Lupron

I just started my treatment and i have PTSD and Bipolar, I can say that it has made those conditions worse and is putting all of my family realtionships and my new marriage at severe risk of being ruined due to the mood swings. now i entertain the thoughts of suicide, or self harming like cutting to get some relief from the torment. On top of that I just found out that I am having heart issues and feel extremely tired and fainty all of the time. i want to sue my doctor and the pharma who made this damn drug.

I've experienced everything that others have mentioned and feel like I become a complete different person when my migraines are so bad that the mood/depression/crying etc start....all I want to do is dye.

I had lupron in 2001 and it was very successful in helping me get pregnant. I had hot flashes, but that is really the only side effect I had. I had been trying to get pregnant for a couple of years, then found out I had a lot of endometriosis & cysts on both ovaries. They did surgery to remove the cysts & as much endometriosis as possible, then followed up with 6 months of lupron. I got pregnant within a couple of months after the lupron wore off & have had 3 children to date. If I had read all of these negative things, I probably wouldn't have had the lupron, but then I may not have had my children either. For every negative experience there are probably at least as many success stories. You have to do what is best for you.

Please Please stay away from this drug. My life is a total disaster after taking this drug. I had one injection in April,2011 to stop my heavy periods in prep for a hysterectomy. I have every listed side effects from this drug. My family suffers as well (Anger, depression irritability). Now It is late July and i still have on going hot flashes, and gained at least 20 lbs. My blood pressure is starting to rise to where my BP medications are not helping. I would rather have my heavy periods than to suffer like this. Dr's are so wrong for prescribing this drug! When will my life return??????

Thank you so much for this information, I was about to have Lupron as treatment for my condition adenomyosis / endometriosis - . I'm 36 hrs old,trying to get pregnant, my doctor recommended it to lessen my condition and then prepare me for ovulation medicine. I'm glad I saw this information, however I'm disappointed as well, as now I wonder if I would ever be pregnant. Is anyone out there going through this too? I need some advice.

nightmare....tired, acne,rash,vision problems

My father was given a Lupron injection for prostate cancer and within a week he had every side effect imaginable. This was 3 months ago and when he recently went for blood tests it showed that he is in mild kidney failure. Never once was he informed of the potenential side effects of this drug. He never fully recovered from the side effects (bone pain, weakness, fatigue, dizziness, depression).
This drugs robs people of quality of life. The drug company should be accountable but more doctors need to know of how serious and frequent side effects arise from this drug. The patient should be able to make an informed decision based on the risk benefit ratio.

Angie i have had the same if not all of the side effects you have and or have because even if it subside some for a while you still have your good day's and bad but more bad than good.your rite your family catches hell no lie.it's bad there makeing meds they know you need yet they don't tell the whole story it's all about the dollar.I don't know if my life will ever be the same,not even close. I am triing to maintain how ever hard it is to do

well i had my first shot early 2010 and my last late 2010 it stoped my periods after the first shot,which was spaced out every 3mo my dr told me that i would have dry mouth and some weight gain and i did. I also had hot flashes night sweats and some constipation.when my last shop was over i started having mood swings something awful.my bones started to hurt and i lost some hair,along with some effect to my teeth.like one of my teeth tward the back broke off and my gums are starting to loosen up.if i were not in pain before iwould not have had these shots.my vision now is some what blurrrddd.now i feel like i have the same symptoms i had before.my abdomen still feel bloated with some pain and my anal area feel like theres alot of preasure there.i'm getting some facial hair and now i look and feel pregnant big time. ther is movement maybe its nothing going to dr nxt wk.can someone tell me if they have had something of these symptoms plz.

OMG ME TO ...TO EVERYTHING!!!!

I took lupron depot starting Oct 2010 and Nov 2010 to treat endometrosis and avoid a hysterectomy.  My doctor and the company who mfg the drug "Abbott/Takeda" make disclaimers that the side effects are mild and short term.   I developed severe side within two weeks and gained approx 30# within a month.  By my second injection, I was moody, severe bone pain, severe headhaches,loss of memory, and exhausted, I travel fo work and started loosing my vision.  I immediately reported my side effects to my doctor but they brushed them off.  It's been 6 months later and I still have the weight issues, severe mood swings (suicidal/anger range)  that I cannot control and sleep insomina/lack of concentration and headaches that are a killer.  I ended up calling Abbott Laboratories Compliant Post Marketing group and provided them with my "chief complaints" and indicated that the product label does not address the severe warnings on woman and long term effects.  The customer service representative told me that they do not have any product literature for my doctor to help as they don't have any data or studies on long term side effects.  Then I asked her about stability studies and follow-up with customer complaints to the FDA, she mentioned that they just sent reports to the FDA for review, however, it's unlikely that you will ever get an answer.  Most doctors lack the education on the drugs effects and pharmakonetics (cellular/metabolic etc) on the body and push, as this is a costly drug around $1000.00/injection.  I also filed a complaint with the FDA and they told me they have too many cases and will make "note" of it.  So, I took matters into my own hands and detoxifying my body and trying every herbal treatment out their to cleanse my liver, kidneys and gallbadder etc, hoping some of it's is broken down and will bring some normal function back to my life.  This drug has been a complete destruction to myself and family...each day it's hard to sustain a positive view when so many medical professions and the manufacture is against the patients...who is our advocate?

