my dad was on lisinopril…
my dad was on lisinopril for around 2 years, a few days after his last prescription refill he developed sudden onset angioedema and passed away a few days later. this drug needs to be taken off of the market because this is a possible side effect even if you have been on this med for a while, why was he not told of this possiblity? if so then he probably would have made to choice to stop this med before it was too late

I had been taking Lisinipril…
I had been taking Lisinipril for about 5 years. All of a sudden I wake up with 1/2 of my mouth/lip extremely swollen. Went to emergency and they gave me benydryl and steriods, to reduce the swelling. The Dr.'s said that its possible to occur all of a sudden, even after being normal for years prior.

I started Lisinopril 40MG…
I started Lisinopril 40MG and Metoprolol 50MG almost two years ago. I have had chronic sinusitis for 30 years so when things starting getting bad I was not sure if it was the medication or my sinus problems because I could no longer take decongestants which kept my sinus problems minimal. However the first thing I noticed was swelling in my knee and ankles (it comes and goes not as much as the first year). I became so tired and had no energy and I use to work out every day. I get winded walking which I use to do every night but had to stop. I gained about 45 lbs in a year and have never had any weight issues in my life; I eat very healthy foods. In the past year I have been plagued with constant sinus infections, treated with antibiotics, nose sprays, etc., they just come back. I have constant clear drainage down the back of my throat (which I never had before) to the point where it chokes me at night because it backs up in my throat. The gagging cough makes me feel like I’m going to vomit at times and my throat always feels swollen. My voice grew very hoarse and here recently I lost my voice due to the irritation in my throat and doctor has been treating it however it’s been three weeks and no better. The worst part is the dizziness; I don’t even drive anymore because I’m so dizzy. My doctor keeps telling me he does not think it’s the meds but a result of the sinus infection but I find it odd that all of these things came about after starting the blood pressure meds. At this point I feel desperate, sick and not sure what to do anymore. I have no idea which BP drug is causing it but I know it is one of the two.

This is the second time my…
This is the second time my lip has swollen. The same thing happened last month. Whats weird is both times I've had what I thought was a stomach bug (diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain etc ect. ) but the pharmacist told me tonight that it's very possibly related to the angioedema. Thats the name of the condition that has occurred. Nothing else, thank God, has occurred and I home it stays that way. Weird thing is my dr. never told me to stop taking this medication.

I take a very low dose of…
I take a very low dose of lisinopril even though my blood pressure is in the normal range. I have type 2 diabetes and the medicine is to help with kidney function. I don't have any severe side effects from taking the medicine. However, I do notice if I forget to take it in the morning I get very impatient with my family in the evening. If I have a big cleaning project coming up, sometimes I don't take the lisinopril in the morning on purpose. Then when the kids get home from school I am mean enough to make them do their chores instead of being a big softie.

My triglycerides were elevated…
My triglycerides were elevated a few years ago, so the doctor prescribed lipitor. I did not tolerate it well as it caused extreme digestive problems. The next time I saw the doctor I told him about my reactions to the medicine. He suggested that I either eat fish twice a week or take fish oil capsules. Doing that has put my triglycerides into the almost normal range.

Do you have access to a blood…
Do you have access to a blood pressure monitor? I take lisinopril and the pills I take are 10mg. I only take half a pill daily because a whole pill was making me dizzy. Even though I take such a low dose, it keeps my blood pressure in the normal range. If your doctor wants you to stay at your current dose, ask about taking half in the morning and half at night.

To begin with, I am a 3 yr…
To begin with, I am a 3 yr X-smoker, My BP was usually around 90/70 well into my 30'z then when I hit my 40's I went to RedCross to give blood and they said I had Hypertension. Month after Month they denied me. I made the appointment w/ my Dr. was given Lisinopril. Months later my BP is still 148/106. Now in the mean time The pain in my jaw under my ears, my ears, my neck, and head aches has been almost un bearable. Why would I stay on a med that is meant to bring BP down, when it's not going down and causing me su ch discomfort? Maybe they get a kick back? idk b ut if anyone has some good advise for me I'll listen! Still think I should stop taking it though. ? :'(

I've been taking lisinopril…
I've been taking lisinopril for a couple of years, but now I have this wheeze in my chest and it makes me cough. Sometimes I can spit up yellow thick mucous. I have asthma, and it's not an asthma attack, rather an annoying rattle in my lungs that isn't going away and I'm becoming worried about it. Also, I take the generic for Singulair. Don't have health insurance right now because I'm in-between jobs but I need to get to the bottom of this one way on another. Any input?

