I have been recently diagnosed with diabetes and given metformin.....the pills gives me uncontrollable diarrehea and headaches. What can i do to offset the side effets?

than what your doctor has prescribed. Metformin controls diabetes but does not cure it. Continue to take metformin even if

you feel well. Do not stop taking metformin without talking to your doctor.

Ever since I started taking Metformin almost a year now, I have had a cough and it will not go away.

I'm on Metformin for PCOS and have severe chronic diarrhoea. Along with Stomach pain, Nausea and tiredness. I take it twice a day and have been on it for 2 months now. Doctor yesterday told me to have a trial period without it for 2 weeks and see if I still have any. Up to now nothing.

i have been taking it for years for pcos with no results. i am considering stopping because i believe it is causing my lower back pain

got up this morning and I was covered with a rash much like poisen  ivy, and very itchy.  Also my eyes were almost swelled shut. and the bag part under my eyes was full of fluid.  Quit the Med formin immedietly and seem better this evening.  could it be the metformin ,I have been on it for 3 weeks?

been on metformin for 4 days so far for Pcos and have eaten it with food and i am having sever diahrea and cramps. i have to take 500mg once  a day for 2 weeks and then 2 times a day for 2 weeks and then 3 times a day and i dunno how to make it through it. i am trying to find something to eat or something to help with the bowels. if anyone know please help

by using the medicine for 3 months,there was symptoms of impotency.

metformin and glimperide combination uses of 3 months,i feel attack of impotency.
and i stopped the medicine.

I was taking metformin and blood glucose was under control better than any time in
my 10+ years history of type II.  Doctor referred me to a nephrologist for exam.
Nephrologist tested my kidney function at 28%, took away my metformin immediately.
Subsequent nephrology visits have shown kidnet function returning to "what would
be expected" and nothing to worry about.  Blood glucose is harder to control but at
least I'm not on dialysis!  Control my bBG with diet, exercise and insulin.

I was hospitalized and was informed I was in serious condition my kidneys were shutting down. I am so angry I did not know that a medicine perscribed by a doctor could and would kill you. So I have to ask myself is it the doctors not paying attention or is it the drug manufacturer making that money.   all I have to say now since I just got out of the hospital and spending 5 days in ICU is God help us all!! between the drug companys and the doctors we really take our lives in our hands. I AM VERY ANGRY111111111111

Feeling sleepy, fatigue, and tired all the time. My vision is also gone seriously blurred.

nearly died taking this drug with ramipril didnt know that if i became ill it would cause toxic poisoning and i would end up i hospital with kidney failure.havent taken metformin for over a year but because my blood suger wont go down i have been asked to take it again. have spina biffida occulta  asthma and scoliosis and syringomyelia.

went in to a coma then had a motorcycle accident. then I found out from an A1C test that I do not have diabetes two like the doctor thought when he prescibed metformin

I am having sleepless nights, could this be a symptom of Metformin which I started a week ago.....

at what age should stop taking this drug?
