methods of contraception.

i got my implant almost six months ago.

i have had month long periods which stop for about four days then start again, mood swings, emotional lability, hair loss, loss of sex drive, joint pain, abdominal pain, chest pain, acid reflux, bloating and insomnia.

basically this thing SUCKS.

i am currently living in japan at the moment, and am unsure whether or not they even HAVE the implant out here so who knows if i can even get it removed if i want it to.

a lot of the side effects seem to have since calmed down. most of them are still there, but not as bad as they once were. it's the hair loss that i REALLY can't stand though, i'm scared i'm gonna go bald!!!! i mean the constant bleeding is driving me nuts too, but seeing as i have zero sex drive i don't really care cause it gets me out of sex with my boyfriend o_O

and the insomnia thing is really weird too. has anyone else been having trouble sleeping in that they wake up several times a night and are in an almost constant state of lucid dreaming? so much so that my "sleep" isn't really sleep at all, because i'm conscious all night because i'm lucid in my dreams, i'm AWARE that i'm dreaming, so i'm not getting my proper sleep.

on a normal night it takes me about an hour and a half to get to sleep, then when i do i'll just immediately start to dream whilst really being still awake, then i'll wake up fully about 7 or 8 times in a night with lucid dreaming in between.

the implant SUCKS. but i keep holding out hope that the effects will all slowly dissipate. it's been 6 months though, am i just fooling myself?

dude! i had the EXACT same thing. i've had the implant for almost six months, and in maybe month three or four i started getting this dull aching pain in my left arm spanning from my elbow down to my wrist, more of a annoyance than anything else. it was worst in the morning after waking, got better throughout the day, occasionally disappearing altogether but would always return the next day. i thought it was how i was sleeping at first, but i've never had that pain before and it lasted too long to be just a sleep issue.

i spent hours trolling the web looking for someone else who had this symptom but never found anyone until just now, although now, i'm happy to say, this pain is gone for me.

i think it is an implant side effect, i read in a couple of places that joint pain can be a symptom. anyhoo, hope it's gone now for you too!

ok, My wife got her implanon, i believe april of 09. She started out like everyone else, irregular bleeding,loss of hair, & some cramps. She was a very heavy girl and in December 09 she had bariatric surgery. She started having issues like ulcers , nausea and just plain didn't feel good. We thought this was just from the bariatric surgery.With in the last 3 or 4 months she has developed even more problems, more that we thought at first was bariatric related. She developed gull stones(had to have gull bladder removed), she had two polups in her uterus, had surgery to have them removed because she started bleeding and didnt stop for like 5 months or pretty close to it, the cramping got worse, she developed extreme lower abdominal pain, diarhea, shaking like tremors all over her body, hot flashes she had these for three months, there maybe some i missed. She has had colonoscopies, blood test, ct scans of her stomach( which they found two lumps in her breast during the ct scan) everything came back normal. After researching implanon, we called the company and found out 10.9% of women have the extreme abdominal pains and diarrhea. They don't tell you this in the doctors office. And after more research everything that she has had wrong and what I've read from most of you, we found is associated with progesteron overdose......every single symptom she is having has been associated with implanon and the progesterone. So i would look it up if you are having unexplained sypmtoms, don't let you doctors tell you its stress related, or it can't be your implant. Look up progesterone overdose and see for yourselves. Implanon will not tell you that you could develope these symptoms so you will have to research on your own.. Thanks for reading this. I have had my implanon for just shy of 3 years. getting it replaced this month. I never had any of the harsh symptoms. Just the irregular periods. everything else was managable. But I was curious if anyone else out there who has had it as long as me had the experience of having no period towards the end of three years? I know I am not pregnant my periods are just MIA....

