γ-knife treatment was twice applied to my wife with excellent results.

How have steroids been used successfully to help with side effects from ipi? Were they taken daily long term or a short intense dosage?

I'm wondering if prednisone has been effective in eliminating extreme fatigue, headache, nausea etc associatied with the cumulative effects of ipi - Also what doses are the prednizone doses that re usually prescribed? Thank you.

no you dont require this drug now. it is for people with advanced disease that is inoperable.

I am  about to have my fourth treatment of Ipilinumab tomorrow and found it interesting to find this site.  I have had  slight stomach pains for the first  two months but  now find the pains increasing in the lower abdominal area.  I must add that I had most of my pancreas removed as it had three tumours on it and thus am also on Creon protein absorbtion tablets.
The most important part of this whole challenge is to keep a POSITIVE attitude.

My husband had first ipilimumab treatment.  He has melanoma in lungs, and some nodes in pelvic area and 13 lesions in the brain.  He has had one brain bleed and last mri showed one to be leaking slowly.  Is it too late for ipilimumab to work?

I did not get ipilimumab, because it is non available now on the market of drugs. But I'd want to know if it is useful when, as me, one have an intermediate Melanoma of 2 mm, with the positivity of SL only and negativity of the other Linph nodes of the armpit

ive been on the drug for over 1 year now after the  first doses  i had pain at tumor sites and my tumors grew but i knew this could happen i took motrin and tramadol for pain then my tumors started to shrink  i had a large mass of lymph nodes in my lt axillay area now they are not seen in ct scans  and my other tumors are now  minimual my side effects have been very  minimal and i have been able to cont to work and that was a big worry to me because i had heard about the poss aide affects and that some times the worse the side effects the better the results because this showed you were reponding to the drug but i was reaasured that was not always true but what ever the side effects make sure to discuss this with your doctor

If you are stage IV, your doctor can get you on a compassionate trial.

I wish i had an experiene. I have Melanoma stage 4 and Drs. have given up on me because I have heart disease. Chemo is hard on the heart. One Dr. wanted me to try Ipilimumab but I can't get into a clinical trial. Bad heart??? FDA is studying Ipil. but approval not expected until Dec of 2010. May be too late. I really doubt that they want Ipilimumab to be very successful as cancer is such a big business. So I am just left to letting diseases take over.  Of course I am 79 and am expendable.

Can I ask how you were able to obtain this drug? I am desperately trying to get for my boyfriend

I received my third dose a week ago.  I have unbearable itching on my arms and lower legs.  I had some pain in the area of my tumor witin 24 hours of my third does.  It lasted for about a day.  In the last week I have been very fatigued.

Also, (my mom is 77 post).  She is taking the neuropathy drug Neurontin.  She is on so many meds, not sure which one is helping the pain.

My mom, aged 77, just completed her 3rd ipi infusion Wed 8/18.  It started in her lungs.  Brain metastisis with removal of one tumor June 9, 2010.  4-5 small tumors still.  She's not 100% mentally alert, but she tells us the pain from the tumors on her upper thign feel like blistering sunburn.  She has not been eating lately, only drinking boost.  Her oncologist is treating the pain on her legs wtih lidocaine patches and that seems to help.  She also has a fentanyl patch on her arm and uses Actiq 'lollipops's for pain control.

My friend is having more pain where the tumor sites are..she is now taking advil and maybe a small amount of pain med...how many doses have u taken..

I have a friend that has one more dose left to take..she has it in the bones as well as the adrenals and some other areas of soft tissue..her sternum area hurts alot and her abdomen hurts and doubles her over..all of these sites have turmors..I think it is because the tumors grow and then shrink..what have u been told..

Yes I am. The pain is unbearable. I have been taking vicodin and iuprophen.I have also been having hair loss , and shortness of breath. This is a tough chemo to go threw and I've only had 2 dosages

I'm on this treatment and want to know if anyone is having pain where the tumor sites are and also if anyone is having hair loss?
