Lamictal

I have been on Lamactil for 9 years now. I recently switched to generic because my insurance wouldn't pay for brand and had a seizure. My doctor up my does to 2 150 mg tablets twice a day and 2 25mg tablets twice a day I am also on 500mg of zonogran. Lamactil is a very good drug when controling seizures I have terrible ones if I miss a does or don't take it on time. But the side effects are horrible I have researched over the internet for months now and found out many people have the same horrible feeling I do. Hands shaking, tired, don't feel motivated to clean or do work. It's very hard to pay attention. I have pain and tingling feelings in my hands and feet and joints. Every morning I see double vision and I am very dizzy. My sex drive has also decrased. And I brake out in hives for no reason. I havent always had these but as ive been getting older there have been more side effects. I'm not trying to scare anyone it's just what ive experienced.

questions , can this medication cause gynecomastia or manboobs ? ive had them removed before and what had previously caused it for me was paxil

My 20 year old daughter takes lamictal 150mg 2 times a day. She has been taking for 7 or 8 years. She just recently had a lump removed from her breast. The Dr that found it said she thought it could be from her meds. Has anyone had this to happen to them

does lamictal give anyone night sweats?

My 2 year old son is on 50mg chewable Lamictal, and although it has stopped his seizures, it has caused SEVERE tooth decay. He still has tremors and balance issues but they are minimal compared to 5 months ago.

I have had a lot of experience as a patient with siezures. and I have used both Keppra and Lamictal. Keppra is the one that gave me large. extensively long & uncontrollable mood swings; frnakly I reget how much this put my wife and kids through hell.
My basic commnets you might know already...
-Learn about your doctors in advance; you should have one who wants to work with you (e.g. mine asking for my wife’s perspective.
- Ask your specialist (and even confront him/her with) your questions.
-2 or more seizure medicines mixed can so often offset each others’ effects; some doctors’ quick replies to that are far too simple and incorrect for you.

14 months ago my new neurologist slowly removed me a > 7gram sedative mix.  He slowly moved me to Lamictal for seizures, so I began a temporary Dilantin (i.e. the body known to accept /adjust to Dilantin much faster than Lamictal).  My daily Lamictal start was 200mg ; we’ve now reached 500mg…not yet our expected level.  With much progress in seizure control, I even sense some seizures coming but not occurring.  My minimal side effects are dry mouth, some tremor and balance.  I've had benefits.

I started 25mg of lamictal 3 months ago. I noticed a slight change of mood in a good way . I noticed I was losing hair in the shower! I hardly ever shed hair! If I do it's a small amount. I was pulling out alot. I didn't really think it was the meds at  that time. Also I was really tired all the time so I started taking it at night. Then month two she raised me to 50 mg . I still had hair loss but I also noticed my mood getting more depressed and I was still very tired all day even though I was taking it at night. Month three she raised me to 75 mg. I'm losing clumps of hair tired all day huge change in mood on the down side along with heart palpittations!!! This drug is awfull. Next week I'm telling her no more whether she thinks it's the med or not. It's a nasty drug for me!!!!

I am new to taking medicine for epilepsy, but i have had all of my life, but i can tell you that keppra was the worst medicine. I cried all the time, suicidal, and anxious. but icame completely off of keppra and swithched to lamictal alone and i still have some partial's under high stress , but other wise i feel much better

I too had (what I think was) severe arrhythmia while on Limictal. I started with just 25mg twice a day. By the second day I felt like a new person, and I thought I had finally found the right medication... until I started having these crazy "episodes". Suddenly my heart rhythm would change, (like there was an extra beat in there somewhere) and then slow down until I felt like I was going to just drop to the floor.. or faint I guess. I would make myself cough (over and over) and my heart would eventually kick back to normal... very strange, I know!! After almost two weeks of these episodes, I stopped taking Lamictal and everything stopped. The following week I saw my DR, who told me to go back on the Lamictal because he did not think the two were related. So I started taking it again, and of course, the episodes came back. This time I stopped for good.  Too bad though, because it really worked for me. I advise anyone on this drug to be VERY careful!!!