I've had Implanon since April 08, it is finally almost time to have it removed. I have had very irregular periods. I will bleed for a day or two usually lightly then stop for a day or two and bleed again for a day... This happens every few (2-4) months, and seems to be the worse of my symptoms. Just recently I have noticed breast pain, as some of you have and I think I may have a bacterial infection or yeast infection, also, for the first time in my life. These are the reasons I will be happy to get it removed. As someone else put it " ...To supress a period is like saying "I dont want to be a woman"" and  "I am strongly looking forward to my first normal period in a while!" Some of the symptoms some of you listed, I have no idea how you can link it to this. I hope you all got the information before you agreed to it. They should have explained the side effects/symptoms to you then. I don't see how you think you can file a lawsuit for things they clearly tell you are side affects, but be my guest and do it just like any American would.

so i have had my implanon for alomst 2 years now. lets start at the beginning, i had pretty heavy bleeding for the first 6 weeks or so which i was told was normal. Luckily i didnt have a mate at the time so didnt have to worry about that causing any issues! i never had a "regular" period so the new scheduale i followed wasnt suprising! i only had a period every 2 months or so that lasted about 3 days off 1 or 2 than on another 3 or 4. fine by me, no cramps like i had, no horrible pms pains none of the above. dont know if i can blame my migranes however since ive always had them. Now i dont have a period at all which is nice till that lil voice in the back of my head always has me wondering if im prego (but im not!) :) overall i love my birthcontrol EXCEPT that after i had a LEEP proceedure done a few months ago i gained LARGE amounts of weight out of no where! we are talkin 35+ lbs in less than 2 months! got my thyroid checked and my levels were normal, no new habits that would cause the gain so its be attributed to my bc. its slowed down now but that doesnt mean it went away! so now im having to work to loose the 30 lbs gained instead of the weight i already had to work on. im not happy with that but its SO much better than traditional bc! and the side effects for me have been so menimal i wouldnt go any other route....oh and be aware of the extra bitchy PMS symptoms! they came about a week before my period and they were horrible..for others ;)

I've had the Implanon for a little over a year now. I have had good experiences and bad ones. Starting with the good, I haven't had a period in over a year now( not even spotting ), I have lost twenty pounds (my be good for some, but not the little twiggy who's writing this), and I havn't managed to get pregnant (which is amazing cause my family is filled with fertile mertles). Now for the bad, I have had every pregnancy symptom in the book, from movement in my abdomen to swelling feet. Over all, I don't no wheather to reccomend it or not. It is the first and only birth control I have ever been on and I don't know how difficult or easy it is to use any other. If some else has a story similar to mine please post it so I know I am not the only one out there with these symptoms.  

i have seen alot of different experiences with implanon..more people rather not have sex while on it then to have sex. i want to have sex all the time, i feel like i should have sex every other day if not everyday. its weird for me but then i want it out also

my expeirence with implanon has been good and bad. bad: i use to get very bad headache's that would last for days at a time, i would be on my period for 3 months at a time, i would have very heavy bleeding, and i have gained more than 30 lbs.. while on this b.c. i have got a bacterial infection, yeast infection, and bladder infection (not saying that it cant happen without the birth control) but this has happened while on it good: i have had unprotected sex with multiple patners, all have busted their sperm inside of me and i have not got pregnant and it has last for 2 years now. since the bad out ways the good, i feel like i should get rid of it but because i will be very fertile and im addicted to sex i may get pregnant. i dont believe in abortions and i want a father to my child who is worth it. what to do? 

I had the implanon put in almost a month ago and since then I've experienced terrible migraines, dizziness and nausea quite frequently, and I get breast pains even more frequently. I never thought that all this was because of the implant.

i got implanion a year ago at first my hair did fall out a lil an my periods was crazy. however i love it now i barley have a period an it works great for me...i would recommened it to others...i am gtn the implanon removed cuz im ready to have a baby...bt this was the best birth controle ever

I had implanon inserted in March of 2010, I had spotting for 3 months and then it stopping. Ive become very emotional and im very bad moods all the time. Ive lost all sex drive. And now its November, 8 months since i had it inserted and ive started bleeding very heavy with lots of cramps. I dont know what to do.  

Okay so my hair has been falling out since I've got the implanon, I was suppost to start my period but i didnt and the next day i started spotting then stopped then started again, whats the deal with that am i pregnant or is it side affects? And when me and my husband have sex it hurts me inside i want to get the impanon removed now....

Ever since I have had my implant put in i have been having heavy periods with alot of pain. It will stop for about 2 to sometimes 3 days but then start up again. I eat just like i use to but i am losing weight. I constentaly get horrible migrains, and feel dizzy. At first I thought I could of been pregnant. but i am not. I also get pains in my brest, kinda like somebody is pinching the side. And my hair has been kinda falling out... Im seriously thinking about getting it removed...

