Keflex

Took reflex for an infection. Three months later ruptured my Achilles playing tennis. Never had any problem with my Achilles before that. Never made any connection between the Keflex and the rupture but am now wondering. Is it possible three months later to have this happen.

strong heartburn, stomach pain, and some diarrhea. Actually not sure if it's a reaction to the medication or just a weird coincidence. have never had keflex before this.

Its pointless taking more toxic drugs if the CYPs in the liver and digestive system do not function, meaning that even small dose of any meds could reach toxcity level.

i can't keep my eyes open, it sedates me so.  when i awake, i am
severely depressed all day.  i don't ever get this depressed; it zaps the energy right out of  me.  i'm aware this side effect is very unusual, but i truely
experience these symptoms every time it's prescribed.

I was taking Keflex until just yesterday. It was prescribed for a UTI. I am 30 weeks pregnant, and during the time I was taking that my daughter stopped moving as much. Once my fiance convinced me to not take it, after enough time for it to be out of my system my daughter started moving around normally. I will never take this medicine again.

Non-traumatic bilateral quadricep tendon rupture.  One of less than 100 cases since 1940.  I have a better probablity of hitting the lottery twice on the same day.

I was prescribed Keflex in 2006 and did the full course of treatment.  During that period, I was a member of Golds Gym but all I did was run.  In the fall/winter of 2006 into 2007, I ran two 5k races and remained quite active.  In June of 2007, I agreed to play soccer and went out to a field to play.  I was not on the field for 10 minutes before my accident occured. 

I was licking around the ball, trying to get warmed up when as I tried to kick a ball, I heard two sequential pops.  First in my right leg as I made contact with the ball, then in the other, which was firmly planted in the ground.  Of course I collapsed and was taken to the hospital.

A few hours I took Keflex for UTI, I developed severe chill, and uncontrollable convulsion.  The shaking was so bad, I couldn't even take temperature. After my husband came home in about 10 min or so (by then the convulsion has stopped), he took my temp and was almost 107F.

After the efficacy of Keflex ran out, my tempature naturally went down.

The problem is that bec. this seems to be rare reaction, the nurse didn't think it's anything to do with Keflex, and he told me to take another dosage.  Well, I didn't. (thank god!)  Now I asked the Dr. to change the prescription to Cipro and it seems to be fine.

I'm very healthy, and I didn't think i had any allegy to drugs.  The only other drug I took with this was Tyrenol 500g.  So it's pretty obvious that it's caused by Keflex.

About 9 years ago, on the advice of my GP, I took Keflex (can't even remember what for now). I remember waking next morning with a strange feeling in my mouth. It actually felt greasy, as though I had been eating fish & chips or something similar.
After many tests, I was diagnosed with "Dry Mouth Syndrome" (what else?). Apparently, I do not produce enough saliva to keep my mouth feeling moist and fresh. The symptoms have not diminished in all that time and I now have to have 6 monthly dental checks and have to use Colgate NeutraFlour 5000 Plus toothpaste (which has a fluoride content 5 times higher than normal fluoride toothpaste. This is to give my teeth extra protection (usualy provided by saliva).
I don't remember having peeling lips but that is possible.
I cannot talk more than a few sentences without running out of saliva and have to stop to run my tongue around my mouth a few times to enable me to continue.
Doctors and specialists don't seem to want to agree that the keflex was responsible but it all happened overnight which seems too much of a coincidence to me. 

Has anybody had a dry mouth as a side effect of Keflex please? I'm on my 5th day of taking them for a bladder infection and I have already had bowel problems and indigestion as preumsed side effects, but the dry mouth and peeling lips with a metallic taste in my mouth is the worst - but at least it has cured the bladder problem!!