I AM CURRENTLY TAKING LAMICTAL AND KEPPRA.I STARTED TAKING WITH KEPPRA WITH NO RESULTS IN SEIZURE CONTROL. MY DOCTOR THEN ADDED LAMICTAL DOSAGE WAS 200MG A DAY. MY SEIZURES HAVE BECOME MUCH WORSE STARTING WITH THE AURAS. tHEY USED TO COME AND GO BUT SEEM TO NEVER SUBSIDE FOR DAYS AT A TIME. i FELL SO WEIRD IF WEIRD COULD BE DESRIBED AS A SYMPTOM. I FELL ANXIOUS LIKE I AM WAITING FOR SOMETHiING BAD TO HAPPEN.I HAVE BEEN TO THE HOSPITAL 4 TIMES BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER FELT SO SCARED ALL I DO IS CRY UNCONTOLLABLY WITHOUT KNOWING WHY. MY ONLY  EXPLANATION IS THIS IS USUALLY THE WAY I FEEL AFTER A SEIZURE EXCEPT IT DID NOT LAST FOR DAYS AS IT DOES NOW. I HAVE HEADACHES THAT I CAN'T SEEM TO SHAKE THE BAD THING IS MY SEIZURES HAVE BECOME WORSE. I ENDED UP GIVING UP A JOB I ENJOYED DUE TO THE SIDE EFFECTS OF THE MEDS.  I CAN'T SLEEP  AND FEEL VERY CONFUSED I COULDN'T COUNT OUT 22 DOLLORS BECAUSE I COULDN'T REMEMBER THE LAST NUMBER I COUNTED. I HAVE BEEN ON THESE MEDS FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND 4 MONTHS SO I NOT GETTING USED TO THE AFTER EFFECTS. I HAVE EVEN HAD THE DOSAGE  OF THE LAMICTAL DECREASED AND THE KEPPRA DOSAGE DOUBLED. I DON'T WANT TO BE DISCOURAGING I AM BY NATURE A POSITIVE THINKER BUT I CAN'T TELL LATELY I APOLOGIZE FOR GOING ON AND ON ABOUT ME BUT THIS IS MY FIRST OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCES.      

Biggest mistake of my rash infested life!

I have been on Depakote and Lamictal combo for over a year and a half now. I have not had any serious side effects and i have noticed a very positive change in my mood exacerbated by bipolar disorder. After i started lamictal i did notice that, i was having more vivid dreams (almost similar to the nicotine patches). I asked my doctor about it and he told me that, "some patients experience abnormal dreams but, as long as it doesn't bother you it should be dine". I have tried many different medications and these seem to work very well!

i have had several attacks that the docs feel is stemming from my gall bladder, several ultra sounds and that barrium test done with negative outcomes.  my mental health provider, yesterday, thought it might be pancriatitis from lamictal.  this is the best med i have found for the bi-polar disorder i live with, i am weighing the pain vs results right now.  my doc has me scheduled for blood work to check what's going on.  this med, for me, has been the answer to my prayers regarding my stabilization, sure don't want to have to give it up!

I've been on it for 5 years now and haven't had any of these terrifying side effects. If you read these reviews you're going to hear worst case scenarios for every drug out there and never get any treatment. I'd say trust your doctor and give it a try.

Haven't taken it yet just got the scrip today after reading up on this I don't want to take it. Why the Nero doctor decided on this drug for me I have pain from the neck down in my nerves. He said, this drug would help with my pain, told me about the side effects of the rash but nothing compared to what i have found out online about the harmful side effects I called his office left a message to call me to change this med Lamictal 25 mg twice a day to something that doesn;t have so many side effects it is scary to think about what could happen if you take this drug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