I had implanon put in July 2010. At first I didn't notice anything. About a month into it, I noticed I was starting to break out and I have never had an acne problem in my life. I had a period for about 3 wks and now just some spotting. The acne has only gotten worse and I'm tired all the time. I guess sex drive is about gone too. Urine has a very strong unusual odor as well. As of last wk, I have had terrible stomach aches and my lower back is in constant pain. I'm having it removed in 2 days and I can't wait.

I had Implanon put in two months after my daughter was born (4/09) and had it removed three weeks ago.  My number one reason for having it removed was that I went from what I consider a normal, active sex life to not wanting to be touched at all.  The sporadic periods didn't bother me, as I knew it was a probability however not wanting to be intimate with my boyfriend was killing me.  About two weeks after having my implant removed I felt the desire come back.  I'm back to normal now and am totally excited (and so is my boyfriend).  :)

I won't go as far as stating that this isn't the best solution for everyone because I believe everyone's bodies will react differently to it.  Give it a try and if it doesn't work out, try something else.

i have also suffered long periods some that last 5wks and have very bad cramping....ive had the bar in for 12months and ive also suffered from  ENDOMETRIOSIS  that my gyn is finally going to sort out think i'll get it taken out as  well

I got my implanon in September of 2009, my doctor told me my period might be irregular for the first three months, but then it should go back to normal. well needless to say, that was very wrong. I won't have a period for around 2 months, then when I get my period it'll be for almost a month or longer. My cramps are soo bad I don't even want to get out of bed when I'm on my period. I want to get this out soo bad, but I don't have insurance right now. I need to figure something out soon though, because I can't deal with this anymore.

I would NOT recommend the implanon to anyone else. It's not worth the pain or horrible cramps and the inconvenience of super long heavy periods.. 

Go to planned parenthood. If you do not have any money for insurance or removal, planned parenthood should give you the help you need and take it out for a great discount, if not for free.

I have experienced the same side effects you have and my doctors also blamed it on stress...I am going to have Implanon removed asap I am sick of it

Two months ago, I had my Implanon put in. I also expierienced the same 5 week perio and random stomache pains

I have been losing my hair, gained 20lbs, mood swings, emotional all the time, i'm depressed 99% of the time now! I cannot take this thing anymore, but guess what? with having a 9 month old son all my money goes to him so that three hundred and something dollars they want, so they can take it out, I DO NOT HAVE! I think if we are extremely unsatified with this thing they should take it out for free or atleast a much much much much cheaper price.
I HATE THIS IMPLANT, I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE I KNOW OR DONT KNOW TO GET IT!

i've had the implanon since may and for the past month my left arm has been achey and hurting mostly when i wake up but also through out the day. i though it was because i slept on it but ive done that my whole life and i  sleep on both arms and only the left on hurts. i dont know if that is a side effect of the implanon but its driving me nuts

I have had the implanon for 1 yr and a 1/2. It do have little side effects for me but nothing that makes me dislike it. I have not gotten my period since I had it inserted. I have spotted a few times but thats it. I have increase appetite but I exercise and maintain my weight. I have and increase sex drive but that fine cause I have been with bf who is now my finance for 7 yrs. He happy lol. I dont have any pain but every month when i guess i am supposed to be having a period I do have mood swings like i dont wana be bothered but other than these things i love. When I get it out in jan 2012 i plan on havin another child then getting the implanon again. Remember every birth control works different for everyone so choose wisely.

I got the Implanon last January i was spotting for about six months and then nothing for about three to four months i randomly get welts on my arm where it was placed and now i have been bleeding for about 5 weeks straight anyone have the same problem?

I have had my implanon for 8 months now, and still haven't got my period since i got pregnant with my son 17 months ago now! That is nice but i am a adult and have two young children and now have horriable acne, and mood swings! The past few days i have had horriable pain where it is located and thinking of getting it out and the tubes tied!

My implanon makes my period really late, and make me have ache.

I have had the implanon for exactly a year now and it has been a nightmare!! i have the most random mood swings. i had a period for most of the first 6months of having the implanon fitted. and for the last month i have been producing breast milk, even though i'm not pregnant. (i took a test which came out negative) but it's been horrid.i will be taking it out!!

