Melatonin

I casnnot tolerate Melatonin due to sever back pain. The first night leads to mild pain the next day. Worse on day two and INTOLERABLE by day three. Why?

I took a melatonin tablet last night - 1mg.  i started shaking loooadss diziness etc today i feel like i cant really think properly and im confused.  im 16 and female any ideas?  also been suffering from deprression and posible mood disorder..

I have DSPS and take Melatonin occasionally, meaning only when I do need to wake up early that because I lead a very free life does not happen often.
But everytime I do so, I have a back pain.
I am almost sure it's a main side effect of melatonin for me along with lots of sneezes when I wake up.

I have been taking melatonin approx 3 years. Taken at night 3 mg. During this time I developed severe mid back pain. There has been no accidents or falls to account for the pain. Bone scan and MRI only show Degenerative disc disease, but not enough to produce this type of pain. Being treated by pain specialist with heavy pain killers now.

Tonight is the first I have heard of the correlation between melatonin and spine pain. The manufacturer states they have never received a complaint.

Found on google that in the UK melatonin is prescribed as Circadin. The studies in the UK show that 1 in 10 will report back pain while using this drug (melatonin).

Melatonin causes ataxia. I hve had this for over a week now and it is not improving after stopping Melatonin. My son had the same symptoms but recovered in 2 days after stopping. Why am I still suffering?
