Livalo

On Livalo for 11 weeks now-experienced symptoms much like that of an upper respiratory infection, achey and fatigued from ribs to my head. Also wondering if anyone else has had earaches and feeling of being swollen around the neck. ENT says no sign of ear infection but intense pain, even feel swollen inside when swallowing.

I have muscular aches and joint aches. I have tried vytorin ,crestor,lipitor and several other statin and i have problems with them all. My back aches.stomach pain, constipation,feeling tired, insomnia just not feeling like myself. My cholesterol is very high. I just need some relief. My whole body aches someday every day it is something different.

has anyone had problems with weight gain while on Livalo? AND Inability to lose weight even with correct diet and exercise?

I have been feeling lazy, somewhat dizzy, weakness when trying to do daily house duties, cloudy eye sight, ache in legs. I have been on this drug for two weeks. Then I found out that it may cause lopse of hair, had that problem with Liptior. I feel that the stins. r not for me. Guess will have to try Diet Centers.

I am 51 taking Livalo for about a year now. My cholesterol numbers are great, and my side effects have been next to nothing. Previous statins were intolerable with pain, overall discomfort. Now - no abnormal aches and pain. I have gained a good bit of weight though. I am beginning to blame the meds. If I keep gaining I am going to be a blimp with good cholesterol.

Have been having very vivid dreams/nightmares since taking Livalo. No longer have joint aching since switching from Crestor. But tired from being awake much of night.

I just picked up samples from my doctor after having bad reaction to pravastatin. After reading these reviews I'm really scared to start this medication. I have a lot of trouble with many medications as my stomach can't tolerate much or than tylenol.
Any one have good news?

can Livalo cause renal failure and increased proteing in urine? have had severe joint paint and swelling along with weight loss. Mulitple test have been ran and everything is coming back negative. Upper and Lower GI scope was also negative.

Have been on 2 mg Livalo for 2 wks...feeling very fatigued, chest discomfort(like a strained muscle), flu-like symptoms including feeling cold when it's 80+ degrees out, diarrhea, general feeling of weakness. Have tried other stains and could not tolerate them either. Have a stint, so am willing to try these, but not if it makes me feel 90 yrs old! Am ready to just take my chances and at least have some quality of life.

Aside from being on my 8th day of a migraine...I also have terrible aches in my legs and wozziness in my head at times. Almost like tunnel vision. Trouble sleeping, dreaming constantly. Shortness of breath and abnormally tired.

Has anyone who is a Diabetic taken this drug? What, if any, eefects have you seen on your blood sugar levels?

I take 2MG of livalo now and my experience is terrible because I present shortness of breath

I'm a 52 yr. old female and started taking 2mg Livalo 2 weeks ago. First few days I almost felt giddy, like it was a happy pill. I thought, "cool" I can handle this. This went on for about 5 days. After that I felt no side effects except for very strange and vivid dreams which I've noticed others of you have experienced. For the past four days I have become more and more lethargic. I feel weak, tired, and fatigued. My mind is "fuzzy" not clear and sharp as usual.
Yesterday, I went out to mow the lawn and became so nauseous I fought down the vomit. You may think it was the mowing, but it's a riding mower and I've mowed twice as long in much higher heat. It "felt" like a drug reaction. Like exaggerated reactions to what I've been experiencing. Guess I'm old enough to know what a drug reaction feels like. :) Maybe the heat and mild exercise brought out the worst of it. I don't know.
I, like many of you, have tried most of the statins with un-liveable side effects. I've also tried Niacin and it gave me the gut-ache from hell, not to mention flushing. So...I guess I'm going to have high cholesteral unless something comes out that I can tolerate. Good luck, folks!

I am fortunate in that 2 mg Livalo is really working for me. I feel absolutely great---no side affects. Terrible problems with Crestor and Lipitor and Pravastatin. Have a stent, so I have to take something for the cholesterol gene I've got. I'm a vegetarian who follows the Dean Ornish plan and who is very active. The only thing bothering me since the stent is Plavix, which I think may be causing bleeding. Am checking that out.

I have been on 2 mg this statin now for little over a month. My energy level is crap. I used to exercise 2 or 3 times a week, and looked forward to it. Now, on this drug my energy is gone, motivation to exercise, gone. I am gaining weight because I have a desire to eat an unusual amount of food. One of the more irritating side effects is that I am despondent and or depressed. Sexual desire decreased. I am tired a lot even after getting 7 hours sleep. Have trouble concentrating for extended periods of time. Muscle fatigue is also a problem. In fairness, all statins I have been on have similar results. I took myself off the other statins I was on for a couple of months and felt a 100% better. But my blood work came back with elevated LDL, lower HDL, and higher Triglycerides Doctor convinced me to take Livalo. I believe all these statins may work to lower LDL, raise HDL, etc. But be prepared to give up a certain quality of life. I am not sure the cure is worse than the disease. I believe it may be.