Ive had the implanon for around 7 months. It was fine at first, healed nicely no problems. I started to become over emotional and my mood swings were unpredictable and hard to hide. After 3 months I started itching and my whole body would have red marks an scratches with bumps under neath as if i had been stung by a nettle bush or bitten by a mosquito. i tried using creams to stop the irratation but it didnt help. the doctors said they had never see anything like it. my guess im allergic to implanon :|

Im sixteen . And have Implanon for a month now . the only side effect I have is a late period . I didnt want to get it i was forced by my older sister !!

i am 20 years old amd i got my lmplanon when i was 19, i have had trouble with mine, i have hair lost and i have longer periods, and i have gain losts of weight so now it's time for it to get taken out.

I am 19 years old and i got my implanon when i was 17 years old, i have had no trouble with my implanon just the normal effects like no period for a year then it comes irregularly. i get the normal mood swings when i get my period and i have gained only a little weight. The only down fall is u need to take regular pregnancy tests if your sexualy active. 

same thing here it was great at first n then after a few months ive been having these embarassing growth of dark hair on my body i sweat like 5 times than what i used to i get these horrible hot flashes n the list goes on i know what u r going through i wanna hire a damn lawyer n file a lawsuit against impalnon i dnt want their money i just want these hairs n other stuff gone back to me my life

Iv'e had my implanon in for almost 2 years and ive noticed i was starting to grow dark hair on my tummy and then slowly i stared to grow dark hair on my chest and on my back and everywhere else on my body. im so embarrased to take a shower with my boyfriend i'm pretty sure he has noticed we been together for 5 years and ive never had problems before the implanon ive talked to my ob gyn about this but she told me that its nothing to b aware of ive also had alot of mood swings i dont know what to do if i should hire a lawyer to file a lawsuit against implanon i just want these nasty hairs off of me and i also been getting bumps on my tummy like a mosquito bite n they r red n ugly n they even hurt at times please someone i need help i cry constanly my selfasteem has made me think of commiting sucide but i dnt want to cause i think bout my girls why is this happening to me i feel like i look like a hairy beast im scared this is gonna ruin my relationship with my boyfriend of 5 years im too embarassed to ask anyone for help they might think im dumb or something please someone help what should i do i just know its this damn implanon ive heard of many women thats taking birth control pills and they have started to notice they were getting dark hair on their body i dnt have the money to take this 0ut n its to late ive heard this dark hair is permanent

(Same person as the other comment) Also, I meant to say that different medications just react differently for everyone. My doctor told me that it depends on personal factors whether it is right for you or not. I'm sure that's why some people are having such bad reactions to it. I'm sure that's no fun and I hope it gets better once you take it out, if thats what you choose (to all the women posting their bad experiences).

I have had a very similar case. I have some acne from it, but just got medication from my doctor last week to help with that. Also I've been having periods as well, but like yours, they are just spotting.  I have to wear a panty liner or small tampon often, but I have read that it is normal and that it should go away after a few months of my body getting used to it and settling down. I really like it as well. As someone else had posted, this is pretty much the only place I've seen that has so many bad reviews and accounts of the implanon. Mostly everywhere else I've read and everyone I know that has it likes it a lot. Btw: I had mine placed June first, 2010

Iv had Implanon for about 2 years now and i think it is messing my body up! It was doing good at first, no side effects, and then i started getting stomach problems. I had heartburn really bad, abdominal pain... i didnt think nothing of it. I figured my pregnancy caused some small problems. I went to the stomach doctor and he told me i have inflamation and i will grow out of it. So it would flare on and off. And now i have it more often, and i also have a period more often. I dont think there is a day that goes by that i dont bleed. Its embarrassing with my boyfriend b/c all i do is bleed all the time. He dont mind but i just feel so gross b/c its always happening. And really early in the morning, i have always been a breakfast eater. But here the past couple months, i cannot eat in the morning or i will cramp up really bad and it will just go right through me. And then i will walk all cramped over b/c my stomach is hurting so bad. So i started to monitor it. The days that i dont bleed too bad are the days that i seem to be able to eat more and my stomach dont hurt as bad and i can just be normal. But the days that i bleed a lot, im dizzy, im tired, i cant really eat or my stomach will just start acting up. I know its got to be the birth control! Iv checked every other possible reason and nothing adds up like that does. Iv asked friends that have Implanon if they are experiencing some of the same symtoms and one of my friends says she had the constant bleeding and the stomach pains... Dont get me wrong, its definately an effective birth control, it works!! But someone needs to do some more research on it and figure out why it causes so many problems to go along with it. Im gettin mine taken out as soon as possible to see if my suspicions are right.