I just started taking lisinopri…
I just started taking lisinopril and am also staying very tired. Dizziness and lightheadness are my biggest problems right now.I am taking this with cardura and zoloft, so it may not count here. But i wanted to share my input and after reading the comments here, i am thinking about not taking it at all. I want to lower dosage if i do continue. My doctor said i need it to lower my bp with the cardura, but i think it works TOO well. Stomach problems aren't as bad, always had ibs...just learned to live with it. Sleeplessness is also creeping in, getting harder to sleep at night.

Started taking Lisinopril and am so tired; sleeping 12 hours a night and even sometimes 15. Believe with the weakness and also the constant cough, I should go off this medication. My blood pressure was borderline and do not think I need it to begin with. *DONT_KNOW*

I have been on lisinopril…
I have been on lisinopril for a little over a month the week i started it i was getting over a cold i thought, It was the medicine i had a severe dry hacking cough that kept me awake most of the nights nothing would help the cough. I went back to the doctor and she said i had acid reflux, no way never had it in my life. i narrowed it down to the medicine and looked up lisinopril side effects sure enoug it had bad dry hacking cough and the back of my throat was swolen another side effect. Also it made me sick on my stomach I stopped it so now i just have to wait for the cough to go away it says could take months. No more for me. :(

Thank you for reporting this…
Thank you for reporting this problem. I just started Lisinopril about three weeks ago, and this afternoon I became so bothered by what was happening to my language ability that I rushed home type "lisinopril side effects" into the computer.
I am experiencing EXACTLY the same problem. I'm living in a foreign country, and although I had mastered the language well enough to teach it during a sojourn back in the States, in the past week I have started making some very basic mistakes. I've noticed that the problem worse when I've just stood up (for example, at the end of a meal).
Both last night and just a few minutes ago I used the wrong words for "goodbye"! Even when having a conversation I'm having to really THINK when I speak the foreign language, which had come very naturally to me. It's as if if I've gone back to a much earlier stage in my learning.
Like "Visitor" above, Lisonopril is the only med I am on, except HRT. -
I was prescribed Lisinopril,…
I was prescribed Lisinopril, although I don't think I need it, I have "white coat syndrome" and my BP is normal at home and elevated at the doctor's office. The doctor insisted that I take it. The first go-around, I took it for 3 days and developed lightheaded ness and thought I was going to pass out on night 2. On day 3, I had one of the most severe case of IBS I've ever had. I have struggled with it since I was 13 (now 28) and pretty much had it under control so I know what I can and cannot eat. When it would flare up, usually GasX would work. That time I had consumed nearly a whole box of GasX throughout the day with absolutely no relief. I stopped taking it and it took another day for me to get back to normal, but finally the pain went away. I went back to the doctor, she still insisted I take it, and dropped it down to only 5mg. Took it again, and same thing happened on day 3 again. Stopped taking for another week, and started again, and then AGAIN on day 3, another flare up of the IBS. I don't think this is a coincidence. I wish my doctor would listen to me that Lisinopril is more of a problem than a help.

Had blood work just prior…
Had blood work just prior to taking lisinopril - came out perfect. Went on lisinopri, did routine blood work 4 months later and showed signs of kidney failure! Stopped Lisinopril and in a month Kidney tests came back normal. Now I'm on a calcium blocker instead - amolopine (of something like that). Watch it when you take lisinopril - it dropped my blood pressure but at what cost! Be sure to get blood work after you on it a month of so. Scary stuff.

Al, you may not have…
Al, you may not have the energy right now, but you really need to find the energy to find a good primary care doctor. Cholesterol levels in the 500 are a huge risk. There are other cholesterol meds out there that work great. Since you are not taking the simvastatin, you need something. If your BP is 100/50, this could be too low for you. It is possible you are getting too much BP medication. You really need a physician that can coordinate your care appropriatley. Hopefully it is close to time to see your new cardiologist. Don't ever hesitate to go to the ER if you feel you need to. However, if you go to seek help from the ER, plan on staying and getting things taken care of. You do not go to the hospital to rest, you go to get help. You can rest upon discharge!!! Hope things work out for you.

Lisinopril keeps my bp down,…
Lisinopril keeps my bp down, but I suffer memory loss and have problems speaking. I have problems in casual conversations and
seem to pick the wrong words, while thinking of the correct words. It is frustrating because I have just started a new job and I have been having issues with the other employees. I am not sure I have ever heard anyone have these types of symtoms. Odd things like if you were to have a conversation and you want to say the word blue and the work red comes out instead. Lisinopril is the only med I am on. -

