  • My first lot of Lignocaine…

My first lot of Lignocaine was to get some spots removed off of my back, the Dr gave me the shots, removed the spots, which took approx 5 minutes, at around the 3 minute mark I was dizzy, sweating, had a metallic taste in my mouth, the Dr stopped, and took my blood pressure which had plummeted, then I was vomiting, and collapsed and passed out. She gave me another shot (I cannot remember the name of it) which helped stabilise me, and rushed me to the Hospital, where I woke up, approx 15 minutes later... The Anaesthetist came around and gave me the news that I was one of the lucky rare people who have a major Toxic reaction to Lignocaine!
A few years later, I had to have a Csec, for my 2nd daughter, at the same hospital, and the stupid Dr gave me Lignocaine before my epidural! Again I went through the same symptoms as before, afterwards I said to him "did you give me Lignocaine?" and he admitted it... I said wasnt it in my hospital records that I am allergic and he had the nerve to turn around and say that Lignocaine allergic reactions are extremely rare... Well Der! I know that!
I now make sure and double check that all my records have it on them! And I also wear a medic alert bracelet... Just in case!