Can the implanon cause your hair to slowly snap off?

iam 20yrs old..n i had my implanon inserted june 2009.i thought everythin was great about it,until....i started gettin mood swings bad..n bad headaches..sex drive went down,n havin problems with my husband over that..menstrual period sooo irregular i wish it was back 2 normal..yesterday i started gettin some dark brown rashes loks like i burned myself..one on top of my lip,2 on my shoulders n another on my hand..n i also had that a year ago...and now im undecided if i should go take it off or not..=/

I have just had my Implanon bar taken out. I got the first one in December 2006 and the second one in December 2009. However, stupid me believed everything the doctors told me. I have been hospitalised due to chronic abdominal pains, diagnosed with endometriosis and then diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome after the pain did not subside. I have suffered from hair loss, mood swings, pain in legs, lower back and abdomen, constant heavy bleeding for months at a time, thrush, lower sex drive and also a massive increase in sex drive at different periods, Depression, panic attaks, not wantign to leave the house, episodes of fainting(hospitalised for this also) I am always tired but I cannot sleep. The reason I have finally had it removed is because of sites like this. I thought I was alone in this suffering. I thought there was something wrong with me. I have even had doctors telling me that its in my head! For the past 4 weeks I have been vomitting every morning, My breasts are twice the normal size and so very sore, I have been craving unusual foods, I have been HIGHLY emotional, Urinating heaps, basically all the signs of pregnancy. So yesterday afternoon I told my doctor that if he didnt remove it i would. Needless to say he decided to remove it and also gave me a script to have pregnancy blood test done as I have had 3 urine tests and all have been negative but I want to be 100% sure. Im going off all hormonal contraceptives...... my body NEEDS to be normal it needs a break. Im sorry to all those out there who still have theirs in and are suffering. What we all need to realise is that to supress a period is like saying "I dont want to be a woman" I can tell you all now that pending this blood test I am strongly looking forward to my first normal period in a while!

I have lost my sex drive after implanon insertion.

It's been few weeks I have implanted Implanon.  I am  suffering from total loss of sex drive. I am not really sure what should I now?

I got Implanon implanted March 3 2009, i had one period and stopped, and did not have a period again... everything was fine exepet a little tenderness on my arm and some leg cramps. but i did not associate the leg cramps with the implanon, now all of a sudden i am spotting a dark pinkish grey blood, my legs kill me every day i am lossing hair, and i have gained alot of weight. i am so worried i have a doctor appointment tomarrow but i am still worried. i cant take the pain in my legs anymore i want to sue like another blog i read. this is crazy bc couseing leg pains!!! 

ive had my implanon for almost two years and right now im bloaded and cramping up top real bad, also when i wipe its a darker color does anyone else have any side effects like this

i had implanon placed 2 months ago and it has been non stop bleeding. the color is normal and its not as heavy as a normal period but every 2 weeks its like a normal period again. im getting kinda irritated with it. is it ever going to stop?!?!

i'm scared i'm gonna end up bald

i had it inserted on june 14 and have since had really bad anxiety attacks and losing lots of hair

implanon have made me lose weidht but it also hurts sum times ready to get it removed

i got the implanon oct 09. i bleed for an entire month every other month, i have acne something i never had before and i have gained almost 40 lbs....i also have leg pain in my right thigh and constant worry of becoming pregnant...i finally had it removed aug 3rd so i will update on my symptoms

I got the implanon. It was fine for the first month. I came on my period, and it went off fine. Then a few days later I started bleeding again. But it's not like blood. Its darker and its sort of like regular discharge.. Will this stop ? 

i got my implanon im december of 09 and havnt had bleedin 4 the first 2 mouths now it wont stop i got prgnent on this and because my doctor can not see me 4 3 more day i am miss caring i went to the hospital last night and they told me because of my age 18 that with this bith control and the hormon pills my doctor gave me its goin to leave scare tissue on my uteris and maynot be abale to have kids ever

jesus that is horrifying.  I just googled Implanon side effects because I'm considering getting mine taken out because of the side effects.  Sorry, I hope things work out!!!