I never had a problem (that…
I never had a problem (that I know of) since taking Lisinopril 20mgs daily for two years starting when I was diagnosed with Diabetes back in June of 2008 (I was age 57 then and am now a 60 year old male). I was also prescribed 40 mg of Simvastatin per day as well as 500 Mg of Metformin twice daily. The problems came about first with the Simvastatin where after 1 ½ years it caused me to have terrible-and I mean terrible where I kept falling down as the world spinned around me and 911 was called-Twice in separate episodes. The Meclizine prescribed for the vertigo helped only temporarily but it was only when I cut out taking the Simvastatin (after reading some horror stories on the internet about this medication) did the vertigo finally cease. So now it’s the Lisinopril all of a sudden since last June where the terrible headaches and now the awful dehydration getting up every morning suddenly from bed ready to go to the ER-the BP is way up and I have to drink tons of water before I am stabilized, along with 10mgs of Lisinopril. I take only 10 and the other 10 when I need it because the doctor (who is ready to retire and seems more interested in discussing his golf game during visits on his cell phone) prescribed an additional 20 mgs-that’s 40 mgs per day for me! Things really got worse after that and I tried to keep it to 30 mg-as my BP did not warrant any more and everything went out of wack anyway. Needless to say I found myself in an ER three weeks ago where it seems all the doctors-and especially the cardiologists were concerned about the high potassium level sin my blood and kept me over night with cardiac enzyme blood tests draw every 6 hours three times. They did not find a heart attack occurred but I was so tired from the lack of sleep that I opted to see my doctor at his office to do a stress test (although I had two in the last 5 years-and both were not great but didn’t show any concerns as to heart attacks or something of that nature). (The heart doctors warned me not to take more than 20 mgs of Lisinopril by the way and not 40 because of the potassium rise and electrolite imbalance that brought me into the ER).That was a mistake as far as I am concerned as the doctor is ready to retire and is not a very good doctor unfortunately in my estimation-or I wouldn’t be in this mess to begin with if he had listened carefully to my complaints which he did not. Yesterday and today same thing-getting up horrible BP 50/100 with pulse rate always high from 90’s to low 100’s. My primary care doctor retired last year and I am left with only this cardiologist golf lover doctor. My lipid levels are not great 199 total cholesterol (but he said my “Now” cholesterol is high 200’s-he estimates my LDL to be in the 140’s because they could not figure the number out due to my triglycerides being over 500-and HDL is 23-my vitamin E levels are “very very low” he stated at 11 and should be at least in the 30’s somewhere. The Vitamin 200o mg, which he recommended or even 1000 mg’s Vit D3 makes me feel bad so I stopped taking that. I forgot to mention that my oxygen saturation level was 94 when I got to the ER -went down to 90-but after a few hours and this concoction they gave me to take (tastes awful and very sweet) to get the potassium out of my system it went back to “normal” at 98 or 99. My head is hurting now and I will take an Advil as it helps a little-but just wondering what do I do in this mess as this cardiac referral physician I was sent to is not available until next month and I don’t have the energy to look around for another Dr. just at this time. Wonder if the “Big One is on it’s way-Heart Attack or Stroke? What a dilemma. Maybe I should go back to the ER and this time not be too hasty to get out of the hospital. Someone with experience please advise me because I just don’t know what to do. Sorry for the long post. Thanks

i'm a 55 yr old guy. i recently had a stent inserted and i was put on lasinopril. along with a few other meds. one of the meds i was takeing. i was taken off it totally. i was haveing bouts of feeling light headed dixxiness. like i was going to faint. although the symptons seem to disapate mostly. i have still been haveing feelings similar to those when i was on the other meds. i'm concerned the linsioprol is causeing this light headed fainting like feelings. its very uncomfortable. i also experience a lot of anxiety also. i'm concerned i may have a fainting spell at some point. and or some bad reaction due to this medication. i'm scheduled for a stress test on the 23'rd of this month along with a ultrasound. i fear doing it. where i'm feeling this dizziness and feelings of going to faint. i would like to stop takeing this medication to see if these symptons cease. this is very stressful on me daily.

I took Lisinopril for 3 days. I had nasal and sinus congestion, foggy head, felt like I was in la la land. I also had horrible taste in my mouth and very dry mouth as well. I felt tired and slept too much. I am now off of it. I am pre-hypertension so will look at natural ways to bring blood pressure down.

my husband has been taking…
my husband has been taking lisinopril for well over a year, 10 mg daily--no problems, BP well controlled with it. Experienced laryngitis last week without any apparent reason and that went on until today at which time he awoke with a "fat lip" and some swelling around the mouth. Called our primary care and from there we were sent to EW where they told us it was most likely the lisinopril. Everything else seemed to check out OK, blood tests, EKG, and CXR. We are now wondering if maybe the start of this was that onset of acute laryngitis for no apparent reason. At any rate he is OK now and we are d/cing the lisinopril. Have an appointment tomorrow with doctor to prescribe new med.