I am gaining weight with Livalo. I did not tolerate Lipotor, Zetia nor Crestor. Has anybody else experienced weight problems?

Could not take Crestor or Vytorin due to painful leg cramps. Doctor put me on Livalo. After taking only ONE tablet yesterday woke up in the middle of the night with muscle pain and feeling weird. I am reluctant to continue taking it. Will call my doctor. Statins are out for me. I will have to take the bull by the horns and lower my cholesterol via exercise and diet. Just hope I can actually get it down without drugs.

I have constant fatigue, my neck and shoulders are tight, joint pain in my fingers and having crazing dreams. Been on this medication for 3 weeks and taking myself off to see if symptoms go away.

Your NOT the only one that this drug has made miserable. I think ALL statins are dangerous. I will never take another statin EVER. I felt like a old woman could barely get around and only took this drug for 28 days. I took myself off..

I would say it is because I have the same thing.

I was taking livalo for over a month. I've had severe pains on my shoulder and my eyes water continuously. Not aware of its side effects, I went to an orthopedic specialist for my constant shoulder/neck pain. An MRI result came up negative. I went for physical therapy and that did not help either. Meantime, while on a business trip for 5 days, I neglected taking livalo. Midway thru this trip I noticed that my neck/shoulder pain has diminished completely and my eyes seem to have stop watering. :)

I have been taking Livalo for 4 weeks. First I started with neck and shoulder pain, now I have SEVERE hip and back pain...also my hands feel like I have arthritis. I have NO energy and I'm having crazy dreams. Last night I didn't take this medication and this morning it's a bit better. I will get off this for a month and if all of this goes away I will know.

Have only taken for one month. Currently I am doing a lot of manual labor, spring gardening, etc. and practicing yoga. I have had some mild muscle soreness but I have attributed it to these reasons. Previously took Simvastatin and had to stop as I had odd woozy sensation with a buzzing sensation in my head. Not one of the named side effects but enough to make my doctor tell me to stop taking it. My LDL is over 200 so I need to find a statin I can tolerate. My doctor said Livalo is less likely to cause side effects. Hope I can continue without problems

I have been on 2 mg a day for 8 days, and I am having a lot of itching on my arms. I was dizzy today for the first time and the joints in my fingers are very sore.

After a week of taking 1/2 of a 2mg Livalo I had severe pain in my neck and left shoulder! I almost went to the Emergency Room. I went off the med and started getting better and have started it again for 3 days now. Pain feels like it is coming back.

have you had any eye surgery?

My vision is very blurry and very sleepy

I am prone to migraines, but did not think a whole lot about it when my heart doctor put me on Livalo. I am now on my 10th day of a migraine and that is the only change in my lifestyle.

Anyone else have this effect?

Severe leg and ankle pain. Could hardley walk around the house it was so bad. My Dr had increased my Actos at the same time. Had selling and soreness in my ankles. Quit taking all Together. They were a terrible experience for me. I cant be the only one these drugs have made miserable. wynne

I have been taking Livalo for alomost two months now. Early on, while taking it daily, I began having severe abdominal cramping. I reduced the dosage to every other day and this improved. While it is improving my cholesterol numbers, I have recently been experiencing dizziness and chronic headaches. No other medications have changed and Livalo is the only thing I can attribute this to.
Waiting on callback from doc now, should be off of it by cob today.

I have been taking Livalo 2 mg for more than a month,i have been experiencing deadness in my feet and lower leg area,also nasal drip,does anyone else out there have any of these two side effects?

I have been taking Livalo for less than two weeks. I feel, I can't describe how I feel other than no energy and my eye lids don't want to stay open plus a little depressed and just an overall feeling of just not quite like I should feel. I will not take any more!!!

I had taken various statins before and had severe cramps in my legs and had to stop taking them.
Now I was put on Livalo, no cramps now but I am having severe joint aches and pains.  I never had joint aches and pains before taking this.
Could this be from the Livalo?

I have been taking LIVALO 2MG/day. Going into 8 weeks, but I have started feeling tremors on my right hand, and ocassional tremors on my left hand.