FEB. 2010 I STARTED BLEEDING AND IT HAS NOT STOPPED. I HAVE GONE TWICE TO GET IT REMOVED BUT EVEN WITH ULTRASOUND THE DRS. COULD NOT FIND IT TO REMOVE IT. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST SCARIEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. SO NOW DO I LIVE THE NEXT TWO YEARS WITH THIS BLEEDING, OR GO FOR ANOTHER CUT? PILLS? MAYBE, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE DEVICE LOST IN MY BODY?

I got my implanon in April. I started my period the first few days of May and almost August now...And my period hasn't stopped. It hasn't even gotten lighter. I'm thinking about getting it removed. It's too much of a hassle to bleed that much. Has anyone else had this problem? 

I got my implanon 3 days ago and everything seems great so far....I was told that I would bleed for the first six months roughly and they asked if that was ok. I agreed because I dont mind as long as I dont get prego. I was on the nuvaring but it made me have mood swings like no other I would get really bad cramps a week before my period and would have really bad periods. Lets see how this works but as far as I heard its great except on here is the only place I have really found that it is bad....hope I didnt make a wrong choice on bc....

I had implanon implanted for the first time in April. The only side effect I am experiencing is really bad back ache first thing in the morning. It feels really stiff and painful in my lower back when I wake up and tends to last for about 2-3 hours. Apparently though this can happen

I had implanon implanted in my arm early January of this year. I bleed from the time I had it put in until 2 weeks ago when I had it removed. I experienced continuous bleeding, nausea, massive exhaustion, headaches, hair falling out, and a list of other stuff. My blood cell and platelet count dropped extremely low, and I am now having to wear a heart monitor due to blacking out and multiple dizzy spells during the whole episode. I had the same problem with the shot.

I've had implanon since march of 2010. At first my arm was really tender and bruised, but that was really the worst part. I've gotten slight acne, but it comes and goes. My periods are more like spotting and last as long as my old periods did. They just don't come as consistently, but that doesn't really bother me. Over all I think its the best birth control I've been on.

hey, i have only had implanon for 3 months and every period i bleed for almost 3weeks. i was wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them? someone please tell me what i can do!!:(

i had the implanon put in may of 2009 and since then i have gained weight my hair is falling out now im starting to bleed and im very depressed not to sure i want this in anymore but not sure what other birth controls to get ?

I too am experiencing complications with Implanon, I have had it for almost 2 years.  I have gained lots of weight almost 60 pounds, no sex drive at all, fatigue, sick on my stomach daily, depression and anxiety, and horrible migrane headaches.  I have medicaid and have spoken to doctors but they blame it all on stress.  What can I do?  Are there any suits, or recalls?  Contact at almartin2698@gmail.com

I have had implanon about 3 months and 75 out of 90 days I have had bleeding. I'm not sure if this is normal. It's really frustrating. Is there anyone with this same problem?

i got the implanon sometime around may or june of 2009. about 2 months after i got it i started noticing my hair thinning around the edges. thought it was stress. now its may of 2010 and im itching all over all the time i have strech marks down both of my arms, i have vaginal itching i never know when im gonna have a period. i've had migraines since i've had it and now their worse. my skin has gotten really dry my hair is falling out in patches litterally. i got out of the shower and i started to brush my hair out and chunks of hair was coming out into the brush. i dont have my sex drive anymore. i get frustrated easily, and am having mood swings like no other. i went to the hospital because if my hair and because i broke out in a rash all over the back of my neck, ears, and hair line along with the hair loss.i've gained soooo much weight. i weight way more than i did when i was pregnant all 6 times!!!! i mean this is rediculous. im gonna try to get a lawyer about this stuff. now the doctors at the hospital cant do nothing for me. im gonna get it taken out as soon as possible. don recommend it to anybody!!!!!!!! im sewing!!!! theres images attached to this blog!! look at them.

