Kenalog

I had a kenalog shot for bursitis of the hip. It worked wonderful aside from the hot flashes I got about 6hrs after the shot. they came and went for about 1wk and dwindled away after 2wks. I am already over at menopause at 46yrs old. What gives??

After receiving daily shots of Kenalog for 1 month for allergies and stopping, about a week later my blood pressure went from the usual 120/80 to an average 145/105 with migraine headaches. I had also gotten tiny bumps on my forehead. It lasted about 1 month. This happened once in March 2011, which I assumed had nothing to do with the treatment. However, I had the same treatment in August 2011 and the same thing happened again. In all due fairness, I had also taken an antibiotic and cough medicine during both periods. But I have had those at other times in my life without any side effects. I suspect that it is either the Kenalog alone or the Kenalog together with those other 2 medicines.

Had my first Kenelog September 2010 apart from slight weight gain the only effects are that I feel great and no allergy symptoms ...it's a pain about the weight gain but such a relief to be able to breathe easily and taste food that it's a small price to pay.

I have had similar response. I was going to a college and had a cold. I was not tested for strep throat but they put me on an antibiotic that I was allergic to. After oral steroids that were prescribed the wrong dosage and another antibiotic I was found allergic to they gave me a Kenalog shot in combination with another drug. Within a month I has a dip in the left shoulder the size of a gulf ball. It has grown and now become painful to use my muscle. I am a waitress and so you can see how it is painful to work. I have gone to my family doc who said she believe there is tendon, muscle, and tissue damage. I had an MRI done yesterday and a scheduled Ortho appointment coming up. I have been told by different PA's that I will have to have plastic surgery to have my arm look normal again. And if the PA the my college would have tested me for strep I would have never had to deal with any of this >:o

I had kenalog shots in my foot for itching..after creams did not work. Six days later in the injection site my foot swelled and was sore to the touch. A cyst had formed and has caused constant problems. It was drained but came back and drained again.. I am on keflex because a infection has now occured. I can't walk foot swells up and am getting a biopsy result soon. would never ever do this again. I rather itch.

I got my 1st injection of kenalog on 6/10 and didn't have any noticeable side effects. But then, I got another injection on 1/11 and about a week later, I got my period. It was heavy and very clotty. Ever since then, my periods have been abnormal. I also have migraines at least 2/3 times a week. I've also lost a ton of hair. So noticeable that my hair stylist mentioned it. I am seeing an obgyn because of these side effects. I will no longer be getting these injections for allergies. These side effects are awful. If I had known, I wouldn't have gotten the injection.

I just got a Kenalog shot about two weeks ago for allergies. And it has helped A LOT. I'm terribly allergic to dogs so every time I go home to see my parents, I get very very sick. After this shot I don't have any problems at all. I have seasonal allergies as well, and those are fine now too. I do have some flu symptoms right now that my Dr said was possible but that would go away. He said it could also cause problems for my period but I haven't had any. Also, I haven't had any indentation problems like I've heard from other people. So far, loving it and planning on getting it again, even with the flu-like symptoms.

This is the same thing I'm experiencing.  I've had my period for over 7 weeks now.  And I'm wondering when these side effects will wear off.

Severe atrophy at wrist, thumb, palm. Initial reaction to injection was swelling, numbness (for over one week)..thumb locked into palm and more pain than before injection. Am a wheelchair user and now am completely dependent!!!

I had kenalog injection on right and left buttocks due to RA and now nearly a year later by back side is disfigured and deformed due to the shots. This kenalog works like acid disintegrating the fat so that it forms a massive hole in the skin.I went to see the doctor who basically said that it is permanent and was very inpatient towards me when I said how upsetting it was for me and how I had not been warned by the nurse that this may happen. I phoned the nurse who injected me and she told me 5 times during the conversation that they were permanent. She was very blunt and unsympathetic. I feel betrayed. I trusted the nurse and now I am left disfigured and ugly. This is the only damage they will inflict as now I am wiser and informed about this disfiguring substance and will never have the shot again. I will try to inform and warn as many people as poss.

I get these injections done every 3 to 6 months for keloid scarring on both my shoulders, my left ear (top of ear) and on my chest. Yes, I have gotten some indentation but it does go away after 6 to 12 months. I have had no other problems and I am very greatful for all the hard work my derm has done!

My 15 yr old daughter had a Kenalog injection for a Poison Oak reaction (severe swelling of ankles) and has had almost continuous periods for 3 months now.  She had regular periods before and is healthy and fit with no other medical problems. 

I received an injection close to my shoulder blade June 16, 2010.  Three months later, I have an indentation and my health care provider has indicated that perhaps the muscle has scare tissue and the indentation and discoloration may not disappear.  I was further advised to see an Ortho and Dermatologist for further consultation. If I knew this was a possible side effect, I would have never taken the medication.

I had kenalog injection to reduce the bump on my face. Just one tiny injection. Now a week later I notice the discloration on my face. I dont see the indent yet. How long will the indent will star showing? WIll I get indent on myface at all or just the disloration? Thank you I'm very stress now.

I have a very large indentation on my shoulder blade.  It measures approx 3 " wide and an inch deep.  I have terrible mood swings, and am very irratable.  The pain at the indentation is extreme.  I had the Kenalog injection in November.  The indentation appeared about 2 weeks ago an is continuing to grow.

My daughter had one injection of kenalog 40 and has has numerous side effects from it. She is developing an indentation near the injection site. She had skin atrophy that was very servere, she had a very bad cold not long after she received the injection, and is very, very irritable, loss of apetite and she is becoming thin. I want to know if kenalog 40 is the same as kenalog.
