Have been taking Lofepramine…
Have been taking Lofepramine for 9 months now, doctor wants me to stay on them until January 2012, but due to side effects I have decided to gradually come off them completely now, I find the side effects are getting me down hence that is why I have now stopped, my doctor does not know as yet, but I will tell him. My blood pressure went up, sleepless nights every night, perspiration pours out of me, headaches, constipation, jittery, forgetful, although I do not feel depressed now, always been happy outgoing person, but lost my job last year and everything just fell apart. Now picking myself up again, my age is against me getting work now. Always worked since 15 years old and now 63 would still have liked to have done part time. Can you tell me how long will this drug be in my system, I just want to get my oldself back again. My confidence is a little low, but not depressed. Thank you. and so very tired all the time due to not sleeping at night, feel a bit hyper at times.

If you are not on a huge…
If you are not on a huge dose, you may want to look at amitiptyline (another trycyclic so you wouldnt have to wait for it to get in your system). Absolutely brilliant for helping you sleep as drowsiness is a main side effect.

I have been on various antidepre…
I have been on various antidepressants for nearly 5 years now including SSRIs and trycyclics (amitriptaline, imipramine and lofepramine). I have been on 210mg (a high dose) of Lofepramine for 10 months now and have found that I have less side effects than on ANY other medication. Initially, I felt that my bladder got full very easily and so was going to the toilet A LOT, and of course there were the other common side effects such as the dry mouth (which I still get when nervous). But that was it. The bladder issue has now settle down and the only other side effect is that I have a very low appitite and have lost quite a bit of weight (but that could be the depression and not the pills).
I guess the point Im trying to make it that side effects from such medicatiion are extremely individual and if they are not suiting you, you can try a differnet one until you find one that fitts. For example, if you are struggling sleeping then Amitriptyline may be a better trycyclic. Don't worry....you can always try something else! -