I've had implanon for two days now its bruise where they put it in but other than that Ive been fine il keep my updates here for the last month and i can answer any other questions as well let me know if you need something.

hi i had the implanon put in bout 3 weeks ago, and for the past two weeks, my whole body has been itchy all over. saw docs yesterday, and theyre nto sure if its a side effect or not, but have put me on antihistamines and steroid cream, due to go back next week, but ive been warned that it mite be a side effect and that i might have to have it taken out. that is wat im not wanting, as it helps sooooo much with my periods, ive just ifnished a 3day period since being on implanon, and where im normally doubled up in pain ive got nothing, and used to be so heavy, now im light as anything. anyone had any itchign similar to this?

i have hair loss ,acne and mood swing cld dthis be due to the implanon have had it for six years now but really worried about the hair loss and acne am 38yrs

The implant itself caused no pain or irritation.
However over the two years that i had the impl ant, i seem to have aged about  10 years.
Before having the implant, i looked at least 10 years younger than i am (i was 31) and was frequently asked for I.D when buying alcoholic products.
My skin has lost its elasticity at an alarming rate, im getting grey hairs (which i feel is far too soon as i am blond and my mother did not begin going grey until her 40s. i have developed some beard growth, where previously i had none, now i have some spiky dark hairs. I now have long dark hairs all over the back of my thighs. 
All this has occurred suddenly whilst using implanon.
Could this be due to the hormone changes the implant causes.
I personaly strongly believe all of this is due to Implanon, and i think women have a right to know that it is potentialy very damaging in the ways that i have described.
I am based in Cheshire in the north of England.

Never really smoked, and rarely drink. Dont do drugs.

I have definitely experienced the weight gain.  I have gained 50lbs within 1yr.  I have tried many diets but I have failed because like you said...I can't shake this hunger feeling.  I'm in the process of trying to get it removed and having a difficult time b/c of insurance issues.  I'm sick of this.  Get rid of it now would be my advice

I've had implanon for a month or two now, and it's been itching where it was implanted at.

ive had the impant in since 4th feb 2010 and fr the last two weeks or so ive been feeling very tired, ive had severe stomache cramps with no bleeding, ive been feeling very sick throughout the day and i am even woken up in the night feeling very sick, my stomache as become very hard and i am begining to think that i am pregnant i have done 4 tests all negative and ive been give sikness tablets which havent done a thing, i was wondering if anyone could help me?????

im 19 and have had implanon in since 2008. over the last couple of months, every 2 weeks or so my arm has been really itchy where the implanon is placed. last night it was itchy and i looked at it and there a bubble on the implanon.. I left it alone and checked it a couple of hours later and it had gone. Do you think I should go to my doctor?

I had the implanon placed about 6 weeks ago and I'm not sure I want to keep it in. I bled for almost the entire 6 weeks and feel like I am gaining weight. I'm not sure about the weight, but my clothes are fitting differently. Also, I am hungry all the time. Even when I am eating and right after. I can't shake this hunger feeling. I don't know if it's related, but I've never had this issue before. Has anyone else experienced this?

I had the implanon since April 08.I was spotting for the first 6 wks after that then it totally stopped and loving it. Yes, I put on 5 lbs. Then a little over a year, I started bleeding straight for at least 3 mos. Sonogram was normal. Then end of Nov 09, I started bleeding again and still am up to now. I will have thyroid checked and another sonogram this afternoon. When the results come I will probably suggest to have it removed. The reason I opted for bc is being bad for taking pills religiously and whenever I have periods, I always have bad bad bad cramps I would end up in bed, pale and weak. I will update this post on the outcome of the tests/sono.

i just got it put in 3 days ago and it still hurts really bad and ever time i move my arm it feels like its stabbing me...is this normal???????????

I had the same problem - constant bleeding. I got it put in a year and a half ago, I'd say. After about 6 months I went on the contraceptive pill. That way I had regular periods and felt fine. Then after 3 months or so I stopped taking the pill and have no had a period since.

Ask your doctor to prescribe you the pill. The implant is good because you know you are never at risk of pregnancy if you are sick or miss a pill, so I would keep it in. Just use the pill as a bleeding regulator.

Hi I'had implanon in jul 2009. after having implanon first 6 weeks are awesome......no periods. but after 6 weeks there is continuous bleeding till now. when i met GP she has suggested me to have some more external dosage of progestrone.....but it also did'nt worked like the bleeding control pills which i've used for many days. please help me!

I was wondering I have had the implanon for about a little over a year and to me ,ever since i had it , i have loss a lot of hair majority of it shedding doesn't matter how many time i comb my hair it constantly falling out. Is there anyone else experiencing this problems! :( :( :( >:o >:o >:o >:o