I took Livalo one time and had extreme muscle pain in both arms shoulder blades across the back.  Severe back pain.   Unbearable chest pain, headache.
This occured 15 minutes after taking livalo.

ive been taking livalo for 2 months now  started having horrible nausa and severe pain in upper abomidal area didnt no this drug was causeing it  its a severe reaction ill stop taking it i dont recommend this drug to anyone

I have experience similar side effects.  In addition, I have had random anxiety attacks for no apparent reason after taking 2mg livalo for almost 2 weeks.  I stopped and got better, however I still have an ocassion attack.  I genuinely believe livalo contributed to creating a chemical inbalance in my brain!

Previous experience with statins negative terrible leg crams.  Second day on Livalo crams start in feet and then travel up leg and intensify in the thight.  This is same problem as with other statins the only addition was in the face which was hot and the face turned red which is a reaction I have with niacin & flush free niacin.  Comes back to just taking as best care as possible with diet and exercise.

Well, like I mentioned earlier, I’ve only taken the medicine for one week and I’ve also noticed I’m a little disoriented, kind of a strange feeling; like, not being in tune with my daily routines.  I normally work out four or five times during the week, and once on the weekend.  I had no desire to work-out since last Friday, and even stranger, I’ve been eating everything in sight.  Seems like I’m depressed or something. Anybody else experiencing similar side effects? 

I'm have major twitching of my left eye. . . . .just wondering if this is a side eefect.  Only been taking Livalo for one week.

Have been taking Livalo for about three weeks, my face feels flushed and I have a mild fever.  I haven't been able to tolerate other statin drugs in the past, looks like this one is out of the picture also. 

 Since taking Livalo, I have experienced; severe earaches where it was painful to swallow, headache, extreme back and stomach pains that made it very hard for me to work.  I also had pains in my neck with throbbing pains shooting up in my head and arm.  After having severe back and stomach pain, I stop taking Livalo for a couple days.  I started again taking livalo and that’s when I started again experiencing throbbing neck pains generating through my head.  Of note, my doctor prescribed a 1/2 of tablet.  I can only imagine what would've happened if my doctor had prescribed the whole tablet.  I have stopped taking this drug for good!

has anyone had earache and headache on livalo. took it for 5 weeks everything was fine until yesterday and today.  15 minutes after taking med thought my head would explode.  will try one more time to be sure.  

Has anyone ever had a feeling of blisters or burning in mouth? Mine is on the left side only. Lips and tongue burn.

Severe Diarrhea, @ 8 times day & night,weight loss, stomach pain and weakness, I am tired all the time.

I started Livalo 6 weeks ago. I have had problems with other statin drugs and was told this would not give me the muscle aches etc that the others had. I haven't had any energy in the last 4-5 weeks and I have been having back, shoulder and arm pains and weakness. I did not attribute it to Livalo at first because it usually took much longer for Crestor and the others to effect me like that. One morning I thought I was having a stroke or something because my arms felt like lead ballons. My doctor took me off Livalo and I began to feel better within 72 hrs.  

was instructed by my doctor to switch from Symvastatin (40mg three days a week, that was all my body could tolerate) to Livalo 4mg daily.  Within 6 days, muscle ache and stiffness, I immediately stopped the drug.  It has taken a week, for the aches and fatigue to finally start subsiding.  I was very disappointed as I was told this drug did not produce these side effects.  Not true for me.

I've been taking Livalo for a month now, have not experienced any negative muscular fatigue affects as I have with oter statins,  but my diabetic blood sugar level has lowered by about 10%.  I am curious to know if any others are experiencing this blood sugar lowering impact.   

I would never, never take this drug again and do not recommend it to anyone, extreme fatigue, extreme muscle and back pain - pain in the abdomen and distended intestines - still very sore, dizzy

I have been taking Livalo 5x a week 2mg for 4 weeks and I am experiencing minor fatigue.  I have not been able to take other statins do to cramping and dizziness


 

I have been taking Livalo about 3 weeks and I get a lot muscle pain. I go to a gym 3 times a week and I still hurt from working out. I also have experienced
discomfort when urinating, it feels like the urine temperature is elevated. I get tired easily and I feel very uncomfortable. I also get pain in my shoulders and upper back. I used to take Lovastatin and then switched to lipitor and now on Livalo for the last 3 weeks.

My whole body aches from taking Livalo. Muscles, joints, back, stiffness the whole 9 yards. Can barely make a fist. Only took it for 1 week.  I stopped taking it two days ago and can hardly get out of bed in the morning. I have to take some Ibuprophen to get moving

Is your backache behind your left shoulder blade?

Backache. But I get that from all statins. Guess I have to just behave myself and watch my cholesterol on my own.