it is not a safe drug at all please look at all the bad side effects and permanent damage it does do NOT listen to your doctor about lupron  it's only a temporary fix anyway and your endo pain etc will come back anyway . try anything but that drug please i beg you do not take it not even once

 sorry type errors  if i could do it over i would have never taken this drug if i had only know  .. wahtever you do don't just trust your doctor is doing the right thing or even a good thing for you like i did  do the research  wish i did instead of trusting him i would not be still suffering oh by the way mood swings anxiety are so bad as well

inwas given lupron for what my docotr thought was an ovarian cyst it was fluid from a surgery he did on me  prior to the luporn to remove another cyst . there was no cyst but there has been lots side effects hot flashes pain headache bloatingin my abdomen with pain. i sine had another doctor do the next surgery to remove all the fluid. however the docotr that gave me lupron never told me all of its side effect he just said oh you may get some hot flashes but no big deal they will go away . i had no idea how bad this drug was and the permanent damage it can do to people as wel. if he would have simply told me about the drug like he should have i would not be still suffering  i am waiting for this horrible drug to wear off i got a 3 month shot  and they say 3 months after for the side effects to wear off the luporn should have stopped wroking in the end of january but my side effects seems to have sky rocketed. even blurred vison  ladder problems now  this drug should be taken ff the market and to think they give this to children makes me wanna cry they are ruine d for life what are these docotrs thinking giving this to people its a temporay fix anyway i heard so why ruin your life and body for this . please i beg anyone never never never take this drug 

treat for endo migraine led to constant daily headaches for 8 years. felt like I was getting alzheimers

After just ONE monthly shot of 3.75mg Lupron Depot, I had immediate abdominal distention and still have it one year later.  Very uncomfortable bloated feeling 24/7.  I am only 95 pounds.  CT scan reveals no fluid.  Apparently the fluid retention went away but I was left with stretched out abdominal fascia.  I never feel like myself anymore.  I have to use my muscles to support my abdominal wall.  Devastated.  PLEASE email me at Jane.Goodhope@yahoo.com if you have abdominal distention or permanent bloating long after taking Lupron.  DON'T TAKE LUPRON EVEN ONCE !!!!!

my tsh jumped from 1.5 to 8! and I had night sweats horribly for a week. Once the flare portion of the trreatment was over it all went back to normal though.

I had a hysterectomy in 06, but kept my ovaries.I never had endometriosis. Then in 09 my ovaries became inflamed. What they found then was the ovary turned into a tumor,lots of endometriosis,and an inflamed apendix. I had to have all of it removed. They could only remove 80% of the endo because it was so bad. At first the doc wanted me on eerything he could thjnk of to rid me of endo. then we changed our minds,discussed it and changed our minds again. So I started treatment with Lupron in 09. I just finished my last dose.  I have had bad joint pain,hot flashes,some night sweats,shoulder and neck pain,inflamed lymph gland behind ear,sleepless nights(tossind turning),weght gain,slight increase in my blood pressure,dryer than normal skin. I'm done and will not take it again.

I started montly Lupron shots. I'm 41 and had breast cancer, partial mastectomy, radiation and tried tamoxifen but I'm allergic. So I'm on Lupron and arimidex. I have hot flashes, severe bone pain, muscle and joint pain mostly in feet, knees, legs and hands, memory loss, confusion, depression, crying alot, severe Vit D deficiency, high white blood cell count, crp and sed rate extremely high. I think I will go off this medicine and risk cancer coming back. this is NOT living.

I have endometriosis and the doctor is perscribing lupron. Is it safe? Do I have any other options?

My mother recieved a Lupron shot 2/07 then died 2/9/07 about a week later. Is there going to be a class action lawsuit for the victims of this drug?? I WOULD SAY DO NOT GET THIS SHOT!!!

I"m on my third monthly injection of Lupron. The side effects are hot flashes, headaches, forgetfullness, dryness. I am also taking norethindrone add back therapy drug to minimize the side effects. It does keep the side effects manageable.

I am unable to walk following my Lupron treatment. I experienced extreme muscle weakness and loss of function in my right quad muscles. I also had prominent loss of fatty bopne marrow, joint degenerative disease, osteoarthritis, vitamin D deficiency, hip effusion, etc. All of this developed with my Lupron treatment. I was healthy and not on any medication for any condition. I had uterine fibroid tumors and my GYN wanted to shrink the fibroid as a pre-treatment to MRI focused ultrasound. I am disabled at age 40. No sign of any disease or illness. I must have 2 crutches to walk at all times, my life has completely changed.
